  • Perhaps a young Chris Wallace presenting the award at 0:47 at the Sharaton Back Bay...

  • Nearing the ending of the second promo, I saw some familiar faces: Jack Williams, Liz Walker, Bruce Schwoegler, Bob Lobel, Joyce Kulhawik, and Barry Nolan & Sara Edwards (hosts of the now-defunct "Evening Magazine).

  • Yes it is me!!

    alan

  • Say, isn't that Alan Bleviss doing the first ad?

  • I'd like to see some promos from KPIX-TV in San Francisco, which was also a Group W station like WBZ since I used to live in the Bay Area.

  • Today's 4 is a whole lot less. They just let Bob Lobel and Joyce Kulhawik go. The Station is not the same ever since CBS took over.

  • WBZ-TV embarked on the road to decline when they cut local programming during the early 1990s. This sea change occurred during Group W ownership.

  • At 1:23 there's my old bud(Hard Copy and Extra) Barry Nolan in the chopper.

  • Let's not forget Nolan hosted "Evening Magazine"

and now currently hosting "Backstage" on cn8, the Comcast Network.

  • "Was" hosting "Backstage" on CN8. He recently got the boot for insulting Bill O'Reilly.

  • Since WBZ-TV will be celebrating its 60th birthday in 2008, I hope they bring back the

    "Today's 4" campaign as part of WBZ's 60th birthday!

  • What's amazing is Bob Lobel, Joyce Kulhawik, Liz Walker and Jack Williams are STILL a part of the station and we approaching 2008! Barry Nolan is on Comcast as is Sara Edwards I believe. Edd Kalehoff's theme is awesome, the WCVB "And You" theme/campaign around the same time is the only one that rivals it in terms of genuine awe-inspiringness IMO.

  • yeah, they're complete, except Bruce the weatherman who just retired. we'll all gonna miss him, though.

  • I keep watching this impressive set of promos. Edd Kalehoff really captured the feeling and spirit. The "Today's 4" theme is addictive for TV promo collectors and fans. JimMastersTV

  • I have to agree. This was probably WBZ's best campaign ever.

  • Whoever you are, I LOVE YOU!!! I've been Wanting to SEE one of these promos for a long time, Thank You!

  • VintageTelevision, Keep it up. Your selection of vintage TV content is stellar. I've played this one over and over and made it a favorite on my JimMastersTV channel. I work in the industry and welcome you to subscribe to my channel as well if you like.

Again, I love TV promotion and you are bringing back not only memories, you are showing how TV used to really go all out to promote! Best, JimMastersTV

  • Exciting, authoritative news promos, warm and energetic and catchy station image promos. "Today's 4". One of the great TV station image campaigns. You don't see stations creating such elaborate promos anymore and as a big fan and collector of such promos and someone who is in the broadcasting business, it is sad to see.

These promos gave you a sense that WBZ-4 was THE station to watch. Created by the same team that created the popular "We're 4 New York" for WNBC- TV 4 New York.
