  • Taxis rolling through in the background, no place like NY, will miss it for ever

  • I love Fleetwood Mac but this performance is a bit ..eh.. it's just not that good. Sorry.

  • This is amazing!!! Stevie looks freezing though... : )

  • It must have been cold, its hard to play if your hands a freezing

  • @DeanoPiano yeah, his guitar is also out of tune probably by the weather

  • Boy, it must have been a task to perform early in the morning outside in the cold of 32 degree....but they did a great job with all of that. There is another video that they are sweating tons as it is so hot in the room.....what conditions these professional performers endure!

  • Timeless,enough said.

  • Performing in 32 degree weather is really tough!...fingers have a hard time moving. They've still got it!

  • Buckingham is probably the most under rated guitarist in the world. His style is totally unique.

  • Ah bless, brilliant!!

  • Anyone who knows the background of this song- and the incredible Rumours album- please explain to me how:

    1. These talented, seemingly nice people were able to perform this song- how many thousands of times together, including 20 years later? and

    2. Who the hell would choose to do that? and

    3. The Today Show fans frantically jumping up and down and manically bobbing their heads- ya think they understand the history of the Rumours album?

Personally, all the Rumours tracks give me chills...

  • thats what music is all about having fun. you see all of the old '70,'80 bands still on tour because there having fun its not a job to them its a way to have fun.

  • This is absolutely the best break-up song -- EVER!

  • The reason Lindsey's guitar sounds off key at the beginning is because he started to play PEACEKEEPER by mistake

  • maybe it was off tune cos out in the cold the strings tighten, you constantly have to retune.

  • No you are wrong. His guitar is very clearly out of tune. It is probably the cold weather, not good for guitars at all.

  • sumthin about that solo makes me smile

  • Excellent peformance from Lindsey!

  • Holy shivers!!! These guys are troopers x 10 to be outside playing in 32 degree weather--but they play like their in Key West!! We're not worthy!!!

  • Thanks Jackie!

    That was a great one.

His guitar was a bit whacked by the cold, but he managed to play anyway..

By the way, this is my favorite song too...

Except for a couple of Pink Floyd, and Sammy Haggar tunes... But it's real close!

  • REQUEST: If somebody taped this same concert for the song Rhiannon, PLEASE post it.

  • Lindsey is unbelievable. It's amazing how someone who finger picks like Lindsey can do so outdoors in the shivering cold.

  • it's called adrenaline! a live performance on national tv... outdoors.. the last thing you'd be worried about is your fingers!

  • Stevie looked like she was shivering from the cold. But still so beautiful! I think songs like this are the reason why classic rock of the 70's is making a comeback with today's kids

  • God thats a fantastic version! ta Jackie!!

  • Thanks for this - really enjoyed it. Great performance of a great song! Remember reading that Stevie Nicks hated having to sing this song every night on tour with Lyndsey, as he had wrote it about thier relationship break up, particularly hearing the lines "Packing up/shacking up is all you wanna do"

  • By Fleetwood Mac standards this is not a great performance. Cold weather and the absence of Christine McVie no doubt contribute to that, but hell, even on an off day, these guys sound great. And has anyone ever seen Mick Fleetwood drumming when he didn't look like he was having the time of his life? The guy is a force of nature.

  • @ericynot Don't forget some of the best guitar playing ever.

  • Considering they are playing live on a morning show in the freezing cold, this actually sounds really good. I dunno if anyone else has ever tried to play guitar or sing when it's cold out and in the AM, but it's pretty hard

  • Completely agree! I live in the shetland islands, north of scotland and i've played one or two gigs outside in the cold and its not an easy thing to do, especially whilst trying to play a guitar solo!

  • i have never tried it but i can imagine your fingers doin their own thing solid.

  • im no producer, but lindsys guitar sounds off a little. Fleetwood Mac is the greatist band ever though, and this had to be a kick ass preformance!

  • metal guitar strings are affected by temperature

  • people sound like they are producers or something the way they like to talk about sound and the enginerring science behind chords in cold weathers and the physics behind vocal strains against wind and penis sizes in icey weather... who the F%^* give a rat S%&£ i would loved to have been there for that.woulda kicked arse even if it did sound slightly out it would have still been a nice experience to have witnessed. and to bo honest.i woulda propbably been singing along at the top of my voice

  • maybe it was too cold....

his guitar is out of tune...a reason cuz its cold ;)

  • hey man thats when love was LOVE. Fantasic performance from a fantastic band and thanks for the post very much .

  • this sounds pretty shockin caompared to them back in the day

  • At :55, he sings "Open up..... When you won't take it from me?" It should be "If I could, baby I'd give you my world. How can I? When you won't take it from me?" Oh well, at least he rips his gnarly guitar solo.

