This is all in good fun, and well done, but as a patient who couldn't get an airway upon extubation following a lap chole and was conscious but mostly immobile as I couldn't breathe, desperately forming my fingers into O-2... O-2... O-2... and hoping someone was paying attention, the humor isn't quite the same for me. I don’t mean to be a downer, but waking up actually _can_ be hard to do, and when it is, it can be terrifying. (I'm sure the Laryngospasms understand this.)

What some people do not realize is that nursing is hard, and we have a lot of times where it is emotionally draining. In the ambulance i'm sure you saw a lot of death and horrors. I still get the worst at times in dialysis or pediatric home care.

Humor is our lifeline. It helps us detatch just a little so we don't lose our minds--otherwise we can't do our jobs.

And music. I sing to the babies I care for as well. Even comedic music is a healing force.

I was in Knee Surgery in 1992 in Seattle

The anestiologists gave me a hell of a high before I was out under in 10 seconds

Today it's Sodium Tiopental (used on executed inmates) but I got a very small

dose allowed to surgery patients.

I recovered and put back where I was when I woke up I listened to Rush Limbaugh

My Doctor came in and saw me laughing. He wondered why,

I told him Hey listen to Limbaugh. I turned up my radio so he could hear, that made The Dr. happy.
