The worst of Bores is the acting. James Rolfe can sometimes pull off over-the-top anger, but that's one thing the Irate Gamer show could never copy correctly. And of course, Bores can get pretty monotone at times.

Also, his spelling is shit.

While I do find some guys who can still pull off the choleric critic act, I think the whole angry reviewer shtick is slowly starting to loose the appeal it once had. Guys like Amake21, PlayitBogart and Fatman Judgeth eventually got fed up doing those kind of reviews all the time. Hell, even James Rolf is focusing his more of his efforts towards other more non-AVGN projects (aside from his feature length movie).

Is it just me, or were PlayitBogart and Urinating Tree far more entertaining than AVGN? Rolfe was never much of a writer. I honestly can't think of one written joke of his that led to spontaneous laughter. Now, playitbogart had some comedic talent. His frame of reference was also quite vast. One of my issues with James is that he doesn't seem to be well-versed on anything outside of NES games or campy horror films. Rolfe may have established this genre but he wasn't the best.

@ChomskyandCheetos IMO, PlayitBogart and Urinating Tree were on par with AVGN, but to each his own, I guess.

To James Rolfe's credit, he does understand his audience and I get the impression that he wants to give his audience what they want, which is a task that very few people are willing to do. Though some would argue the this could demean the quality of his output, Rolfe strives hard to maintain that balance. Of course, That's just what I think.

Bores is the typical "kid goes to film school because he dreams of making movies." I've known quite a few people like him. They learn certain techniques, but lack innovation, originality, talent, inspiration, depth, etc. I think James Rolfe falls into this category, but to a lesser degree. I honestly think Rolfe's film reviews are his best work.

I mean, they're raking in views by just sitting there and playing the newest game releases. Awesome video games didn't appeal to the 10-13 year old crowd, therefore, didn't generate revenue.

I'm looking forward to seeing how that Monster Party project turns out. I have been following it for a bit. Sadly they have said they can't find Beta Pictures of everything so it won't turn out exactly like the original. But i have no doubt in my mind they won;t take a good crack at it, and again i can't wait to see how it turns out. I also had to laugh how the IRateGamer tried to challange the logic of the Story as to why a boy was picked. I've seen that more then once in a Video game.

Copying AVGN shouldn't have bothered people that much in retrospect. James may have been the "original" foul-mouthed gamer, but anyone who wanted to challenge AVGN & try to outdo him had every right to do so.

But no one ever came close; everyone else who tried the gimmick sucked, & Bores got the most heat simply because he was always #2.
