  • Whales Saved: 2011 - 2012 Operation Divine Wind

    sea-shepherd:

    2011 - 2012 Operation Divine Wind

    Quota 1,035 (935 Minkes, 50 Fin, 50 Humpback)

    Actual Numbers killed 267

    Number saved 768

  • every year the japanese kill more than 1000 whale for rechers but how long a whale take to reach matuaruty . the thing is only the president of the usa can do something about it and hopefully ll the country around the world will agree to do so

  • 3/8/2012:

"Operation Divine Wind is over! The Japanese whalers are going home!

The Japanese whaling fleet has left the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary and they are heading home. Once Captain Peter Hammerstedt and his crew on the Bob Barker closed in on the Nisshin Maru on March 5th, whaling was effectively over for the season,”

  • research? what bull is that! dicks!

  • hehe whale meat looks like beef cool i would like to try it

  • that meat looks so lean and good i bet it taste more like a land animal than a fish, thats why they love it so much.

  • @BetoG34 it looks like cow meat i bet it taste great

  • Take a look at bull fighting in the west. The bull is harressed, tortured and emasculated so that men from that culture can gloat about their manhood. Sea Shepherd should take a good look the at inequities of their own culture before they jump on a boat and try to teach lessons to other cultures.

(John 8:7) let he who is without sin, cast the first stone at her...

    Practice what you preach... =)

  • @kryptondude1 yr right about bull fights i would like to see a fight where bull ave harp horns an man ave sharp sword and shied ten it would be a fine fight (an btw whale whores is about makin a show not savin whales)

  • Japan vs. Whales

    Winner: Japan

Loser: Uhhh..... you may don't want hear this, but: Whales!

    Boxing is so interesting.....

  • japoneses malditos.

  • if its for science why is the meat for sale?

  • @85gti

Because do you think that they will use ALL the parts of the whale as research?

Japanese people eat the waste, so that nothing remains, dumping the whale parts is a total waste. Its really weird for you to comment on that issue.

So that means you know nothing about whaling, Maybe youare simply one of the people who are brainwashed by these videos.

  • @85gti cause its good meat an puttin it back to ocean is crime some whale might eat it it would be cannibalism

  • GO SEA SHEPHERD!! :D

  • I use a translation machine.

There are 83 kinds of whales.

The Minke whale which Japan gets does not have the danger of extinction. Rather, it increases too much.

It is the same as cow and pig.

The United States has permitted the Inuit the whale of extinct species.

I was not interested in whaling and a dolphin fishery before.

However, whites' lie and ethnic discrimination were witnessed by web or TV, and Japan was absolutely sure that whaling should be continued.

  • FUCK YOU WHARE AND FUCK YOU DORPHEEN

  • Yes,whale is not a man.Whale is a whale, just a animal like a cow.

  • Ya'll need to leave info145 alone. He's just another guy like you or me, just stating the facts over this 8 year war. Quite frankly I appreciate what he's doing. Every new thing he posts lets me learn something I didn't already know. This man posts interesting facts on this subject because he cares about it. The LAST thing he needs is sordid critizism from you people.

  • info145 is a liar.

  • Just Shut them down.. For Fuck's Sake.

  • @TheStrawberryLolicon

THE WAR must be fought undyingly. The whalers are "over-harvesting" on an industrial scale! You say Humpback Whales are not endangered. But Whales are Whales. They're inoffensive to man and don't deserve this. Besides, the japanese are killing Minke Whales and Fin Whales and Beaked Whales and Sei Whales and Byrdes Whales... and most importantly, HUMPBACK Whales! Animals can too easily be pushed toward extinction. Remember the dodo

  • @ 0:25 I think that it has more to do with the fact that English is one of the world's univerally spokenn languages, and that ever since the end of World War 2, Japan has treated English as an official language (as in many of the major cities would have Japanese signposts with an english subtitle just below it, something many places closer to the UK or the USA don't do (e,g, France bar Disneyland, Germany, Spain))

  • "If you oceans die, we die" -Paul Watson

  • I think those japanese people could measure and collect some tissue samples of those whales without killing them !

  • @AzranZala

"Research" is a transparent cover story which allows them to exploit the anti-whaling law loophole. Collecting the meat to sell is the PRIME goal.

Note: What kind of research has a "quota"? The japanese themselves said "The Sea Shepherds are interfering with our PROCESSING of a whale on our FACTORY ship." (not "research of a whale on a science vessel"). Fact: In April of 2010, what was the foremost charge Captain Bethune was arrested for? "Obstruction of business".

  • if this is for the science??!! come on, if its for research you dont have to kile 1000 whales a year!!! fuck those japanese 'research' people!!!

