  • BUBZZBEAUTY !

  • I am not a big fan of acrylics I had many a good brush ruined by them...retarders don't slow the drying time enough. If they dried about the time alkyd oils did it would be perfect(maybe just a few hours faster)

  • just starting to watch your series... I think you meant to say "transparent" @ 1:45 Small detail, but kinda messes with a beginners head! lol J/K looking forward to picking up some tricks along the way...Thanks

  • 1:44 AWWW Kitty Cat xD

  • dude your studio sux you work with those dirty brushes? and palette is worst not to mention bad lighting.

  • @gardenofarcane umm...it's called painting...have you seen the majority of painters? all of their palettes have layers upon layers of dried paint on them. why would you even bother cleaning your brushes? waste of time that could be spent painting instead if you ask me

  • @low72 If you dont clean your brushes they stop working properly you cannot make long strokes. And dirty brushes give you dirty and muddy paintings. Palettes should be wiped clean too, cause you wont know what shitty tone of brown you are mixing lol!

  • @gardenofarcane Yes I know that. The brushes may be dirty, but not the bristles. Besides, who are you to say, every painter does what they are comfortable with, and what does this guy's painting look like when he's done with them? MINT and realistic. Also, painting with natural light is better than lights, notice how he's sitting right by that window? I don't see any videos on your channel showing brush & palette care. Alright I love ya buddy but ya blew it, capiche?

  • Why water?

  • wow thank you so much! Ive been having this problem for years and I just now thought maybe youtube would have a solution. My cat went crazy when she saw the other cat in the background lol

  • these tips are really helpful!

  • thnks for good tips you gave, except , don't you think that brush will get damaged if you leave them in water ??

  • stupid

  • shit

  • He didn't mention using retarding gel, which, when mixed with acrylic paint, slows down the drying time, though it also increases the transparency. Strictly, acrylic is best used with man-made bristles, which are a form of plastic and don't absorb water into the strands, so soaking them would be a waste of time and probably ruin them.

  • what about using gesso?

  • cute kitty

  • balls

  • Someone's Canadian.. >_>

  • Tim, we miss you!!!! Where are you ????

  • Great simple and important tips, Tim. TY!

    Pacchie

  • what about airbrush

  • Wow thanks man. I'm always so mad when my paint brush gets dry with the paint on it.

  • great tips!!! i have much frustration over quick drying paint.

  • Is that a plastic palette?

  • thanks!

  • Great tips for the first timer, thanks.

  • Thanks for the tips. For a palette I use a plastic disposable plate, put a wet paper towel on it and cover the towel with baking paper. This locks the moisture in and keeps the paints wet for quite a while.

  • isin't it a bad idea to leave your brushes submerged in water? O_O

  • Thanks for the tip! Didn't see the kitty till I read the comment by drawingandpreaching. Don't know how I missed a whole cat!

  • Your cat is soooo cute! ..... Coukld you try to paint him ?

  • Good tips

  • oh my gawdd, ur so hawwttt.

  • Other good idea to stop you acrylic from dry out is to wet a hand paper towel and place you acrylic on the wet damp paper towel so your acrylic will not dry out.

  • NOOOOOOO.........!!!!!!! leaving paint brushes in water overnight will spoil your expensive brushes!!!

  • awesome cat

  • WHOA! I had never heard of tips 1 and especially 2. A freakin water misting bottle, to spray water on the canvas. Sweet :)

  • Can u plz help me i just started painting for the first time in my life and i never used acrylic before when i was trying to do the same like u my papers get too wet and loose its texture can u plz advise me?? I love ur work, thank you so much, after watching ur videos I started to try to paint 

  • I've been told you should never leave your brushes in water for too long...the glue binding in the handles will start to dissolve and your brush will fall apart.

  • i never think i could do this, i will use them on my next canvas

  • Thank you very much, this is a big problem when I use acrylic paint. I'll try it and I hope it'' work with my pictures, thank you very much for this very helpful advice, I love your videos and pictures <3

  • i don't like leaving my brushes in water cos im paranoid of them rusting :(

  • haha kitty (:

  • WTF is with that cat??

  • 1:44 has a cute cat rolling around in the background! By the way, great artwork!

  • @drawingandpreaching I love it when the animals want to be in the video too. :-)

  • love your work thanks for helping beginners

  • wont paper towels leave behind a fuzz?

  • Use bounty. :)

  • @juufa72 Hello yes paper towels does leave behind a fuzz but that can happen if you wet the the paper towels real well.

  • I like the cat behind the palette :-D

  • Thank you for GREAT vidoes, I am a beginner painter and am going to follow your instructions. LOVE your work!

  • Thank you for all your helping tips!

Do you think you caould make a video on how to paint the trees?

  • What about using a retardant?

  • You can use a retardant too. I guess it depends on how fast you want the paint to dry. You can also use Golden Open Acrylics, which dry much slower than normal Acrylics.

  • @gagnonstudio how do you use a retardant?

  • @International72521 Your retardant

  • Very good Tim, but what make of paints do you prefer?

  • I use Golden Acrylics.

  • @gagnonstudio Since a year has gone by now, do you still use golden acrylics? or do you use the interactive thats on your supply list? which is better for a long blending time?

  • I usually just do step #3. Thanks for the video.

  • Yeah, sometimes you only need one of the steps. Thanks for commenting!

  • nice tips. i love gagsonstudio

  • Hi Tim.... Great Tips! Those are the things I do to keep my acrylics wetter longer.... never thought to pass the idea along like this.... GREAT VIDEO! FIVE STARS!

  • Another set of good tips, I'd be a bit worried leaving my brushes overnight in water, incase it weakened them. I use pretty cheap brushes because I can't afford much better, but maybe soaking them for half an hour would do the job? Thanks for the great tips! Good stuff for the beginner like me

  • You can probably just soak them for 30 - 60 minutes and that would work. I have quite a few cheap brushes too, and they don't seem to get damaged by soaking them overnight, but it might be safer to just soak them for an hour, and try it from there. Thanks for your comment!
