I was present in the audience in Los Angeles on this day, this was the "Kill Uncle" tour the Forum was "Sold Out" and there was lots of excitement in the air this night we were all waiting for this Concert and to our suprise"Bowie" walks the stage with Morrissey singing this duet and the crowd went nuts from the front to the high terrace shouting and praising with pure delight. I had several friends who wanted to go and I chose John Joe M.this night i introduced his to the magic of Morrissey...
Actually this moment is so "awesome" that Morrissey quit the tour where he opened for Bowie. He was supposed to leave the stage after singing a song with Bowie and couldn't stand not being able to say goodbye to his audience. This clip sounds more like Bowie cannibalizing Morrissey.
@mantra3000 Morrissey is so much more talanted than Bowie.Bowie was kind of original in 1970,but today he's nobody-he should just piss off, for good!!
@mantra3000 I heard Moz tell that story on some show and he said that it was "very cagey" of Bowie to do that so Moz left the tour.Any way I am from the states and have never heard that term "cagey" but I love that it sounds so funny to me.
D.B. was so afraid Morrissey would steal the show - which he would - that he purposely had Morrissey exit the stage (slowly fading away) in mid-song so as to avoid Morrissey's fans from going crazy....while Bowie's fans just keep pretending he's brilliant ... when that ship sailed years before this tour.
@leonakita yea because bowie suggested that morrissey slowly fade into the background while they were playing this song and then bowie would take over and do his set, and when morrissey said he didn't think that was a good idea bowie never talked to him again
@ollieeSkate lol@ Morrissey unwilling to do that simple thing as a transition between sets!..Proves what an insecure tramp fag he is !.. Then goes on to bitch about BOWIE for decades, how you 'have to worship at the altar of the rock god BOWIE'....GOOD!.. ,even if he jests, he's learning he isnt in the same class as Mr Bowie...never will be!..Now just an old forgotten fat bad toothed fucker in his 50s, that defines 'has-been'!...Couldnt have happened to a nicer fag = Morrissey!
2: compare any of mozze's lyrics with bowies and you will see why he is not a "forgotten bad toothed fucker"
3: Morrissey is one of the most critically acclaimed artists ever, more so than Bowie, and say what you like about him as a person, he is a poet and his lyrics have helped a huge number of people and continue to today
@ollieeSkate there you go again, putting Mozz in the same category as Bowie..no chance ! Bowie is an innovator that has transcended generations and styles. Mozz is a ballad boy that only rocked with The Smiths & when pushed by the likes of the late rocker /producer Mick Ronson, for one album , Your Arsenal. I don't know how lyrics help people & I won't argue lyricism other than Bowies are often underated and overlooked because his musical prowess is so forward front. But Mozz ain't no Bowie!
@ollieeSkate I am pretty damn sure Bowie has more critical acclaim than Moz. Yeah, he's done some bad albums, but the man is probably the solo artist in rock with the most albums that are consistently regarded as genre classics. Not to say that necessarily makes him better, but he does have much more critical backing than Moz has.
@muat thai sorry that comment aws meant for @organaphus & @alek2702 who obiously read the same article in the same paper/site and didnt cross reference...
im surprised the universe didnt break the second bowie and morrissey stepped out on stage together. forget the large hadron collider - bowie + morrissey = super massive black hole
@SquareRo0o0t There I was, as a fan of both Bowie and Moz, wishing I could hear this unique/never to be repeated moment in musical history without all the screaming, but at least your comment has made me laugh. I'm still kinda pissed off about all the screaming though as the screamers couldn't have heard a thing and have spoilt it for the rest of us! Why oh why didn't they just shit their organs out instead? x
Imagine if nobody screamed. Imagine the atmosphere. Bowie walks out and it's silent and nobody makes any reaction. Wouldn't really be a concert would it?
It's part of the fun and part of the appreciation. damn.
omg - i was at this concert, too. and, i had a premonition. my most excellent promise. before the show started, when they were playing recorded music while the crowd was taking their seats, when they played the laughing gnome (q.v) i just had a hunch that bowie would come on stage for the encore. and he *did*. sometimes, we just *know.*
I was front row of this concert. I freaked out when I saw Bowie playing a tambourine. After the song was to be concluded Bowie looked at me and threw the tambourine he was playing. I caught it and everyone jumped on me trying to grab it. I still have it and it is signed by Morrissey and Bowie and says Los Angeles 1991. I wonder what its worth.....

From the sound of all the crazy screams, it's obvious a whole lot of people died because they couldn't handle the awesome of both Bowie and Morrissey at the same time.
@organaphus It has nothing to do w/ bowie's music but more so about that tour where morrissey opened for bowie. At the very last song, Morrissey had to sing bowie's song and slowly fades away as bowie's set's opening. According to Moz, he ain't down w/ that. Anyone w/ the right mind, ain't either. That's BS for bowie to request such demand.
@muaythai 1. It's not a Bowie song. It,s Marc Bolan, both Mozza and Bowie are huge fans 2. It was Morz's idea, what he didn't like was the disrespectful fucking screaming. 3. I know i sound like THAT guy. being wrong is fine but now when it comes to those whose sir names are their identity. well.. 4. It was a tribute to marc,g rew up iand died in hammersmith, 5. Bowie is a gentleman as is Moz (who if he liked anyone more than marc bot less than the n.y.dolls it was Bowie. Be Told.
@kahnmoon dude, you're smoking.... whatever it is, stop it! Playing a nice guy doesn't change the fact. I don't think you even know Morrissey well appearently. Please do some research or else don't waste my time or going around passing flowers of ignorant.
did bowie preform again this year? great man . How i miss him bringing out an album i still dont care any more about modern music after he had his illness .Super to hear his voices has still that wonderfull tone . Altough this is more crowd then hearing david bowie I miss his records a lot