  • It sounds like ~ How Can I to me. He starts out singing ~ Open, but then catched it and corrects it quickly. At any rate, SO WHAT?! It's still a GREAT performance!! I agree ~ GREAT guitar solo!!

  • @bellefairchild ---It's Lindsey's song! He wrote it! If he feels like changing some lyrics around, then so be it!

  • @bellefairchild who cares? its his song..

  • Why the FUCK cant you just enjoy the performance...PEOPLE TALKIN ABOUT THE WEATHER,,TO COLD ..TO HOT ..GET A FUCKIN LIFE AND ........ENJOY...

  • 16443126 ~ I TOTALLY agree with you. Thanks for saying that!! No need for the swear words though. (:

  • I want the drummer as my grandpa would be sooo awesome :O

  • Thanks for the posting!!

  • this is an awesome song! it seems like they were off alittle bit... too slow??? probably cuz of the weather... hahah

or... it's because she lost her tambourine :/

  • Well I live in a 42 degree country Abu Dhabi, however, yes his guitar was slightly out of tune with the rest of the instruments..can't be helped with that temperature..his voice still sounds fantastic.

  • 15 october

    IN THE NETHERLANDSSSSS

    i lovee them

  • Excellent Song

  • I agree. This is an AWESOME song!! Thanks for commenting!! (:

  • how did lindsey's guitar stay in tune at 32 degrees???

  • It didn't.....

    At least not quite.

    But it was rockin'

I want to know how his fingers were still able to function?!!

  • it didn't that's why it sounded off. I was there that day. It sounded better in person because of the acoustics in that small area w/bldgs.

When I got home that was the first time I heard out of tune. In person it was super loud and it sounded great.

  • That so cool that you were there!! Thanks for your comment!! (:

  • no problem

  • they played in that weather because there that damn good!!!

  • VERY true. Thanks for commenting!! (:

  • wow theyre playing in 32 degrees,

  • Yeah. (:

  • What idiot had the idea to let them play in such a weather??? No wonder everything is out of tune! Wood (which a guitar is made of) and the strings change in length when the temperature changes (out of a warm van to the outside). I know what I'm talking about. I have been a band guitarist for 21 years.

Cold air is poison for every voice. So I don't blame the musicians but the management!

  • I really don't get why people complain about their performance. These guys have done 30 odd years of utter madness and yet they can pick up the instruments and sound as fresh as the day the album(s) were released. Cold weather, bad guitars, the lack o people blowing controlled substances up backsides Fleetwood mac ARE rock royalty.

Cyron43 if you are even a fraction as good a guitar player as our friend Mr Buckingham here then let me know about gigs pronto!)

  • (DFunk1977) ~ VERY well said. Thanks a bunch for your great comment!! (:

  • DFunk1977: Obviously you got me completely wrong. I didn't complain about their performance but about the management who made this stupid decision to let them play in such a weather! What hit the musicians is pure physics. They are not to blame in any way! Anyone who has a halfway working brain should know about what happens when someone plays at such a weather but the manager's brain seems to be below that. Yeah money matters and things like that are the result when nothing else matters.

  • (Cyron43) ~ Thanks for your comment!! (:

  • man good thing he saved it with the solo

  • His vocals are spot on, considering the temperature. Shame about the out of tune string :(

  • Eek his B string is out of tune. Must be the cold weather.

This is probably one of my favorite songs from childhood though. Great band.

  • Its gotta suck playin out there in 32 degree weather

  • i once played a concert in belgium outside when it was 8 degree, and yeah it sucks!

  • That was probably 8°c which is a lot better than 32°f, which is 0°c.

  • he plays guitar the weirdest way but he ROX at it.... its insane

  • I love this song!!!

  • is it just me or am i the only one who notices lindsey starts playing peacekeeper at the beginning

  • Lol, he so did.. but its all good

  • I saw em lastnight at Edmonton!

im 13 and i love them,!

  • I've been a fan for 22+years, and I still love this band! Sucks I've never seen them live.

  • You will get that chance sooner or later. Don't give up on that. (:

  • 2:00 the man is hardcore rocking he shud see slipknot live!

  • Lindsey is the crazy, tortured genius of FM, one of the great guitarist/composers in rock history.

  • VERY true. Thanks for your great comment!! (:

  • the guitar is out of tune

  • yep, i saw one video when lindsey started i think big love ( or bleed to love her) and like he started playing and then qiut and got his guitar retuned but he couldnt do that in this vid.

  • That's because it's 32 degrees. steel strings go sharp when the weathers

cold and it was colder than SHIT out there.

  • Well said (gittahfiend)!! Thanks for commenting and for viewing my video!! (:

  • in some parts of the song the guitar seems not to be tuned properly...a pity

    By the way...awesome song!!:D

  • They do no longer need Chrissy...an amazing talent, yes, but not required when obvious genius is obvious.

