i had our g.s for 8 years. she got cancer earlier this year. i didn't realize just how bad i would feel. we took her home from the vets and i buried her in our back yard. damn, i just broke down when i was digging the grave.

aww...this reminds me of my german shepard, Chella. We got her when I was about maybe seven. She was my best friend and nanny. She even let me curl up and sleep against her while she chewed on a raw hind bone. Old girl passed away when we were both 13. She lived a good life and I wil always love her.

It's always sad to lose a pet but always a joy to have one as part of the family.

i know its been a while but know exactly what you had to go thru, I had my GSD (Dingo) since i was 4, i was 18 when i had to put mine to sleep. He stopped wanting to eat in his last two weeks and I had to hand feed him everyday, we took him to the vet and they said he had stomach cancer. I chose to put him to sleep on the spot because he was only going to suffer more.

I had my German Shepherd since childhood and we recently had to put him down. This video brings back those memories where we would just sit around and have fun with one another. I keep a loaded 9mm Ruger by the bed...I told my wife if anyone tries to hurt either of us, one ruger or the other will get them.....I had one other dog that was half shepherd/half wolf and he was beautiful....His name was Duke....I lost him to some hateful neighbors who gave him antifreeze and killed him.....I know the pain of losing one too

German Shepherds can be good nature d if treated and raised properly.

And I think the females are far more protective than the males when it comes to a family unit. However, they are big dogs and I've always found them to be very hard to maintain in a home.

I am not a doctor or veterinarian, but I know that you could take a sample to a laboratory and do analysis to it, maybe it could lead you the right way. Even for our children, I prefer to pay to the laboratory first that go twice to a doctor that is guessing by the manual or what they have learn. Sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear. Should of had a MRI done she may have swallowed something. My GSD threw up yellow bile as well come to find out she ate half of a large bath towel we used to dry her off before she went into her kennel. Can back them up and clog intestines.

German Shepherds are beautiful dogs and smart. my parents had four of them. the first one i dont even remember i was too small. the second was shot in front of my eyes (i was about 6 years old).the next one we found, but she escaped. And the last one was more than a friend, she could understand what i feel, she was so friendly. but she was sick and all the moments she made me happy she felt just the opposite.

we had to put her asleep a year ago. i still cry some times about the loss.

Notice that Joshua is 10 months old, and pays more attention to the dog than to the cat. Clearly at this age he is too young to be conditioned by society or parents to prefer the dog over the cat. I think this illustrates that our love for dogs is innate.

I have watched all your videos of Shelby She is so beautiful and very like my GSD Storm. I was so sad reading your story because I lost my Storm on 5/02/09, I also had to get her put to sleep, I was with her to the end but the look on her beautiful face will haunt me forever!! It is an unbearable experience having to let them go. Storm was my best, most loyal loving friend, the day she left a part of me died. What you say is so true..there is no love or pain like it. I have watched all your videos of Shelby over and over for the past few days, ever since one of them was on "Recommended for you". I lost 2 Shepherds (brother and sister) from a degenerative spinal disease. I thought my Nicholas was the sweetheart of all time but Shelby is right there. Watching is bittersweet.
