@mark84j I had it set to about 84 on recording level and was making sure it didn't peak, try to keep your levels between -12 and -6. My room is also fairly quiet as its a 4th floor flat, with the exception of some traffic and sirens. I didn't do any post on this, no normalize, literally the sound is as recorded. Its also worth mentioning that this mic seems very directional which will affect the cleanness of the sound dependant on other sounds in the line of the mic. hope this helps at all.
What were your settings? Mic level, etc...
I am testing out my H4N and it's not as clean and crisp as yours. Did you normalize?