Thanx J ackie...will get that surprise to you from you know who as soon as I can get 1 hr. to myself.

    'He' has not forgotten you.

  • I agree with you. Thanks for your comment and for keeping up with my videos!! I GREATLY appreciate it!! Also, thanks so much for your kindness!! (:

  • I have to disagree with you mate, they do need Chris. I'm a massive Mac fan and those three voices and personalities meshed together made the sound of Fleetwood Mac. She always hit higher notes than Stevie and Lindsey, she was the underrated part of Fleetwood Mac. I mean anyone can play her keyboards/piano but she was and is that missing link in Fleetwood Mac. I never got to here Songbird at the end of a Fleetwood Mac concert...nor will I ever now :(

  • I guess to each his/her own. I do like Chris, but I don't miss her. (Sorry.) As long as Lindsey (along with Stevie ) is in the band, I'm a very happy camper, but that's just my opinion. Everyone feels differently about it. (:

  • Of course i also love stevie and lindsy and i really dont want to see them leave the band!. Those two have got just sparks between them in concerts!!. but just listen to some concert songs where stevie is taken christine's part like say that you love me!!. Like those songs your going to mis christine!

  • i feel the same even tho i also miss Christine somewhat. at least there is still Stevie and Lindsey.

  • Thanks for commenting!! (:

  • drummer looks awesome

  • Sorry, but I don't think so. I never thought Mick was cute, but that's just my opinion. Everybody likes different things. That's what makes the world go round . (lol) (:

  • Mick's the collest man alive.

  • Whatever. (lol) I guess to each his/her own. (:

  • Saw them centuries ago on the 'Behind the mask' tour. After warming up from Gary Moore, we were told to go home because someone in the band broke his thumb. We were reinvited a few months later, alltough withouth Gary, so they had to fill an entire evening with their own music. Best concert of my life.

  • I actually like Lindsey better now then when he was younger. He sounded too much like all the other singers of his time.

  • Oh, someone's out of tune.

  • no christine mcvie no mac in my opinion

  • Exactly! Christine is the heart and soul of Mac. And somebody tune that guitar!!! I hear an acoustic rhythm guitar in there too, probably to cover for the missing keyboards from Christine's absence.

  • umm no? the acoustic part of this song has ALWAYS been in this song regardless of Christine's absence..

  • True, it just sounds more prominent without the keys, or maybe it is just the mix. I still miss Christine.

  • doorknob2150 ~ Thanks for pointing that out!! You are correct. (:

  • I do like Christine, but I don't miss her!! (Sorry.) I'm as happy as a clam that it's just Lindsey & Stevie (my two faves) up front. Lindsey is the one who is mainly responsible for F.Mac's huge success, but that's just my opinion. (:

  • Sorry (pattonftw), but I don't agree with that. No Lindsey, no F.Mac, in my opinion. (:

  • now THAT i agree with!! :] no Lindsey = no Mac

  • Thanks!! (:

  • Lindsey = a guitar God

    thanks for posting this!

  • VERY well said!! Thanks so much for your comment and for viewing my video!! (:

  • the guitar was good... but it just did not seem as well done as the 97 performance... though the guitar did

  • Comment removed

  • well, this is not AS good as the live show in 97 but then I noticed they sounded very cold... and its hard for me to play even in here in my room when its like 60 degrees... so they did good for how cold it is

  • I would hate to play guitar outdoors in 32 degree weather. Lindsey is a trooper!!

  • I agree. Thanks for your comment!! (:

  • I was at this Today Show concert and it was below 20 deg at 5 am. It moved all the way up above 30 deg by the time they played this. hey do you happen to have Rhiannon from this concert?

  • Wow, you were VERY lucky to have been there!! Yes, I do have Rhiannon also, but I wasn't planning on posting it since it is not a Lindsey song. I'll see if my one friend will, though. (:

  • yes please do ask them too. I'll be able to see me and my niece close up right on camera for during that song.

  • If my pal can't post it, I will. (:

  • Hope you do.

  • I think Lindsey thought they were playing "Peacekeeper" rather than "Go Your Own Way". Fair play to him though! I like this version...it's a pity he can't hit the high note at the chorus.

  • What sort of guitar is Lindsay playing?

It looks like a semi accoustic.

  • Model 1 Rick Turner

  • yeah it does seem to be a bit outta tune..and this performance is probably before Lindsey realized that he couldnt hit the high notes anymore in Go your own way and started singing the alternate way like he does in the Boston dvd. i do give him credit for playing his guitar in 30 degree weather. his hands must have been freezing!

  • I think there was a problem with his guitar.
