  • I HAVE THIS SET ON MY PHONE! i love it^_^!!!!!!!

  • Fark sorry all Janette Lewis shake your body it is

  • Anyone know what the opening track is the one that sounds like body, body, body. Thanks 77434 for LFO track

  • @brismike65 Jeanette Thomas - Shake Your Body

  • @fullmetalchamploo thanks fullmetal ;) BTW if you read this, got some brilliant news Aphex Twin is coming to my city in Australia to play live next March SO HAPPY, seen him once before but this is the full show. Also found Shake on tunes so got copy so thanks for confirming that is the track

  • @eyeflow9 and finally ''Music is subjective - one man's Porsche is another man's Mini - just don't come onto Video comments pages and accuse people of being ignorant just because they disagree with your opinion'' --Me

If you want to know about music go to; Rate your music and read my reviews, my username is; trancendentalmedication.

P.S. I hate 90% of hip hop, some exceptions are; Disposabe Heroes of Hiphopcrisy, Public Enemy, Common, Wu Tang, TCQ - the rest is mainly garbage.

  • @milesdavisblackmx5

try Blueprint, Heiroglyphics or Illogic. some of the best artists alive, imho

  • @milesdavisblackmx5 Wu-tang? So you advocate NWO?

  • @takeadump6 No, I advocate Wu World Order. I don't believe in conspiracy theorists, but parts of it are relevant. I feel there is an elite out there trying to gather all the world's wealth, usually in the guise of big business/corporate volte face, but they are not trying to take over the world, as it would take more than a lifetime's work to achieve. We also live in Police States the Police are the elites 'personal' army - to maintain the status quo, so they can keep stripping out the wealth.

  • @milesdavisblackmx5 Yeh neither do I, but I feel that there is just something not right about this world. Socio-economic gaps grow larger by the day yet nothing is done about it, the black man is the only threat to white racial purity and they seem to be the ones that cop heat every day whether in Africa, France or US.

  • @takeadump6 It's not just black people being persecuted, 99% of people are. Corporate advertising brainwash people into thinking they need the latest gadgets (Apple). Fuel companies are holding people to ransom because we need their product. People are sick of the inequality of wealth. The rich get richer with interest on their money/investments, so exponentially the gap is widening at a frightening rate every second, meanwhile millions have no food to eat. The world is worng.

  • @takeadump6 attention white nationalists: follow your leader. Literally put a luger in your mouth and pull the trigger as the red army storms your berlin bunker.

  • @Dwaggysnaxx interesting point you make.. now go share your needles in someone elses crack den

  • @eyeflow9 Herbie Hancock didn't rap or eMCee and Gil Scot Heron was not hip hop, but beat poetry and proto-politcal rap. George Clinton was p-funk, not jazz fusion in anyway. I don't count turntable and emCee 'skills' to be on a level with sax, bass or trumpet playing, even though they are the modern day technological equivalents for young black people. You're from Australia, try going to Brixton and see how many white DJs there are. I can DJ, but I can't play saxophone...get me?

  • @eyeflow9 If you weren't so braindead you'd see beyond black/white. The reason hip/hop is played at jazz venues is because they are in parts of town that attract certain 'clientelle' - both being the lexicon of the black community. Crossovers are rare. A Tribe Called Quest , Courtney Pine, Brandon Marsalis, Dr Octagon are protagonists from the 1980s on. Jazz rap is still specialist subculture - the only unique correlation is that they are improvised derivatives of mainly black people.

  • @milesdavisblackmx5 the majority of hip hop these days are white, asian, european and hispanic kids. attributing music culture ownership to the 'black community', whilst valid in asserting both genre's origins, is quite out of touch. The point i was getting at in the first place was more of the 'mechanical function' of doing hip hop, i.e freestyle emceeing, beatboxing etc being akin in its function to jazz improv. that's the usual correlation drawn in musicological discourse on the subject.

  • @milesdavisblackmx5 Tribe, Pine, Marsalis & Octagon are fairly weak examples of what you seem to continually focus on, which is crossover music... i mean you could have at least mentioned herbie hancock, gil scot heron, parliament/funkadelic, (getting more into the funk side of things but you know what i mean) and the list goes on...jazz rap is not the issue, the function of both genres & (non-racial) cultural closeness is more of what is discussed out there & drawn as a link.

  • @milesdavisblackmx5 and finally: “Hip-hop is like one of the children of jazz music” —Nas

  • name of the second track please?!

  • @gnuj123 Nightwriters - let the music use you

  • @gnuj123 its track 4 by LFO

  • so aphex twin does now music like any other bullshit trance DJ? Aphex Twin got a butthead. just don´t forget that! i shit on afx!

