Actually if we fail now, I doubt a humanity will be around to survive in the long run. If world war hasn't killed us off then centuries of runaway global warming will. Dyer pretty much states as much at the end of his book "Climate Wars". Humanity will sink or swim as a high energy society . . . what kind is yet to be seen. One that adapts to nature and lasts longer or does not and ends earlier.