  • The McRib is back.

  • The Japs, the Gooks, Dinks, are nothing but fuckin savages and deserve all the fucked up shit that happens to them.

  • Call in a navy ship, those guys will stop

  • fuck you japanise make a chicken farm in stead of eating a endangerd animal >:D

  • Maybe just ban the selling of Whale. No part of the whale may be sold and all research purpose whale must go to waste.

  • imbéciles hagan públicos los videos para compartirlos

  • Scientific Research my ass, fucking homo asians

  • It makes little political or economic sense for the japanese fleet to return to the coast of Antarctica, but their motivation has now shifted from hunting whales into refusing to surrender to the SSCS. “They will have to kill us to prevent us from intervening once again,” said Watson. “Are the Japanese people ready to take human lives in defense of this horrifically cruel and illegal slaughter of endangered and protected species of whales?" w w w. bymnews. com /news /newsDetails. php? id=88473

  • That part about written in English was bullshit. English is Japan's second language. Many things there are written in English. For example, on the side of their bullet train, that have the letters JR and something like Japan Central Railway. Do the Japanese people know what that means? No they don't. To them they already know the trains are run by JR. That could be the same case here. What he said wasn't fair.

  • They are taking advantage of the law to cover there own asses it's total FUCKING SHIT and they are getting away with it, I'd love to take a RPG to the Japanese fishing ships.

  • Savages..

  • ok, tell me why those signs that say Scientific Research are only in English if it rly was for Scientific Research it be in Japanese.

  • @guitarismyresistance I get exactly what you mean, the only way to cover up their actions is to make sure nations like Australia are convinced, but i'm sorry, they're worng, we know exactly what those savages are doing.

  • What if a law came into effect TOMORROW which absolutely bans killing of all whales, not even one whale for any reason? Penalty being international trade embargo, a total boycott on ALL japanese goods?

    What would the japanese do?

  • kill them

  • Wow.. The whole world is gonna die

  • @M4ttM4n20

    An old Cree Indian Prophecy:

Only after the last tree has been cut down,

Only after the last fish has been caught,

Only after the last river has been poisoned,

Only then will you realize that money cannot be eaten.

  • Whale meat is a delicacy. This is NOT for survival.

Whale meat sells for $64. per pound. So one Minke of 6 tons would make the whalers $768,000...

unless the meat is discovered to have high levels of mercury in it, then the heroes of Japan generously donate those batches to schools, to serve as lunches because they can't sell it.

The batches they do keep (and don't get SOLD) go bad in a warehouse and get dumped. Then they go out hunting for re-stock

  • Cetaceans are the next intelligent lifeform on Earth.

Yet they're slaughtered and eaten, and never "replenished". It's not fair. We can share this planet

  • @info145 well said man, well said.

  • @info145 WHAT are the next intelligent lifeform on earth ?

  • The list. Out of the millions of animal species in history... Top 12 Smartest Animals ever on Earth: 12. Portia Labiata Jumping Spider 11. Raccoon 10. Rats 9. Ravens & Crows 8. Dogs (namely, The Border Collie) & Cats (namely, The American Shorthair) 7. Rhesus Macaque Monkey 6. North Pacific Giant Octopus 5. African Grey Parrot 4. Elephants 3. Capuchin Monkey 2. Dolphins (namely, Bottlenose) & Whales 1. Apes (namely, Chimpanzee and Gorilla). i didn't make it up. Google it

  • @info145 I suppose cetaceans are whales and the like ? No mention of the collective intelligence of insects Which is considerable !

  • @ppaull40

Maybe they'd be number 13. Who knows?

  • @info145 unlucky for some , lucky for others

  • @info145 fucking pussy eco terrorist hippie

  • @kn1b1s95

    Nope!

    i'm a tree hugger.

    GET IT RIGHT

  • @canofwhipass Whaling actualy is not illegal. As for unethical, well that is a matter of opinion

  • RESEARCH MY ASS!!!

  • People we need to stay calm! They only killing whales! Nothing serious...

  • "Japanese Suicide Rate Swells Amid Prolonged Economic Slump".

    en. wikipedia. org/wiki/Suicide_in_Japan

"Common methods of suicide are jumping in front of trains, leaping off high places, hanging, or overdosing on medication. Rail companies will charge the families of those who commit suicide a fee depending on the severity of disrupted traffic."

  • PISS, SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH? BULLSHIT.

  • Yep. Cause you can research a dead animal who's stomach has half been blown apart.

  • Every time I eat whale meat, I do a little happy dance, you know...out of respect for the whale.

