  • Amazing work. Love it.

  • Love your videos! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us : )

  • Thanks for the comment Gina!

  • Yes, you can use a little quilting iron for spreading the wax.

Yes, I've used it on baltic birchwood Carla, and it's very nice.. smells so nice to

    xox

  • Thanks for another great lesson. No yak yak here I appreiate what you have just taught me.

  • Hi Nadine,

Thank you for your great compliment :)

  • Hi Carla and I do know how to spell appreciate.

  • Very nice, Carla! Your video was a bit like meditating :-). I have seen people on YouTube use the really small "irons" used by quilters for smaller details. I have also seen people use small amounts of wax crayons..like kids use in coloring books..but I think you would have to experiment with using large amounts of it because the formulas are very different and it might have a tendency to crack and flake off. Let us know if you try it. Thanks for sharing.

  • Yeah, you can buy little irons for special use with wax, here in Holland too, and you can buy a special 'hot pencil' with all kind of tools. But that's expensive (if you not sure You are gonna use it a lot), I'm not rich, and I already had an old iron :)

I don't think it will flake off my little canvas, because it isn't that thick you know. If I do more with wax I'll show!

  • Shalom Karla, interesting, but I wish to know what a "Encaustic" card is and also is wax crayon the same as oil crayons like Crayola?

  • Beautiful, Carla!! Love the colors and really like what you did on canvas. I've never done this kind of work ... does it have to be sealed with something when it's finished?

  • The woman who did the workshop said it hasn't to be sealed, but others may think is has to be. So I don't know for sure.. :)

  • Carla, this is exactly what I needed to right now. This was so relaxing to watch. These pieces don't even look like they came from this world! Thanks for teaching and sharing my dear friend.

  • Thank you Lisa!

Isn't it wonderfull what you can make with this? I like it, I did one for inspiration on a big canvas (but I don't think it will be so nice at the end as the little wax card).

When do you leave Lisa? This weekend, monday?

  • This morning. I am trying to wake up. I haven't slept much in days!

  • Hi Angela, thanks for your compliment :)

  • That turned out nice Carla. Thanks for sharing your video! "smile"

  • Wonderful video carla!

    Have you tried on wood?

    Mariette xox

  • No not yet Mariette, but I've seen this on MDF, and that looks good to me, so wood could be a possibility too I guess. Did you try it?

  • Carla.. that's fantaustic... really, I love it. I've seen wax artists put a big folded clean towel next to the iron and they just drag in on the towel to clean it in between colors. That may help instead of using a paper towel; no burning the fingers. I wonder if you can use children's crayons also?

  • That's a good idea, just an old towel :)

I did this before, about 20 years ago, and then I used oil pastels (in Holland we call it 'wasco') and that works fine as long as you use the right paper.

  • Thank you for another wonderful how-to video.

  • You're welcome Deborah, thank you for watching :)
