  • the fcc hahaha the fcc. i love it

  • How did you program the scanner did you used a software using the pc and I have a bct15x u thing I will work on the p25 frequencies

  • @RICKK98

I put them in by hand - it's not that hard to do ... I used Freescan just to see more data and maybe log some activity.

  • @RICKK98 Rick, you asked about the Bct15x and p25. No, the Bct15x, while a really nice analog scanner, won't do p25 digital. For that, you'd need the 996 or 996xt.

  • How old is the model BCD996XT? is this a 2009 or 2010 model? also how much did you get it for?

  • @thewebmogul

Bought the radio this year, about April '10 time frame. I did a little searching on the internet for best price - and then actually bought two of them ...

  • @uploadJ Ok that's great how much did you purchase it for and where did you purchase it at? also you have any problems using the scanner?

  • @thewebmogul -

Looking at my records is looks like I bought these from scanner master DOT com back in April.

The programming on these radios is a little complicated, but I am impressed with the sensitivity and also the low LO (Local Oscillator) phase noise (usually that is a tough one in consumer grade gear to 'get right').

What have you seen these going for? I think I paid what they are presently asking on the scanner mater website ... right around 495 US dollars ...

  • Very cool! Thanks for the vid

  • The guy with the accent along with the vocode effect of P25 makes it hard to understand what he's saying. Otherwise when the signal is clear it sounds fine. Who was doing the test here?

  • @FamousTVvoice -

The city of Frisco in conjunction with EADS ... where EADS has a presence at

6801 Gaylord Parkway in Frisco Texas.

    More info Google:

    EADS North America radios

BTW, it looks like Frisco decided to go with Motorola Project25 radios, and EADS NA may be moving to Richardson where they have made an offer to that city of a 'free' radio system ... the last company to do that was Ericsson who 'gifted' them a GE EDACS system back in the 1990s ...