  • @The6sicksikhs You also lose alot of brain cells and get a littlebit drugged, maybe thats where your ''happy dance'' comes from?

  • @TehBigDK...maybe.

  • Scientific Research MY ASSS !!!

  • Research of how delicious whale's meet can be.

  • Typhoon Talas, the most damaging typhoon to hit Japan since 2004, kills at least 32 people. The word Talas is a Filipino word meaning sharpness.

3200 people were evacuated in 16 prefectures, 700 houses were flooded, 9500 houses were without power, 400 flights were cancelled leaving approximately 34,000 stranded. Talas broke Japan's rainfall record

  • Comment removed

  • i am hat whaleskillers i am from austria

  • The Sea Shepherds hit where it hurts. As we all know by now, Whales are very susceptible to toxins (just like mercury). Well, when the japanese kill a whale, the Shepherds use the legally harmless "stink bombs" to taint the meat so the whalers can't profit from it. So now they've spent the costs of fuel, salaries for their men, food & supplies, whatever licenses, and bribes... and have nothing to show for it but bankruptcy.

This, plus the court battles, will bring it all to an end eventually

  • If this was "Scientific Research" then won't it be illegal to whale meat in consumer markets?

  • @HeartGold356 The Japanese state they eat the whale after they 'study' it because they don't want the 'whale to go to waste.' There are stores who sometimes 'forget' that whaling is illegal.

  • @xFlyByNight14x Whaling is not illegal mate

  • @chrissy111222333 xD I know... bad choice of words lol

  • Bullshit. If Sea Shepherd really wanted to stop whaling, why do they waste so much time and money crashing their own boats, uselessly throwing butter and shooting faggy, little green lasers? Why not just equip their boats with underwater acoustical devices (LRAD), follow the whalers and blast their underwater LRAD and the whales wouldn't come within 10 miles. I'll tell you why not : That would be boring "Whale Wars" TV and Paul Watson, the attention/money whore, needs drama to fleece the rubes.

  • @The6sicksikhs Sea Shepherd would continue with or without the filming. But I think that would be illegal, as it would count as harm to the whale (I think). Also sonar devices and such confuse whales. It makes them beach themselves

  • ok. first off i am not an sympathyser for whale killing. but paul watson is a terrorist. he is doing illegal acts, sinking neutral ships, hell, some people have even died... he needs to be stopped. there are better ways of accomplishing what he wants damnit. wake up idiots, everybody who are agains't terrorism and still support thius guys methods still have ALL of their work still ahead of them.......

  • @kirtorn lawlawlawlawlawlawl

  • Here's what I don't understand. In season 1 & 3 the M/V Steve Irwin Could keep up with the Nisshin Maru and even circle around them. But in season 2 the M/V Steve Irwin couldn't catch up to block the whale transfer. Did they have an engine malfunction or something. Please respond if you know the answer to why they couldn't keep up in season 2.

  • Whales dont belong here! Japan needs to kill them all!!

  • only that the fucking yellow mens can eat meat

  • Paul Watson is a liar and everything in his series is a lie. He does this to sell his documentary films!

  • @helgihvannastein u have proof???

  • @helgihvannastein

Anything the Sea Shepherds do is fine. They just need the publicity to bring up public awareness of what's going on all the way down there by Antarctica (things the world never sees).

Whatever a TV station will accept and broadcast. It has to be interesting so people will watch. Animal Planet is free to edit as they wish, because the footage they tape becomes THEIR property.

  • no one realizes that by killing ANY ANIMAL will affect our planet like the whales if there were no whales it would eventually cause the ocean to go out of balance and would work its way up the food chain to us the human race and eventually in the final moments end the way of life same with polar bears and all other animals and we will lead ourselves to our doom all because of money

  • @luvzanyandeverything Its ok whaling is sustainable and whale numbers are increasing every year

  • that meat looks delicious :D

  • ive heared that they stopped after the tsunami so they used the whale fleet to rescue people back in japan

  • "Research" is the cover story which allows them to exploit the loophole. Collecting the meat to sell is the prime goal.

Note: What kind of research has a "quota"? The japanese themselves said "The Sea Shepherds are interfering with our PROCESSING of a whale on our FACTORY ship." (not "research of a whale on their science vessel")

  • If you eat enogh of this you wil glow in the dark.

  • Japanese thinking: Issei Sagawa (born June 11, 1949) is a japanese man who in 1981 murdered and cannibalized a Dutch woman named Renée Hartevelt. After his release, he became a celebrity in Japan and made a living through their public's interest in his crime. Sagawa described himself as a "weak, ugly, and small man" and claims that he wanted to "absorb her energy". His wealthy father provided a top lawyer for him, but he was released after only two years and without a trial. wikipedia. org

  • Episode: "BATTLE STATIONS"

The whalers threw a spear at the Sea Shepherds in an attempt to either hurt someone or puncture the inflatable and send everyone into the freezing ocean.

