i work in childcare and preschool and babysit about once a week, so i'm always acting like a child. but i also have to be responsible. i feel very much like Wendy lady and it makes me smile lots.
Can I just say, I work in a shop where we have to ID people who buy lottery tickets & stuff, and it's not if you look under 16. It's if you look under 25. It's so that we don't end up with a massive fine, loose our licence and end up in prison. And also, a lot of 15 year olds, especially girls, do look like they are 25.
Me and my friends are actually having to write a blog together on Student life for our Creative Writing class, so we've been discussing blogs a lot and I keep wanting to mention yours. Alas I'm far to shy for that.
Do you have any particular blog writing advice, perhaps?
Aww Rosi I'm glad to be making the fort with you too! (Well watch you in it.) I USED TO PLAY SCHOOLS ALL THE TIME! My sister used to be the teacher first and would say that I could be it next but she never let me :( she always just said next time :( next time never came :( (Something I clearly haven't gotten over til this day haha.)
Saffy's Angel was such a wonderful book (and the following books about her siblings), my name is Saffron also so I loved having a protagonist share the same name as I. I too grew up enamoured by the idea of an English boarding school (all the way from Australia) my obsession with Enid Blyton's St Clare and Mallory Towers girls had me longing to play lacrosse before I discovered how rough and tumble it really was. This was a lovely video. Thank you
You are succeeding much better at these challenges than I am Rosi, well done! I must admit I will be ever so sad to not see your face in my sub box every day come Feb 1st :(
They asked me for my ID when I tried to buy a sixpack of alcoholfree beer, what makes it even more ridiculous is, that I was 21 and the drinking age for beer in my country was 16 at the time.
i love the family from one end street - but i have never met anyone else who read it , finally i know someone at least has experienced the joy that is the family from one end street :)
I haven't read 'The family from one end street' for years'! God, it was so brilliant! My Dad used to read it to me when I was little. I totally know what you mean about it compared to the Casson family series- both make you feel completely part of the family and so involved with their lives... MUST reread it now!
in corner shops and supermarkets they're often trained to ID you for lottery if you look 18 or under so don't be too perplexed. worked in one for far too long now
I got charged for an under-twelve meal at Pizza Hut once. I'll be seventeen next month, and I got charged for this last year. My friend thought I should be offended but I took this as a massive HUZZAH moment - I got a freaking DISCOUNT! XD
I think every child (or teen) who reads a lot dreams about going off and having adventures at a boarding school. I know I do. There's something almost magical about a place with tons of kids, no parents, and very little supervision. Even if the school isn't actually, you know, magical. Although that's always a plus.
I ALWAYS wished I could have gone to boarding school. My best friend and I played this game for about two years where my house was the school. We made up schedules and boyfriends and homework for ourselves. My favorite part was making up a class schedule, which is actually my favorite part of real school too.
Rosi! I also made a fort every year in college with my roommates. One year I think we lived in it for a week, haha! :) I try to never forget the wonder I felt as a child, and I admire you for doing the same.
I think there's at least one thing that Disney got right, who says we can't be a kid at ANY age! :) I've been playing neopets recently which I hadn't done in AGES, so I guess that's childish, I got my first account when I was probably 5 or 6! :)
I also made a blanket fort! My friend came over after our exams (blech) and we indulged ourselves in our wonderful fort pairing it along with dunkaroos, red juice, and Sydney White. Ahh the joys of reminiscing. It was pretty much the perfect break on exam week today.
SAFFY'S ANGEL! I actually have been searching that book after I got it out of the library in my last week of year 6, and had to give it back before I finished it.
I will turn 24 in two month and I have never built a fort in my life, definitively something I've missed, but I like these acting childlike events and if someone would invite me to join him building a fort, I would definitely do it, because you should never lose the child in you.
