The SOLE reason Lydia disliked BJ in the film was only because the higher-ups that Burton sold his script to told him that BJ had to be the villain, even though Burton WANTED BJ to be the hero. So really, this cartoon is closer to Burton's ORIGINAL idea. And since BJ is HIS creation, I stick with what the creator wants.

actually, the very original script has BJ as a demon with wings who terrorizes the Deetz's and the Maitlands. Lydia has a little sister who was the real main character. she gets mauled to death by BJ as a squirrel and Lydia gets raped by him instead of married.

it was a very dark horror movie to begin with.

And really, Burton DID want BJ to be the hero of the film--and no doubt that were a sequel made, it would end up as Burton wished--but higher ups in Hollywood made him change the script, both the bad parts and the good parts.

The original script was much more darker and violent- and that included beetlejuice. Orignally he was supposed to murder the whole family- except lydia, who he wanted to rape. So, somehow, I dont see how he would've come out as the good guy. Burton only directed it, he didn't write the script, or the rewrite. He also didn't direct the nightmare before christmas, that he wrote. People dont know shit about shit.

*sighs* it's true that Burton produced both, BUT the cartoon is only loosely based on the movie, it uses Beetlejuice, Lydia, and her parents, but not much else, the dead couple from the movie are nowhere to be found, and Lydia and Beetlejuice are best friends, despite the fact that she did not like BJ at all in the movie, and most likely would only hate him after he tried to get her to marry him.

And karmos, anybody can see the dead if they're willing. Remember the handbook did say that "The Living usually WON'T see The Dead", but Lydia, Otho, and apparently, Bertha & Prudence can see the ghosts.