  • History lesson nuff said

  • Jeanette Thomas - Shake Your Body (House Shaker Version) is the first track.

SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE BOD BOD BOD BOD BODY BODY BODY BODY SH SH SH SH SHAKE BOD BOD BOD BODY BODY BODY

  • anybody can tell me what's the first song?

  • Jesus, whats with all the hate on the comments?

  • so davie wins, right!?

    hahahahah

  • Dang thats one cool set,

    Especially when he plays LFO

    Tracklisting anyone>

  • god!

  • Jeanette tomas move your body !!!

  • two people wasting time in the comment section.

  • first track I.D? please!

  • damn theres some angry people on here

  • wow that flame war shit is sad

  • All of your comments are pointless

    Ha!

  • song that starts at around 1:40 is LFO- "Track 4"

  • DJs are the most overrated human beings on earth. Just a handful are worth their actual status - the rest are premadonna pricks playing shite chart CDs, doing laughable MCing and acting up to ignorant impressionable little girl groupies.

  • very true

  • I never said Richard James was the type of DJ I was describing, did I? I don't class AFX as a DJ, more an electronica artist. So, congratulations on not getting your facts right. DJs diverse? I worked as a music researcher for Performing Right Society and I met 100s of DJ in an 8 year period. So, I think I'm in a better position to judge than you.

  • I wouldn't waste your energy you loser. I would feel sorry for yourself - if I were you.

MC stands for Master of Ceremonies i,e introducing the music and talking to the audience which is what DJs do you braindead little twat.

  • Ignorant prick, i was talking about DJs in general. Yes, you're right, I know nothing about electronic music - I've only been writing about it for 15 years - you braindead fuckwit spaceman, er sorry 'astronaut.'

  • Listen kid, I was going to the best clubs when you was still in nappies. I've met lots of DJs and they're all illiterate, ill-educated losers like you, with inflated egos. I have my own business actually and I am not some jumped up little shit who thinks he's cool because he has an alluminium flight case of cheesy mainstream vinyl remix shite. DJs are jumped up nobodys, making money off other people's creativitiy. You being a prime example, you little twat.

  • As I suspected, you're clearly not very intelligent are you? When did I say I wrote about DJs? I said ELECTRONIC music which is not the same thing. You use, sad, laughable pathetic words, such as 'muppet' and 'chillout' which have never been cool, not even in the early 90s when first banded about. I hardly think 34 is old and I'm not a business man, I'm a journalist with a graphic design business. I'm bored of you now, little nobody - go away and pretend to look important by twibbling your knobs

  • @milesdavisblackmx5 yeah you've clearly lost your marbles good luck for the future and your future issues hahahahaha old goat!!!

  • It's 'funny' how you seem to be the only one laughing at your own 'jokes'? Is that the best you can do - call a 34 year-old an 'old goat' - you little loser KID. You really are a fascinating character arent you? - You take dullness and un-originality to whole new levels. Havent you got some shitty Derrick May Detroit 'old skool' techno remix to play to a 16 year-old impressionable little girly - who thinks you're WAY cool because you didn't put on a Miley Cyrus CD. Haha - now that's funny KID.

  • @milesdavisblackmx5 do you not rate derrick may?? thought you would of known him personally since youve interviewed so many djs and of course your such an interesting character who writes up his life story on youtube hahahahahahahaha

  • Yes - keep laughing at your own shit - small things amuse small minds. When did I say I have INTERVIEWED lots of DJs - MET yes? All you are doing is proving what I already knew, that you are an illiterate. ill-educated gimp. I quote you as proof - 'I thought you would OF known him' should be 'I thought you would HAVE known him.' That's proof, you are a retard. Go back to school little boy, the only funny joke around here is YOU. Haha (hopefully by typing haha it will make my comment seem funny.)

  • @milesdavisblackmx5 that is just great chat, picking up on grammar mistakes and now i am a retard not original at all. Away to the priory mate maybe they will listen to your life story and inflated ego hahahahahahaha

  • A woman died of cancer today -hahahahahahahahahaha. Arent I funny?

Clearly, I NO nothing (according to you) about electronic music - however, I would argue I KNOW a lot. There's lies the disparity - I have a brain and you quite obviously do not. Life story, what life story? I hardly think a few paragraphs on a You Tube profile is an autobiography - however, it would be enough to cover your dull, uneventful loser life with ease. Hahahahahahahahahaha (is that enough hahas to make me seem funny?)

