This is in my opinion one of the greatest songs by Jerry Reed. Most people know him from his country stuff from the 60s and 70s. But the handfull of stuff he recorded in the mid to late 50s was his best stuff. Way ahead of his time with this calssic!
Talk about being ahead of the curve! This was tracked before the Beatles even existed! Every time I hear something new from Jerry, my respect grows and I didn't think it was possible at this point. Thanks for the post!
I thought I was the only one who ever heard of this record, which was, indeed, in 1957 (Capitol label No. F3731. I still have a copy of it, and obviously, it came about 14 years before "Amos Moses" and "When You're Hot, You're Hot." Cool and awesome, for sure.
