  • His sexuality has nothing to do with what he is as a human and what he achieved. He raised floor gymnastics in a new level and made us as Greeks very proud! Now for those who continue to comment the fact that he is bisexual and especially if they are Greek, I would say that first make your country proud and then talk!! Malakes!!!! e Malakes!!!

  • @lostintime1980 FUCK YOU

  • that's so dope I'm stoned from it.

  • G R E E K G O D !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ooo he is gay! oh my god i am so very shocked! Gays! I thought "those creatures" were extinct in the big fire of 1439...

  • since 90% of comments on his videos is about his gayness, there must be something wrong on his part...

  • i think his short is too skimpy...

  • of course its NOT an insult to be gay, its a privilege and honour!

  • gay? silly me i thought he was competing on gymnastics not sexuality... So did he win? :P

  • He is THE YOUNGEST MALE OLYMPIC CHAMPION IN GYMNASTICS HISTORY ,THE FIRST GYMNAST FOR GREECE EVER to win a medal at the Olympic games , World and European Championships, and is considered to be the MOST SUCCESSFUL GREEK ATHLETE OF ALL TIME.

    My deepest respect and admiration!!!

  • @vincent000e the fact that he is gay or not has nothing to do with the fact he GOOD as u said... so your comment is totally "NO SENSE" ¬¬

  • @vincent000e still "no sense" coment... have u already heard about "personal style"?! that's his style.... reminds me a old soviet gymnast who used to be a ballet dancer on the FX his name is Sergei Khizhnyakov

  • the way he moves is nto because he is gay ! you are a know-it all upstart!

  • @lucped he can have whatever sexual preferences he likes. my point i that his gayness affects his gymnastics. he moves like a girl between his tumbling lines and flicks his arm in a gayish way. i dont like it.

  • @lucped My sentiments exactly! He proved to people that gymnastics is all about perfect technique and execution. And in my opinion, gay gymnasts are alot cleaner and stronger than straight gymnasts.

  • @vincent000e U POOR THING

  • @snofagun1814 I don't like his style because it's feminine. do you have a problem understanding that?

  • @vincent000e

Melissanidis may be gay but you are the one who suck with comments like this!

  • @gymfever I don't know about that. Since gymnastic is an artistic sport I think it's fair to comment on his style...

  • @vincent000e

I think you are mixing style and sexuality then... Yes, he is very feminine in his execution and body language, you can comment on that, but use another word than GAY to comment on his style.

But if you are having some trouble with the fact that he may be gay, then there is no point carrying this discussion as your problem is deeper than you think...

Maybe deep down you wish that his shorts were even shorter... Ahaaa haa.

Funny but possible... Think about it.

  • @gymfever Don't you think his style reflects his sexuality? Mixing up? There is obviously a connection between the two. As far as the use of the word gay goes, I pretty sure many would associate his style with... being gay. Just confess that I'm right...

  • @vincent000e

Yes you are right, if that can teach you to shut up when appropriate, then you are right ;-)

  • @vincent000e then y the fuck wood u watch it if u dont appreciate how hard that is lil bitch

  • @vincent000e i am greek.i know very well greek history and mythology.YOU dont know nothing about olympique games and generaly gymnastics!no sense comments and if you lived in ancient greece you would have insulted not only the athlete but the whole game that means that you would have insulted all athletes which mean that you would have insulted athens sparta thiva etc etc which means that you would be the most dishonored man in greece which means that your name would be the

  • the most dishonorable figure in history..unfortunately nowdays we do not write down the names of the blasfemers....

  • @AmOnDeathBreath actually, homosexuality was very common in ancient greece because of all the beautiful men showing off their bodies. i think it's okay to comment on his style, it's an artistic sport. i do not like his style, that's all i'm saying, and i have the right to express my opinion. and i find his style gay and silly affected.

  • @vincent000e yeah you are right!!and also a version of zeus who was like a protector of these men.i know the culture of my country and yess you have the right to express your opinion but not insult the athlete.you should have expressed your opinion in a way that it was not an insult.you may dint want to but for the others is still an insult..

  • @AmOnDeathBreath I don't know him, but I'm sure he is a good guy, I dont' hold anything against him as a person. There's no need to feel so insulted just because I called him a gay.