The Shepherds have never tried to harm any of them like that.

They were NOT defending themselves either. They were safe up in their big steel ship.

  • Killing innocent animals for " research" is OK. But perform it on another, more abundant species. Other than whales.

  • @SILENTKILLERX96

OK, so people will not ever stop eating animals, but there are guidelines that should be followed:

    1) Don't kill animals whose subsistence is in question.

    2) Kill quickly and humanely.

    3) Replenish.

    4) Respect an animal's sanctuary!

The poachers ignore all of these basic common sense points of logic and human decency

  • @info145 Agreed. But it is rather disappointing that the researched meat is crated and stocked in store shelves for their own profit. I know people must consume meat, but why whales? Why not certain species of tuna. Tuna swim in the ocean like clouds float in the sky. There's plenty of them to research, replenish, and respect. (Along with certain guidelines)

  • @SILENTKILLERX96 Whales are a divine and intelligent lifeform. Second only to man on this Earth. A lot of japanese believe there are weird "energies" in flesh that can stimulate like magic. It's why Issei Sagawa became an instant celebrity in Japan among the masses.

  • @info145 True whales are divine and intelligent. They're the largest mammals on the face of the Earth. If the Japanese believe in energies from beings so be it. I don't criticize them for their beliefs. If people want to agree with what Issei Sagawa did, that's alright. ( Although I can't condone cannibalism. ) By the way thanks for that tip on Issei Sagawa. I never knew that.

  • @SILENTKILLERX96 I would like to point out that tuna are very over fished. One of the most over fished species in the world i believe

  • @chrissy111222333 yes that is true, but but there are many different types of the species of tuna. Most of which are held in safe captivity so the species can continue to live on.

  • I'm no softy tree hugging animal lover but killing those great beasts is just plain wrong.

Research? - what a load of bollocks

  • They are eating the whales, it is nothing worse then fishing for tuna.

  • 1 million for a whale, fuck this im gonna be a whaler!

  • What comes around goes around with the US as well, starting with the hurricanes and oil spilled.

Meat is meat, not that I don't care about any animals but I don't see a problem even if whales do go extinct beside that the whale lovers will just be crying.

  • @ChueHang17 You're in idiot. If whales die, lots of other things will die too. I don't see a problem even if you go extinct, so go die. Do everyone a favor and rot you chinky fuck.

  • @xbeast133 Here's come the cry baby, and no, you're the idiot. Whales are among some of the animals that are at the top of the food chains, so therefore if they're gone, there won't be a huge impact. I don't see a problem either even if you go extinct so you might as well die too that way there won't be anymore retards from your bloods.

Do everyone a favor and learn to speak in a more manners way if you try to prove someone wrong, because in the end you'll make yourself looks like an idiot.

  • @ChueHang17 The REAL impact would be the over population of the prey species. And the fact that our grand children won't be able to enjoy the beauty of them like we have because honestly, we take advantage of it.

  • @xbeast133 Well, the way I see it is that whenever a specie extinct, usually there will always be another one to fill in the spot, evolution have always been that way for the past centuries. I do agree with you that overpopulate can be an issue too, if that's the case there will be more foods available for humans but can still be a problems in a way. Whales are very intelligent animal, but not everything is perfect so sometime we just can't prevent everything. Thanks for being civil this time.

  • @ChueHang17 You see, whales don't eat big things that humans do. They eat a tiny shrimp like creature called a Krill, which is inedible to humans. They eat them by the thousands in order to get enough to support their MASSIVE body. If there weren't whales, the krill would over populate, eating up all the algae that the small fish eat. Then the smaller fish would starve and die off. Then the larger predatory fish that WE eat would starve because there would be no food for them. Get it now?

  • @xbeast133 I'm well aware of the krill, I understand that most whales eat krill, but they are not the only one that does, sharks, seals, penguins, squids and fishes eat krill too. Due to the whales massive body, they're able to eat more krill than any other animals which helps a lot, but like I said earlier, as specie evolve there will always be one to fill in the vacant spot if available, so I wouldn't be surprise to see another species of gigantic fish pop up and take over the whales spot.

  • What comes around goes around with the Japanese. Starting with the Earthquake and the Tsunami.

  • how about someone else takes over the research from japan and do it better by not killing the whales

  • MURDER!!!!!