  • @milesdavisblackmx5 well a few paragraphs certainly sum up your life on youtube, your obviously quite insecure and lonely. Grammar mistake 'There's lies the disparity' top 10 uni boy wank! wank! hahahahahahahahahaha

  • Typing error, not grammar error nobhead -big difference.

Oh 'KNOW' - you have found me out, this is all a sham, I'm VERY insecure and lonely. What with my two sports cars, my two houses and one flat, my 14 year journalism career with 1000s of published newspaper and magazine articles - my successful graphic design business, which turned over almost £750k last year, oh and not forgetting my 'designer' girlfriend and famous friends - yes, I'm desperately lonely and insecure - please, help me!

  • If we removed the hahahaha parts of your messages, then your comments would add up to a blankness of nothingness - a lot like it's 'author,' I suppose.

I can almost hear your snidy laugh now, the type of sniggering you hear when a loser is deeply jealous of a successful person, yet still trying desperately to bring them down to their own lowlife level. It really is quite pathetic.

  • @daviebinman Your responses are as lame as ever - go away and PLEASE don't come back. Fucking bored stiff of you.

  • Davie got the last word, i guess he wins.

  • I guess he wins what?...Nope he's just another loser like you.

  • Ooh ouch man, that stings.

  • @milesdavisblackmx5 clearly a person who had truly accomplished all the stuff you listed in your pathetic tyrade of attempted internet policing and music culture fascism, would be too busy to bother with such utterly insignificant drivel. generalising about djs is pretty ignorant... look at some of the better battle djs out there (known as turntablists, but you should know that as a "music journalist"...right?) if you want to see what sort of skill can be exercised on record playing equipment.

  • @eyeflow9 Speak for yourself little loser boy. Your jealousy and insecurity precede you. It's 'tirade' by the way not 'tyrade' numbfuck.

  • @milesdavisblackmx5 That's right... Ignore the message... Pick a spelling error....Display your egotism yet again.

Jealousy is not the issue here i can assure you and there is no way you would have the testicular fortitude to say "little loser boy" to my face in real life. I would bet good money on that. To be honest, after reading your comments on this thread, I would seriously hate to be you - quite pathetic really. Was my grammatical skill sufficient for you this time? All the commas there?

  • @milesdavisblackmx5 Also, relating to insecurity, I think a good honest review of all the statements you made in this thread - trying to inform somebody you discounted as an imbecile - was fairly insecure in its essence. If you really, truly look at yourself, you can't deny that it's the truth, right? Surely, insecurity would be illustrated in far more depth/detail by somebody who lists their achievements on internet threads to impress those they consider unworthy of the info in the first place.

  • @milesdavisblackmx5 Again, I will reinforce my initial message to you. A skilled musicologist, music journalist, writer, (or whatever your are) would be fully aware of the stupidity of generalising about DJ culture. Surely with your interest in music journalism, you would be across the fact that much of the underground hip hop scene is considered an extension of the jazz scene by many jazz musicians and respected musicologists. Blatantly generalising displays your ignorance to anyone who knows.

  • @eyeflow9 What makes you think I care enough about your one-dimensional opinion to comment in any depth? Hip hop is NOT an extension of the jazz scene you moron. Jazz is a seperate scene and any fusion of the two musically is rare. It is clearly YOU who has issues having to write 3 long posts to get over your laughable viewpoint on 'musicology.' I'm not interested. You need to be self-confident and have ample self-respect to achieve what I have. Clearly you're a loser with jealousy issues.

  • @milesdavisblackmx5 perhaps you might like to read ericka blount's article on jazztimes website entitled, where jazz meets hip hop.... start there, then move onto looking at the playbills of many many jazz venues around the world...you will find many hip hop events.

Regarding your 'self confidence' and 'ample self respect' i'd suggest you may have a warped view of where the line is between those things and pure arrogance...Also, stooping to calling people names like a five year old - classy!

  • I couldn't resist posting this; The life story of daviemcp - available at all bad children's book stores for 10p

Davie went to school and was proved to be a degenerate, no-hoper.

Davie left school with no qualifications and so buys some Technics decks thinking he was super 'cool'.

Davie pretends to be an uber god-like DJ by twiddling his knob for ..er a week.

Davie realised he was a deluded fuckwit and so got a job as a bin man.

    Davie dies.

Hahahahahaha (I 'NO' I'm so fucking funny.)

  • @milesdavisblackmx5 davie binman hahahahahahahahaha

  • fucking aphex twin please come to coachella 2010!!! i already put my ticket on lay away!!!

i am aware that he wont read thsi but heh

  • wat song is this?

  • microphones

  • thanx buzz...just died laughing!

  • dont worry alfa is just acing like a tosser because he probly sucks on tables or cant actually afford any so he goes on here to act like a hardass.

