@TheMetallo4ever lol. The guy's a Filipino, bro. A friend of mine went to college with him before he went to Japan and studied at M.I. (not sure If It's M.I. , but he definitely enrolled into some serious ass burning music school).
I doubt as many would say he is a Kotzen copy if he didn't have Richie's signature guitar.
I have a signature guitar and even if I could play like its name sake (Herman Li) I wouldn't do it all the time. It just has every feature I wanted in a guitar.
true, first you could hear a big paul gilbert influence on him, that's when we both went to the same music college in the Philippines... We used to jam alot and he taught me a lot of Racer X stuff. When he visitedd the philippines in 2k6 you could hear a lot of fusion tone in his playing. Haru is an awesome guitarist!
kotzen simply inspires this guy. who cares if he sounds like him. its like saying every metal player sounds like metal and every blues player sounds like blues...because everything just falls under a genre. if u really wanna sound different then go make up some weird alien sounding thing....
ok unless u know these guys personaly and have sat with both of them to judge shut the fuck up about who is better ur just ignorant pieces of shit they playin different styles of music so its impossable to tell from the two videos so shut up
Nunca falta el ignorante envidioso como DOGMANINO, que escribe comentarios solo para molestar, seguro que ni siquiera el timbre de la puerta toca jajajjaja, escucha buena musica chabon. XD
It is Richie's signature guitar. I don't of any other tele's that come with gold plated hardware, and if you look closely, there's the RK signature on the headstock. I own the same guitar.
And most of the riffs he's playing are identical to Richie. Same style, feel, everything. Hell, he's nearly got the same tone. Seriously, this is all Kotzen.
@apollominor i was juts annoyed that some think that he is nothing more than a kotzen copycat even though he has a good own flare in playing the guitar. and yes i also know that kotzen uses quite a bit of funk
yup, he is from the philippines you are right. because a friend of mine is a close friend of this guitarist...and i guess they have been playing for a while. anyways my friend plays thesame as this guy. you probably know who i am talking about if you are a classmate of this guy.
I didn't mean to offend this guy! Plus I enjoy so much his playing. ( I have to say Im a little jelous:))
But that's a fact he is a great Kotzen fan, and he copies his style, sound, and image. Of course later he will find his own style! And I have to say again: HE'S AN AMAIZING GUITAR PLAYER!!!
to all the guys who say he's Richie Kotzen coppy, I'd like to remind you that when Richie Kotzen first came out, he sounded just like Steve Vai, so the bottom line is we all have are influences or better said, those players who inspire us to play in the first place, food for licks ;-)
@zefurioustube most people will only look at the guitar and judge by that. if he was using a white stratocaster people would probably call him and yngwie copy.
Holy shit, he played basically every lick Kotzen has taught down to the exact note. People are saying he played it differently but I have a lot of Kotzen licks from Guitar World, and learned them thorougly, they are exactly the same. This guy seems pretty talented, but honestly I prefer Kotzen's soloing style.
can someone be influenced by someone and add a lil of their style into their own shit without being a wannabe? for real No one can be a guitarist now cause in one way or anothe rthey'll be a wannabe of Dime, kotzen, yngwie, Vai, satch, gilbert, eddie, vaughn, johnson, buckethead, etc, anywho he apparently won the GIT Grand Prix pretty good for a wanna be. and how much can honestly be done now that hasn't been done by someone at some point when there are all the people I'vejustlisted + mike patton
i didn't hear a single vai or holdsworth, pretty much all of holdsworth licks are four notes per string which this guys little asian hands couldn't handle, but yes you are very knowledgeable mr mulderxyz, thank you for sharing
i don't "hate", i'm pointing out what's obvious. i neither complimented him or disrespected him - would you feel disrespected if i said you had a hendrix or beck influence in your playing? didn't think so.
Haha, I saw some of Hendrix's other stuff at Woodstock besides purple haze, and it was god awful, terrible sound, and playing, no offense jimi you dead bastard
tahts funny because with out jimi we'd have no malmsteen and you may not like malmsteen(i dont too much) but he did open doors for shred. And every guitarist has been influenced by malmsteen at some point so thank jimi hendrix for influencing malmsteen, who inturn influenced everyone into shred a little bit.
i couldn´t decied between a marshall or hughes&kettner triamp mk2....i choosed the triamp mk 2...and what do i see now....somebody is playing over both at the same time
They are completely different players. Haruhisa has a much better legato technique I'd say. Ohmura has a better alternate pick and a better feel for rock. Haruhisa is good at Jazz/blues fusion. Can't really say one is better than the other. They are too different.
Yea you're right... This is just a guy playing some funk guitar.. He's not copying kotzen at all..He's just doing the thing he does best; and that's playing the guitar (:
not necessarily but alot of his licks sound very close to kotzens. his use of tone, legato, sweeping and hybrid picking even bears alot of resemblence. copycat may not be the word but he was definitely heavily influenced by kotzen.
