Whats with all the chatter? I'm sure ATC didn't require him to declare an emergency again and give another rundown, as it had clearly already been made known to him by one or both of these pilots. Seems like his wingman was getting a tad excited ;)
He says that coz with an engine flameout, you often lose parts of hydraulics as well. Which means that your ability to put the wheel-brakes or control the nose-steering may be affected.
Fuel savings at the expense of a lot of sweat. Nice job, and thanks for saving the taxpayers a pile of money. It has to be tough, and to rub it in, you've got "WARN" flashing in your face on the HUD. Very cool. Thanks for the vid.
Awesome! Phenomenal! THAT is how you do it. The F-16 isn't renowned for its gliding capabilities, but even though this guy was probably sweating bullets, you couldn't tell...that it could fly like a glider or he was sweating bullets, either way. I bet the US gave this guy a bonus for saving the taxpayer one jet. I'd buy him a steak dinner myself!
good job but i cant believe this made the news.. this stuff goes on once every week at the least somewhere but yeh not a bad job. maybe they didnt have anything else to talk about that day.
mmm..most interesting, quite alot of heavy breathing on short finals, purhaps this pilot should concentrate on landing rather than wanking on short finals.
If you think the landing was good due to another engine failure then you need to check out the history of this plane and it's engine maker. These F-16's have such a high crash rate from flame out's to pilot's getting disoriented that you are lucky to survive your aviation career in one of them. Don't believe then look it up for yourself, but my hat is off to our brave pilot's who fly them day in and day out.
I knew an F-16 pilot who bailed out because the engine fell out of the back of the plane. The restraining bolts broke, alowing the whole engine block to slide out the back.
Yeah, everyone knows that is why the F-16 seat is reclined, so that the pilot just pushes the "Engine Out Please Land" button and then sits back to relax.
Damn sweet.

I just noticed it actually says "WARN" not "HARM" lol
I was thinking why would he have that on for an emergency landing? Maybe wanted to make a last ditch effort to take out EW before crashing? haha

They have to try to save a half a million dollar fighter jet. If they think it's a no win the pilot will eject.

more like 50 millions dollar jet

Great vidio/audio. And a great landing! His breathing almost show's he was a little white-knuckled on final/landing. Well done.

The pilot was so relaxed, listen to his breathing... Walk in the park...

Should consider a job with NASA shuttles where every landing, albeit planned, is a deadstick. Outstanding video of an outstanding pilot.

Great job handling the engine flame out, good energy management and a great display of CRM by the wingman. Way to go!

Great job on a flameout landing, super CRM with his wingman. Way to go!

That's a savings of a few million dollars. Thank you.
