I am sympathetic to Palestine. I am familiar with the travel issues and how difficult it is for Palestinians to make ends meet. Maybe is would be more fruitful to create better ties with Jordan and Egypt to help the flow of goods. Rather than guns? I am sympathetic to Palestine. I am familiar with the travel issues and how difficult it is for Palestinians to make ends meet. Maybe is would be more fruitful to create better ties with Jordan and Egypt to help the flow of goods. Rather than guns? Seems to me for the borders to be easier to travel Israel needs evidence that there security is assured.

The rockets of Hamas are weapons of war. A state of war exists between Gaza and southern Israel. That means that the civilians of both sides are caught in the crossfire. And Hamas can't have it both ways. Hamas wants to try and kill Israeli civilians and make life impossible for Israelis so Israelis will leave the south of Israel and then when Israel tries to stop Hamas, the defenders of Hamas cry foul. All Hamas has to do is leave southern Israel alone and Israel will leave Gaza alone.

Final results show that Hamas won the election, with 74 seats to the ruling-Fatah's 45. Former President Jimmy Carter led a team of 80 observers to ensure the election was free and fair. The Palestinians already have a democratically elected government.

No what was illegal was the shelling of northern Israel by the PLO. Lebanon was unable to stop the PLO from seizing southern Lebanon and so Israel was within its rights to enter Lebanon and eliminate the PLO presence. The collapse of Lebanon happened well before the Israeli invasion.

The Iraq War was authorized by the US Congress and to this day the Iraq War is paid for by the US Congress. That makes it both legal and constitutional without a declaration of war. I personally believe wars should not happen involving US troops without a declaration of war, but over time this requirement has been eroded.

electango, agreed. However consitutional law still takes precedent and it is very clear that a formal declaration of war must be made and passed before the US can go to war. The last formal declaration of war was World War 2 against a finite list of opponents. The USA inherited the British Empire after WWII and hence, Iraq was a colony of America in the eyes of America. Saddam wasn't OK with this. He moved Iraq out of the US orbit and into the Soviet orbit. Then the Soviets stopped supporting Saddam and Saddam was vulnerable. The US moved in for the kill and instead of surrendering to the US, the Iraqis decided to resist. Most of the Iraqi dead were killed by other Iraqis.

The best and only road to peace is through humility, dialogue and concession which leads to trust and ultimately peace. Gaza: at least 1,300 killed, of them at least 410 children and 104 women. Over 5,320 injured, of them over 350 severely injured (Palestinian Ministry of Health figures).
Israel: 3 civilians and 10 soldiers killed. Over 84 civilians injured, of them 4 severely injured, not including those treated for shock. 113 soldiers injured, of them one in critical condition and 20 suffering moderate or severe injuries.

Immediately upon taking power, Khomeini began undermining the rule of Saddam among the Shiite Iraqis. Saddam attacked Iran in response. Of course the US supported both sides as was their right to do so so that Iran and Iraq would each beat each other. But you cannot blame the US or Israel for Khomeini's designs upon southern Iraq.