  • @vincent000e maybe

  • he's good but he could be a little more normal and not so gay

  • @dominicanbolito HUH? What's normal for you may not be normal for him or me! This is gymnastics not a contest to see who is the most heterosexual! If you don't like it don't watch! If you don't like homosexuals then careful who cuts your hair, makes your clothes, cooks/serves your food, composes the music you listen to, creates the art you stare at...etc... wow i feel sorry for you because you're gonna miss out on a lot!!

  • @tallrob11 i'm not saying its bad its just a little awkward to watch and to tell people that i do gymnastics when he's a guy representing gymnastics. i'm just giving my opinion cuz its not normal for me so u don't have freak out cuz i think differently

  • @dominicanbolito Also most male gymnast can learn a thing a two from him (and more or less the chinese men) on how to combine artistry and difficulty and maybe more people would take notice and start watching more and not cut the tv off when the females finish the competition. Oh wait there's a reason why the females go last so people wouldn't even bother cutting on the tv until they come on lol. fucking loser.

  • @dominicanbolito First he is the only guy that does gymnastics like that (meaning artistically)like in the past um 20 years or even more. Second the general public dont even know who he is, so how would people look to him and think all gymnast must be "gay" when he aint around anymore. Third you are so insecure its sad. Your deserve all the teasing and bulling you get being a male gymnast in the Dominican community. So don't blame him you get teased cause its not his fault.

  • @jzb88 you are an idiot

  • @backflipboy27 well youre a faggot just go ahead and go do melissanidis

  • @jzb88 grow up dude ¬¬ idiot

  • he gives gymnastics a bad name...hes good but this doesnt represent us very well haha

  • @jzb88 How does he give gymnastics a bad name? He was the Olympic Floor Exercise champion in 1996 and has the Yurchenko Double Back Tuck and Pike vaults named after him.

  • @markedexclusive to ppl that arent gymnasts. if you arent a gymnast and you see this guy what are you gonna think?

  • @jzb88 that he is a good gymnast ¬¬

  • @jzb88 Yes, I'm sure Ionnis really gives a fuck what people like YOU think...

  • Comment removed

  • @jzb88 Culture yourself, please.

  • perfection...

  • se ele é gay nao importa ... vamos la apre4sentaçao é muito dificil e linda...que mizeri a é aquela primeira passada..rapáiz coisa de louco...

  • Elegance; that's the word that can describe him best! He's the most elegant male gymnast ever!

  • Roundoff, whipback, double layout, punch front full then. Allrighty. *dies* xoStephy :P

  • I loved this guy; he had such grace. And how man men do you see doing a needlestand?? You can see his ballet training here, its just beautiful, and adds something very special to his routine. Mens floor has gotten quite boring, its just run after run after run; at last Ioannis adds a little bit of choreography to his routine. Those passes made me go WOW!!!

  • Wow - I assumed he retired after Atlanta.

His double layout to punch front in 96 was pretty much perfect, but to upgrade it to a whip with front full is insane. I also love his extension; it's something many male floor workers today lack.

Did he get a medal here?!

    :-)

  • sadly now. 4th

  • He competed only in Vault in Sydney and finished 7th in event finals :(

  • I don't get how they score the dismount if he does a punch front out of the double lay...do they just add the values together or what?

  • Comment removed

  • Well, this is from 1999. Under that Code of Points (if I remember correctly), there was a scheme by which subsequent tricks are upgraded one letter if the previous trick was a C or higher. The dismount back then (again, if I remember) had to be a C or higher to get full credit, and the punch front would be upgraded to a C after the tucked full-in.

Under the new Code, there is no value-raising. Also, full dismount credit requires a D dismount. His dismount under the new Code would be an A.

  • Alright thanks, that makes sense.

  • you're right!

  • @dd8yf How could that dismount be an A??? are you sure?

  • @metsdudenj Under the current Code, yes, the dismount would be an A. The last pass is tucked full-twisting double back, punch front tuck, which is D + A. Under the current Code, of course, there is no value-raising of skills and the last element competed counts as the dismount. That makes his dismount the front tuck -- an A value skill -- and he would get him no credit for the dismount element group, which requires a minimum D value skill. (Source: I'm a nationally-certified men's judge.)

