@vcval We in north america make a difference between utes with ladder frame and utes with unibody. For instance we wouldn't call a ford falcon ute a pickup truck. Those who wanted cars bought cars, those who wanted trucks bought trucks. So the cars with rear tray never really caught on. We had the el camino and the ford ranchero up to the early 1980s I believe.
in Australia we call pick up truck's " UTE's" (utility vehicle) @3:51 there is a nifty bmw ute , could call it the bm double ute lol
