I have Japanese Telecaster too, but I have 2003 52ri. I recommend to anyone because it is very quality made guitar. In my oponion Teles bridge pickup has the best surf tone.

Japanese Fenders ain't bad, but I'm a Mexicano guitar fan. Got a Tele custom with humbuckers (Keith Richards plays a similar axe) but with enough treble and working with a playing style, can get some gnarly surf one minute and then soul-shaking Swamp tone the next.

telecasters are really cool. i just never got around to buying one. i did the gibson thing for a long time, the les paul custom, ad artist, sg standard. but these days i di a 89' fender squier II, two killer american stratocasters, two cheaper squier stratocasters, a j-bass and a 82' or so fender bullet with a dimarzio humbucker in the bridge position. fender guitars kick frickin ass !!

You have the potential to be very good so please, pack the info into fewer words and broaden the demo, pref. with less reverb and more traditional Tele songs and sounds so we can compare. That little lick you played while changing pups told me almost nothing. I played B/F BMs in the 60's and you never really showed us what the amp will do.