On my best friends 21st, the check out woman in Tesco wouldn't let him buy alcohol because I was with him and she thought he was buying it for me and I didn't have ID to prove I was 20 at the time - I thought that was a bit ridiculous, not only that she thought I was 17 or younger but that she wouldn't even sell it to someone who was with me (even worse is that I don't drink). =P
Happy birthday Rosianna and welcome to the twenties! I'm not there jet, but will be in a few months. I love that you spent your first day post-teenager being childish. Hope you had a great day :)
@missxrojas Oops, sorry! Obviously I didn't read your blog that thoroughly. I just read it as "I am, as of Wednesday 25th January 2012, twenty years of age" and left out the "and some five or six months". The funny thing is that I wished you a happy birthday on your actual birthday in August, but for some reason I didn't remember it. Anyway, you can just save this comment for a few months and come back when it's your birthday :)
When I was at the airport a couple months ago the passport control officer asked me if I was over 18 (I'm 22, so I guess it wasn't *too* much of a stretch). I think he was wondering if I was a minor and needed an escort!
Forts are my favorite. I sent you a video response from an older fort I made, I hope that is alright with you! I have never heard of caterpillar cake until yesterday when you mentioned it. It sounds really nice though. I also like your cat whiskers and nose :) x
Today I read a book called Sandy Lane Stables (theres a video about it on my channel) I make a lot of forts! Everyone should! I've even made a fort out of books before :)
This video was awesome. We used to make forts occassionally and defend them with nerf guns and watch old simpsons reruns from them during Uni. Never in footy pyjamas though which was lame.
It was my mates 20th birthday yesterday so to remember our childhood our house set up an 'old school' birthday buffet, we had cold pizza, pineapple and cheese on cocktail sticks, cocktail sausages, mini scotch eggs, crisps then party rings and jelly and ice cream for pudding :) Love being a child!!
I can relate - this summer I took a plane on my own and when I gave the lady at the desk my passport she asked how old I was. (Why she did not just read my passport is a mystery to me.) I said I was 17 to which she responded: Really? I thought you were 12!!! whilst shaking her head incredulously.
You are clearly still adorable, as if there was any doubt of that. Did you see the fort Evy Lynch made out on her hotel balcony? Awesome minds think alike.
Adorable video. :) My mom works in hotels so my sisters and I used to set up our house like a hotel. We even had papers with logos on it, menus for the restaurant, room keys, etc.
I still sleep with a stuffed animal at night, too. ;)
I used to get carboard packing boxes, open them up and link them together by the flaps :P, thus creating a tunnel which I put in the conservatory, at the end was a room made with the same boxes, I just had two flat ones for the roof and either side for the walls. Hours of fun

I hate when people get my age wrong... But thats life. Also why would you shatter the illusion! I was sure some strange cat like creature had hijacked your channel :O
I tried to buy a 12-rated DVD in Tesco last year and the woman wouldn't let me because I didn't have any ID - this was last year, and I was eighteen, and not being able to buy a 12 indicates that apparently I look /eleven/?!
@isjustforshiggles morrisons let me buy a 15-rated game when i was seven, i still don't know how that works. also, if you use a self scanning checkout, you can occassionally get through no problems, which is good if you are a fourteen year-old who wants to buy 18 rated DVDs.
To be fair, most supermarkets have a think 25 policy where we (I work in Sainsburys) have to id anyone who looks under 25 for age related products. Usually for alcohol and tobacco but clearly some enforce this rule too much!
Just before Christmas, me and three of my friends got together, built a crazy fort in my friends tiny living room, and watched Love Actually. It was the most perfect evening in existence.
I'm 18 and several people give me between 12 and 14, I don't know why though I don't look that young but I try to see it as good thing i guess :) me and my brother used to build forts too..hmmm nostalgia
When I was 10 I got asked if I went to pre-school yet by this random old lady on the bus. I mean, aside from the fact that WHO WOULD LET A FIVE YEAR OLD GET THE BUS BY THEMSELVES AT 8 IN THE MORNING? I was pretty distraught. But hey, I was a tiny, tiny, child.
I actually think I remember Kristina writing in a blog a while ago about how a co-worker of one of her parents or someone like that thought she was only about fifteen years old too, haha.