  • I believe killing whales is bad, even though I'm japanese. But Canada kills thousands of seals a year, and the US butchers chickens and cows. Dont just pick on the japanese. Look at other countries, they slaughter animals too. May whales R.I.P.

  • @KoolAZN222 chickens and cows won't extinguish, whales will!

  • how the hell is that reasearch whaling? total BS!!!!

  • @munchbox1995 yea your dad has slanted eyes and yellow skin... so do you

  • @duffthebeast That's not racist at all.

  • @duffthebeast hmm pseudo racist comment. Username is ''duffthebeast''. Obvious Amerifag is obvious.Your dad is a fat fuck who works a minimum wage job with white skin (YAY FOR INCREASED CHANCE OF GETTING CANCER AND SUN BURNS!!!) and also your eyes ain't normal fucking look like aliens from those movies.

  • @MrWhatwatwut you mad?

  • Jun 21, 2011: "Life in the oceans is at imminent risk of the worst extinction in millions of years due to threats such as climate change and over-fishing, a study showed. • My dad says that whales taste good, i agree.

  • If whales were useful they would have grown feet like the rest of the mammals. One wrong move and your next dolphins!

  • Bunch of whales fuckers. Tsunami in japan is nothing compare to your constant tornadoes and hurricanes in the lower states, fags.

  • Hello cheap documentary fans. This is junredneck1 the evangelist. Here’s the spiritual message I just received from God.

JAPANESE ARE A DIVINE RACE. THEY ARE ENTITLED TO EAT WHALE. RESPECT THEIR HOLLY CULTURE OR YOU SHALL GO TO HELL.

  • @junredneck1 you got the message wrong..he said you were a sick fucker.

  • @607777777 God always tells us "Love your enermy" So I love you!

  • @junredneck1 ...That's nice pity you don't love whales as well!

  • @607777777 Of course I love whales. They are our food created by God.

  • @junredneck1 The Lord give it and the Lord take it away...forgive them Lord for they no what they(you) do!

  • @junredneck1 ..With hells breath I spit at thee....go play with sick shit now rack off!

  • @607777777 Here's another spiritual message from Heaven

607777777, YOU ARE A DISGRACE TO MY HOLLINESS. THE ONLY WAY YOU SHALL BE FORGIVEN IS TO GO TO JAPAN AND SPEND 10000 YEN ON WHALE MEAT TO SUPPORT THE WHALING INDUSTORY.

  • @junredneck1 What happened to your own 'Japanese God; he tell you to fuck off as well.

  • fucking japan dogs... diee all...

  • Badasses. Ecoterrorists. Vandals. What a resume.

    Whale dericious!

  • If they are only allowed to kill a "certain number of whales" they I really don't see what the big problem is. I'm sure the law prevents any sort of huge threat to the whale populations and food web. Is the whole argument here over it being ethical to kill whales or what?

  • As much as we love our Japanese allies from the US, they have been punished by mother nature.

  • @metalrave And was hurricane Katrina punishment from mother nature for the states?

  • @openblue07 Yes

  • @metalrave wouldnt know what the punishment was for, nor did it have the same impact

  • Lol, its all ok for us to criticise Japanese about killing whales, but I thought we ate cows? Chickens? Pig? I guess humans aren't smart enough to come up with a new source of protein. Lets just kill animals for theirs. I'm as guilty as anyone too. -_-

  • "Dietary habits"? They eat krill and sometimes fish! What more do you need to know?

  • Whale meat sells for $64. per pound. So one Minke of 6 tons would make the whalers $768,000.

Unless the meat is discovered to have high levels of mercury in it, then the heroes of Japan generously donate those batches to schools to serve as lunches because they can't sell it

  • @CaptainAAllen mass produce it huh ok man dont be mad dude its ok why are you even trying to argue you or anybody dont have the power from stopping them a bogus argument why doesnt anyone argue about the economy thats about to collapse everyone is worried about animals and such oh right im a dumbass go argue with a 12 year old about whales and fishes

  • @CaptainAAllen uh ok like i typed who gives a shit and plus if it wasnt for the Japanese we wouldnt have these technologies that we have now so like i typed who gives a shit i wouldnt mind eating whale

  • Why is it always Japs and Chinks that fuck up populations of sea creatures? I hope they all die, cunts

  • I guess the japs didnt learn their lesson the first time, alright boys load up the nukes

  • Wow it does look pretty good to eat

  • @CaptainAAllen And? are you going to live with the whales and read them bed time stories and also may i add Tigers are goin extinct aswell in Africa why isnt anyone saying anything oh right because its a dangerous wild animal that would kill you well so would a big ass whale and you dont see japanese ships going after ships that cage up crabs cause its how they make a living
