If you have all your Stats to 999 It takes 1 hit to defeat a Monster/Guard/Pizza Elmental (VGA Only) and I was playing around like that and 1 hit BAM! You win! I tryed it on the guards but Khaveen calls the guards! Everytime I jump down! But once I went down he didnt fight!

I guess chivalry is dead today. If you let the enemy get his weapon after disarming him nowadays, you would be called an idiot. Then again, you would be an idiot because today, that weapon would usually be a gun.

Also, if you want to keep yourself or others from being killed, the smart thing to do is to kill the enemy while you have a chance. Some enemies are too dangerous to be kept alive.

"ante" is latin for "before". Hence, "antechamber" means "room in front of the main chamber", which is what this is.

Latebit; "Luck is something thieves are supposed to have" Don't forget fools, they tend to have it too!! So fighters and wizards don't get to meet the harem girls, huh?? They don't know what they're missing...which is what that sly old dog, the thief gets to enjoy instead!!

The harem scene is something best suited to the thief anyway, since the fighter is probably too noble for such a deviation (at least if he's trying for the paladin path), and the wizard is probably too nerdy. (Unlike the Spellcasting adventures, in Quest For Glory, sorcerers don't get all the girls.)

Indeed! However, that game is not canon; QFG5 is to Quest For Glory as King's Quest 8 is to King's Quest.

I just discovered your videos last night while searching for Quest for Glory (in anticipation of AGD's remake of this very game). I've skipped around, but just want to say that I've been very entertained by them.

By the way, at the end of this video, I noticed something: your weapon skill that you wished up to 250, went down to 200 after beating Khaveen.

Thanks! Glad you liked the videos. :) And yes, the theoretical maximum skill level in this game is 200. You can get it above that by wishing for skill from the genie, but if you practice that skill too much, it might drop back down to 200.

The attribute "Luck" is like a jack of all trades card. Its something that relates to everything but honor (of course). Thieves have better use for it because many of the gameplay elements used by them is indirect (Example: sneaking around a house with people around, compared to a fighter just engaging in straightforward combat.) Luck controls each attribute, but not very well. A fighter with an uncommon high amount of luck might just land that special blow against a foe.

So I'm guessing if your luck was high, you would have had less trouble sneaking in Khaveen's house. Then again, your stealth was pretty low at the time.

"Ante-" means "before," in other words, "adjoining" in the context in which you used it. It's also no doubt where we get the noun and verb "ante" in poker, since anteing is done before a hand is played.

A simulacrum is just a representation of something, or something that looks like something else. It's got the same root as "simulation."

I guess like HerCrabbiness, I too have a language fetish. I'm fluent in Spanish, and as a result I have a good knowlege of Greek and Latin roots.

I enjoy that as well. My job affords me the chance to use my proficiency with Spanish on an almost daily basis. I work for a quality assurance company as an auditor, which basically means I listen to agents in call centers and grade their interactions with customers. The really cool thing is, Brazilian immigrants will also call in and ask to speak to a Spanish rep. Portuguese is the closest major language to Spanish and I like noticing the differences in structure and pronunciation.

Why is it manlier to slide down the rope when jumping off the ledge would prove your superior strength to the world? Hell, if I were Khaveen and some random guy suddenly jumped down from above without warning, that would certainly scare ME to death... XD

I don't think using the rope is manlier, but I was trying to save some health (since jumping right off would make me lose a bit of health). Khaveen doesn't scare easily; even if you just jump into the middle of the room, he reacts the same way, so I don't see a whole lot of point to NOT using the rope since it's there. Besides, I'm not very manly anyway. =)

Yeah, I think Crowley9 mentioned in a previous video that if you use the genie to raise your skill in something to over 200, it'll drop back down to 200 if you practice it too much.

The remake of this game looks excellent; too bad it's been in developmentn for something like 10 years. =)

Yeah, they wanted to cut their teeth and learn the ropes in a couple other projects before really digging into this one. Some people would be surprised how complex the coding is on even the original version, despite its age.

Have you tried their previous remakes? KQ1 VGA was pretty much a straight port from SCI to talkie VGA with Adventure game studio. However, KQ2+ is a nicely enhanced port with some added character depth too.

Yes, I've played both remakes and remember being *struck* by how much additional plot was in the second game; I'm sort of divided on that. Technically it isn't really even KQ2 anymore, as about half of the puzzles and events are completely original. It's a good adventure in its own right but it's not a "faithful remake" of KQ2.

QfG2 VGA is supposed to be much closer to the original in content since there is already so much to it. The only confirmed addition I know of is something the Coles wanted to put in the original, but it would have caused the game to run over on to another floppy disk (thus costing more to produce).