  • @metsdudenj I thought the full in itself had been lowered to an A, and I was like wft??? Adding the skill makes it tougher, so you would think the gymnast would get some extra points for the risk at least. So combining skiills doesnt do much i guess. So then a whip to a double twist is worth the same as a backhandspring double twist?

  • if i was that guys feet i would wish i was dead

  • Oso kai na me ksenizei to stylaki tou den mporo na min paradexto oti edo ta spaei. Afto einai akoma pio dyskolo ki apo tis Atlanta.

  • one of the most difficult floor routines.

    I'm still like wowowowow

So what if he's gay. Does not matter because he could make that difficult and did such an exciting gymnastics. This is better than todays men floor gymnastics

  • that absolutly outstanding i´ve never seen a routine like this before amazing!

  • I LOVE Ioannis Melissanidis!!! His gold in 96 is still my favourite floor routine in history... UNTIL NOW!!! LOL! WTF, freakin INCREDIBLE. I LOVE MELISSANIDIS!!!

    XOXO Lisa :D

  • kala e ti kanei o anthropos!!!!!!!!!!!

  • If you see in these terms, then all the guys doing this sort of sport, are "girls," even those of your very own country! Racist asshole!

  • i am not getting your point! Who did touch what?

  • la mariqueta del video

  • 1980 troll you are a stupid troll. your ip should be permabanned

  • thanx god you the german nazis didnt win the WW2, eitherwise you would have killed everyone even yourselves.

  • layout to double layout is awesome

  • iwannis melissanidis is gold winner in atlanda 96 ,he is greek and very nice athlete.

  • dude that arm circle transition makes me laugh. whatever though, that dude is awesome, and so is his fricken vault

  • he shoud do the routine with music

  • the first pass....... is amazing

  • Nemov can throw a double layout out of a handspring combo but not a whipback, so don't talk shit. Nemov is a powerfull gymnast , but floor is not his specialty

  • What R U talking about? Nemov IS a floor specialst (his opening pass AKA a straight full-out is one of the toughest in the world), but Melissanidis throws some crazy skills too!

  • li xiaoshuang doesnt look weird like this guy, and li is much bettr.....

  • im chinese, but i think this guy pwned everyone

  • super difficult!!!

  • true, his whip does take all of his height, but the full-in punch front was a great dismount.

  • Not a fan of the akward chereography but I've never seen someone punch full out of a double lay. I wish he would take the whip out, his double lay is so shallow because of it. I cant complain to much however...he did punch a full out of it.

  • you dont know very much about gymnastics do you? the whip is there to upgrade the full. if he were to take the whip out the full would be worth a letter lower

  • u assume i dont know much about gymnastics...i didnt say anything about values of the skill...i would just rather see him get more hight out of the double lay by taking out the whip. they even say in the video that the whip gaines more value.

  • sry i watch with no sound (not being sarcastic)i didnt know :]

  • Stunning tumbling!

  • I'm not talking about his whole career! Of course Nemov is a better gymnast! I'm just saying that their elegance and style are comparable. I'm not sure if Alexei has taken ballet training (it looks like it, though); I know Melissanidis has had.

  • But, even if I love Melissanidis work, do men really need to take ballet training?...

  • It doesn't hurt; if you notice, he has absolutely no form breaks and his presentation is superb. It's a matter of personal taste (I love it, BTW) whether you like his choreography or not, but you can't deny he really stands out as a gymnast. Check out his dismount! Simply exquisite!

  • Yes I really love the perfection for men... Melissanidis, but also Nemov, Misiutin also, Ivankov... But for Meli, it's kinda too much... But it's a meter of taste : ) !

  • It's true, he tends to overdo it, but I personally don't mind his flexibility and his toe point. Especially if we bear in mind the countless flat-feet female gymnasts who compete today...

  • That's so right! But for the toe point and line, flexibility, If every male would be like him it would be a dream! Nemov was something like this, but still move as a man... I prefer this.

  • Best lines ever, along with Alexei Nemov!

  • not even close to alexei nemov sorry.

  • very sloppy

  • not even close? are u crazy ? he did double layout out of whipback and punch a front full...

  • Yes , he is much better than Nemov my friend :)

  • a little too gay but very impresive

  • yeah your right but very powerful....

  • loki, a lot of people might say you are a little too much of an ignorant piece of shit.