  • haha - ..you thought i was being serious? donkey

you've put that question on every aphex coachella vid...what are you expecting? a list of hardware? a set list? yeah, he uses magic beans v1.0, and talent.

    now fuck off.

  • Just ignore the tards.

  • i agree whit u mate :) all he's tracks are made by himself and for those who want tracklist like tiesto set or sm like that go back from this page :) this man is serious no one can match him :)

  • ha ha ..speech!!!! he just uses a laptop

  • can someone tell me what he uses to perform live, please?

  • google it

  • hey i was there for all the shakes i had a blow horn. that weekend or what ever was the best didnt get hung over and got really drunk every night, cause i drank water. got to stay in the nice house with a girl to guy ratio of 4:2 .and got in for free every day.

  • Lucky little turd! haha j/k

  • yea right people at this segment I wouldnt be able to hold back I would be burning down that dance floor, this shit is INSANE!!!

  • I like the fact he's playing early bleep/acid house. That's where his routes came from, correct?

  • roots, routes... they must have the same etymological routes

  • yupp, cause in his first aphex twin album, saw 1, it has a similar style to these songs. xtal and puslewidth have the same hihats as the first song, i notice...

  • ooops, yr right, it is spelled roots. don't know what i was thinking.

  • wat song is the first one? or is it just composing?

  • kind of like xtal, it has the same hi hats as the first track in this vid. also, most of the songs off his s.a.w. album sound like this kind of music

  • shake your body by jeanette thomas

  • what is the name of the song after Jeanette Thomas Shake your body?

  • unique 3 - the theme

  • best gig i ever saw was aphex and vibert play together live in sydney. lost my fooooking mind

  • grrr im so jealous.

  • gee, if this set had a tongue, it would go around licking windows, bonkers!!

  • Damn that's a re-work of Tricky Disco im hearing in between 2 and 3 mins. What a DJ.

  • Rawr ima dinosaur

  • Damn, this guy seems to be unrivaled when it comes to electronic music. He can do it all with relative ease.

  • yea its APHEX TWIN!!!!!!!!!

  • ..."handbag" house??? are you kidding me? I think it's an edit of Promised Land by Smooth Joe? Dude it is ALL ABOUT House from late 80's Chicago and the similar but slightly weirder Techno from Detroit same time period. Larry Heard is a huge influence on Richard as clearly evidenced by Analord 2. "Laricheard" anyone???

  • it gets so good at 3:00 till the end.

this was prabably my favorite set that weekend. the lights were pretty nuts on the roof

  • Yesssss!

  • wow great vid quality

  • afx back to the roots !!! so good :D

  • probe 4 by lfo at 1:38 - nice one afx! :)

  • why is the mighty aphex twin dabbling in handbag house? I'm disgusted

  • money is money, but I'm disgusted also.

  • it's a matter of taste, but that's not handbag house - it's just house. aphex is obviously more open minded than you sir!

listen to ambient works 85-92 to hear the influence.

  • Well the trick is not the genre, but the 'sound'.

I can very much imagine Aphex playing the house track in this video and chewing it to pieces.

In fact its very acid sounding. As a dj myself i like to be very eclectic. I don't go by genre at all, but i keep it rocking.

I think its a testament to his evolved appreciation for the factors that make good music.

People tend to segregate music as some kind of political thing, but his influences come everywhere.

  • Comment removed

  • sounds like --my life with a kill thrill cult--- im not sure if its RDJ stuff or MLKTC

  • Nice visuals

  • drukqs.

  • sure ya did..

  • you also attempted to be funny and failed miserably.

  • ha i downloaded this mic slapped it on my ipod got stoned and then just started walkin round eastbourne hospital good times

  • LEGEND! Absolutely amazing live experience.

  • does anyone kniw who the artists of these tracks that he is playing are? would be really grateful if you could help me. Thanx

  • first song is shake your body by jeanette thomas

  • its fucking aphex twin, he can do whatever the fuck he wants, and if that means showing half his face playing early 90's house then he can do it. This man has done as much for dance music as pete tong and paul oakenfold. Do you people not remember the last 30 minutes.

  • Oakenfold totally blew it when he played Coachella, very disapointed

  • Oakenfold is a sell out anyway. He's wiped his hands cleaned of the dance scene and sold out to american life style and big money contracts.

  • Oakenfold = cheese, whatered down music (shit)

  • For sure, btw its watered down, not being an asshole i'm just saying

  • Oakenfold may be a good DJ but the tracks he plays and produces r really shit

  • Richard D. James is the man. All hail the Anal Lord.

  • its so like aphex twin to open with something that isnt aphex twin in the slightest.

