  • I invite you on my page to watch two clips of Dennis McGee from André Gladu's "Le Reel du Pendu" (1972 doc.) One shows him playing with Sady Courville and the other is a recording session in Bois-Sec Ardoin's living room!

  • WOW! what a legend!

This was suggested by Dennis's 7th son Gerry McGee to me.

  • the last time i heard real in this way was dent wimmer w/you never miss your momma 'till she's gone...i'm an outsider but i'm somewhere inside the looking here

  • don't forget to thank her for the good dance..thank you Sir

  • so nice ...me an outsider i know...but entirelely respectful and thankful to the Balfa Freres..and this gentleman in his versions and explanations (I couldn't know the language) but I can nearly sure know about the feel...this is entirely beautiful

  • MY DAD { DENNIS MCGEE }.. HIS GRANDMA ,,I BELIEVE WAS "NATIVE AMERICAN "..BUT NOT SURE WHAT TRIBE .!! GERRY MCGEE

  • my dad again !! he had lot of energy then !

  • I was just lookin up some stuff and i typed in my last name and this came up. My last name is Deshotels!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sadie is my great grandfather i think, I'm pretty sure my dad (who's a Chapman) is his grandson...

    tis a small world :)

  • it is too bad his family did not continue in his footsteps!such culture and history lost!

  • @francaisemichif Dennis' son Gerry McGee is also an accordion player, although he is best known for his guitar playing.

  • @guitarmaniax thats good, but who can play the fiddle and sing the songs like dennis?he is a true artist!

  • traditional cajun music is tops , this style has so much in common with donegal traditional fiddling style, double stops , sparse ornamentation and tons of attack, ecoutaz a jonny doherty et laissez les bontemps roulez!

  • I knew Mr. Dennis, such a comical and great Man !

I could listen to his stories for hours

such a loss for our Kajun Heritage.

    RIP Misuer Dennis

  • Dennis McGee Was my Grandfather :-) I'm the son of Gerry McGee. I did not know this video was around....thanks for posting it!

  • Your Gerry Mcgee's son? wow! My grandmother who passed away a year ago is your aunt! Edolia McGee Dupre! Your dad knows who she is.

  • I dont think I ever met her..perhaps when we had one of the family reunions years ago...

  • Do you know anything about Dennis Mcgees Native American Ancestry? If so please let me know.

    Thanks

  • I think I'm somehow related to yall too. Somewhere down the line. I love this video.

  • very very moving ... do you know when this was filmed?

  • This was filmed in the alte 1970's. The entire film is a joy to behold.

  • Dennis is a trip great old time fiddle player though

  • Is he speaking French?

  • Yes, he's speaking our beautiful Cajun French language.

  • Even though I'm not related, not even remotely, I'll pipe up and say that I love the history this represents. Thanks for posting.

  • Wow! funny how you can find relative you never knew you had here on the internet. Dennis McGee was my great great grandfather too!

  • He is my Great Grandfather....I never new him.

  • Same here, a great grandfather I never met. Considering how many kids he had there are probably a lot of us.

  • Who are you?

  • He is my great grandfather! Who are you?!

  • I am Edolia Mcgee Dupre's grandson. She recently passed away. Dennis Mcgee was her dad.

  • Your grandmother was Tant Dol to me. My grandmother was Denus' first kid, Lydie. Small world. I wonder how many of us great grandkids there are.

  • It's sad i never got to hear him play...he and Sady died well before i was born. I'm a distant relative of Sady (great great nephew or 5th cousin or something to that effect).

  • Ah, what a guy. Oh, and Jeanie! Good for you to capture this legend.
