I just listened to Jacky & Sandy's version and Jacky & Evonne Hsu's version. Both versions have the same key as this one. So I don't know what you mean by the key is lowered in this version.
i am a fan of jacky cheung. I thought leo ku sang very well. the duet was very well performed. definitely enjoyed it. it's like jacky cheung sang leo ku. he sang very well too! i think as long as the singer can sing it well, it's all good to me! 0=)
Given the industry, maybe its what he has to do to avoid un-necessary problems and rumours. Yet, I think Leo's voice is fine enough in this song version. Not trying to support him, but just offering a comment in another perspective.

Personally, I think because the key has changed for Leo's voice, so its better. Imagine if its Jacky's Cheung's key...Leo would not have handled it.