    LOVE IT

  • Oxegen set was the best he played in a long time, droppin tracks off Drukqs and Tuss Lp,thats exactly what i wanted to hear.

  • the tune at 2,12 is by unique 3 called the theme.

  • look at all those filming people...

  • When the eff is Richard D. James going to release a new Aphex Twin album? GEEZ...

  • He's always in a kind of semi-retirement. Don't hold your breath.

  • GEEZ are you dumb or what?? he just released 10 analord singles a tuss single and LP wtf more do you want???? i cant be bothered to add up the tracks, if you are going to criticise why don't you show us what u got? i doubt if u could produce a 1 sided single that would not be instantly forgotten about... PRICK!!!

  • your a dumbass, aphex twin releases under music under many different names, the tuss being one of them. anything coming under rephlex records is usually aphex-associated. so why dont you shut the fuck up because you absolutely have no idea what your talking about. 26 mixes for cash came out in 2003 and analord 10 in 2005. maybe do your research on yo shit before you start bagging other people for theirs, fucking retard. your arrogance astounds everyone

  • new album due in march

  • you're kidding?

  • r u sure? how u know?

  • yea, its gettin towards the end of march. No date set yet

  • wait 2010?

  • I dont think many people here get it, but coachellea is a crap gig. a bunch of rich american teens just whats on the hip. well richard gave them that HAHA! The usuall coachellea goer wouldnt really warm up to aphex twin. Richard says himself that he doesnt like to DJ, he is giving the crowd what it deserves, old played out tunes, they cant tell the diffrence.

  • I was there. filmed this vid. as with many other vids from Coachellas 06, 07, 08...

I look forward to Coachella every year...and it is by no means a crap gig.

    i loathe music snobs.

  • He is correct, however, that this is a pretty ho-hum set.

  • he was unbelieveable at oxegen in ireland in july an they had face contortionists on stage, show had a drum & bass feel to it, it was alot better than this appears to be

  • I completely love Aphex Twin but I think this performance sucked ass.

  • He needs to get people to do some kind of shit on stage lol. dont get me wrong i love aphex twin but the stage performance is kinda boring or this music wasnt meant for concert. i probably would only go see them once. and start dancing. lol. but i love aphex twin regaurdless!

  • sorry but when i read i have to choose between afx or Interpol an dyou dont choose richard i am so soryy for you guy cuz i think you are shitty listener or maybe your ears dont hear anymore if you dont choose this God of sounds ..............just no more words for you a guy with dead ears ....

  • playing old school house - whats wrong with that? afx has been there since day zero and seen it all... he really did play so much better in manchester though lol! just glad i was at the latter instead of this... check out afx live at the warehouse project and you'll see what i mean

  • crap music..

  • going to a festival in a couple of days and i have to choose between seeing him and seeing unkle, the choice is too hard

  • I'm goimg too and can't decide between aphex or Interpol. I saw aphex in 93, think he'll win out on friday too.

  • Id say unkle! Saw them last september at Electric Picnic and they were unreal..really powerfull, had full band on stage and they were going nuts. Aphex Twin is a genius but can be hit and miss live

  • yeah i watched a couple of videos of both of them live and im goin with unkle, thanks for the help

  • Richie D playing music with a 4/4 beat.

    Not Impressed!

  • I'm sure even he gets bored of IDM every once in a while.

  • listen to the rest of the set. at about 25 mins it goes mental

  • It was cool being there, but the whole Acid House got me off guard..

  • Man compared to his other stuff this looks like it was a shitty performance. Also I completely agree with d3p3ch3mod3 about his choice of music to play.

  • el maestro richard.

  • how come all these awesome artists come do live shows and then just do this dj crap? dont get me wrong i wish i couldve been there but play some girlboy song right?

  • they play this "dj crap" to get people dancing and this set is so fire that you can't help but move. sorry if you're too intelligent to dance.

  • that's really funny that the guy who basicly started the genre called "intelligent dance music" ditched the jazz rhythms for 4/4 beats and now apparently if you want to dance to a more mental rhythm you're the one who can't dance.... he had to pander to the american audience who only know how to dance to 4/4 judging by the comments ive seen on the other videos

  • I've read that he loathes the moniker of IDM

  • ive heard that too

  • He says he hates it because it insinuates that other "dance" music is "not intelligent"

  • Girl/Boy Song is in 4/4. P.S. The UK is responsible for producing just as much shitty house/trance/techo as anyone. P.P.S. This set did blow, though.

  • Seriously. I used to think that American television was awful, then I started watching BBC. Starting to realize why so much of American culture gets exported. God bless the queen
