  • Whats the hp on that mustang?

  • @joshua626

    455

  • that fox looked like it had alot of negative camber coming out of the first corner. stock geometry suspension?

love the griggs mustang. Ive been slowly making my stang a track car, flsfc's and upper sub frames ftw!

  • $64,000 and worth every motherfucking penny. incredible to keep up with a Z06 that weighs less and has more horsepower... Even if the Corvettes driver has questionable racing ability...

  • wow what a set-up i didn't see one counter-steer SWEAT!!

  • i love griggs mustangs (cause my second name is griggs)

  • Im a Vettte guy, so take this post as a complement. :) Everyone knows that Stangs have horrible traction; always have. You guys did an wonderful job on this car. It tore up that track. True, I dont think a tricked out anything is ever comparible to a stock anything (hence your car verse anything else on the track that day to include my beloved Vette), however, I bet that Stang is fun to drive and it is a car that has to be respected. Id definately consider it. :) Good Job!

  • Dang, that Mustang can really bite hard into those corners. I must get off my arse and get an SLA into my stang!

  • The best mustang in the world, As far as I see it. is only by Griggs.

Would love to see them get there hands on a 2004 Cobra, 1995 Cobra R.

  • Due to character limitations, please allow me to clarify one thing about my previous comment. I mention the $64k price tag with respect to that of the Z06's because if I were looking to purchase the Corvette, it would most certainly be used. In which case, a very low mileage C6 Z06, at roughly $50,000, is in fact considerably less expensive than this car. If anyone from Griggs Racing reads these comments, I would be most interested in your response to this.

    Thanks

  • To all the Corvette lovers don't mess with a Griggs equiped Mustang! if you do you will have to come up with some excuse like "the mustang had better tires" or "you where just enjoying the ride and were not trying very hard." Also Z06's are very difficult cars to drive at the limit.

  • You bring up an interesting point. I believe 'GR40Freak' mentioned that Bruce Griggs owns a Z06. If Griggs Racing wants to claim that there car is faster than the Z06, then why not actually prove it by eliminating all the variables. Reserve an empty track, equip both cars with the same tires, and have an INDEPENDENT driver drive both of them back-to-back. I am not saying that the GR40tt isnt good, but some 'hard evidence' of superiority would be nice considering the cars $64,000 price tag.

  • what kind of tires were you using and what tires did the z06 have on it?

  • to be fair the driver of the z was not pushing his car as hard as you were for one. everyone always tries to beat out a z on the track or street cause its the car to beat, but most z owner's just enjoy the ride and don't try to impress. but nice run

  • Actually he was. Knowing the driver and his capabilities, he drove very hard and gave up as we caught him. It was done for fun but also to prove a point. That being the our car is much more controllable at the limit and faster than a C6 Z06 around Laguna.

  • False, and True. IT depends who the driver is.

The ones who just enjoy it, I cheer for them. but you will find just as many people who buy it too impress.

  • I was the passenger in the car. There was no doubt that the car we were running down was a Z06. I saw it off the track, and as we passed it 5 feet to my right.

  • guy in the corvettes like WHAAA?!

caught up to him pretty fast.. even with a second person in the car

  • Wow that is a fast Mustang, and I'm a Chevy Fan!!

  • Any idea how much weight the Paxton adds to the front of a mustang?

  • About 90 lbs.

  • How much weight can be taken out with A/c Delete?

  • 50+ lbs.

  • wow. this car handles absolutely amazing. totally blew past everyone.

  • How many RPMs are you turning?

  • 6500

  • who is driving in the video? Didnt look like Guy was driving. (shufflesteering) Guy or Nick? Iooks like that first clean lap was a very fast, 1:41 for a 3900lb car. what are the mods?

Darrel's best time was at a race we just had at Laguna. 1:29, not 1:25

  • Guy was driving (he shuffles his hands) Nick was in the passenger seat. The car is the standard Griggs GR40TT Mustang, 2007 Mustang w/ GR40TT suspension, Griggs 4on4 brakes, Jongbloed wheels, 305 Toyo RA1s, Roll bar, Paxton supercharger. Makes 434HP to the ground and weighs 3500lbs without a driver. Guy and Nick are big boys easily 450lbs together.

  • Darrel's time is not 1:25, but 1:29 as of last SCCA race. I was in that race.

  • My bad, it is 1:29.8.

    Colin

  • Can you comment on the actual lap times? Using the screen counter it showed approx. 1:41 which a well driven C6Z supposedly can do. Motor Trend's last two handling tests with Angelelli and Pobst had some impressive times on street tires including a 1:40x in the C6Z, 1:39.5 in a GT3 and 1:35 in the ACR. Any comments and observations would be great, thanks!

  • Angelelli ran the GT3 to a 1:39.5 and it was on DOT slicks, standard on the GT3.

  • Actually they are Michellin Pilot Sport Cups, far from being a slick but a very aggressive, soft street tire.

A friend has run 1:39s and even a 1:38x in his 996 GT3 at Laguna as well.

  • how come you have to be quiet on that one part

  • The car is very close to Laguna Seca decibel limit of 91db, just being cautious.

  • thats one helluva mustang to run down a z06 on the track! kudos! i'm a gm guy, but respect anything that deserves respect, and that car is a complete monster!

  • Thank you for the comment, we've done allot of work to make the car handle the way it does.

  • great driving.

  • Nice video GR40Freak. Well put together. Putting in the text helps keep everything flowing.

I can respect any car regardless of make. I like Mustangs (see my videos) and I like Corvettes. Got to give credit to this Stang. Does this Mustang still have the live axle rear end? If so, what type of suspension are you runnung?

    Again, great video!

    Don

  • Thanks for deleting my post. I didn't realize we were not allowed to debate the accuracy of this video. I'm guessing also that you would say this car would eclipse the LS9 ZR1 Corvette at the Nurburgring? You know.....with equal drivers.

  • Your comment was blatantly negative and I'd rather not have that along with misinformation published on our page. Truthfully there really is no debate. We put a completely different chassis underneath the Mustang. It looks like a Mustang but doesn't drive like one. And yes it does go around corners faster than a Z06. We know because Bruce Griggs owns a Z06. I doubt it would stay with the ZR1. I bet it would be right there in the corners but it comes down to a horsepower war at that point.

  • Not to take anything away from Guy Cunningham, but the pass was at the sound booth where you're supposed to go slow and quite. Still great driving by Guy, especially against a Z06 which is 600 pounds lighter and only had the driver in it, Guy had a passenger and both Guy and Nick, his passenger, are big guys... BTW, the car is supercharged (centrifugal type), ProCharger I believe.

  • Thank you for the comment.

The GR40TT is equipped with a modified Paxton centrifugal supercharger with air-air intercooler.

  • The car is supercharged. There aren't any turbo kits that are 50-state smog legal.

  • Actually, STS turbos are supposed to be 50 state smog legal, according to their website. Yes, I know, it's a rear mount, but still lol!

    Nice pass!

  • if this is supercharged...i stand corrected that front end weight can be counter balanced. WOW! lap times in the low 1:40's.

  • funny what a supercharger and suspension will do to the 05+ mustangs, this car is off the hook!!

  • It's turbocharged I believe.

  • That is one of the best racing videos Ive seen in quite a while. Very nice!

  • He caught that z06 in 3 laps!

  • man, wish I had the money to buy one of those setups for my 05.
