Remember everyone, these girls had to look a certain way or have particularly unique physical characteristics to even be considered for entrance into this ballet school. It's not like in the United States or the UK where just because you have the money and you just want to, you can take lessons at a prestigious ballet school. Even SAB in New York lets "fat girls" take ballet lessons, if their parents are willing to pay. At Vaganova, you have to be chosen based on some very strict standards.
to everybody who thinks it matters what they eat or don't eat fyi they are FINE! They get kicked out if they're not and also if Russian ballet is done correctly it trims your muscles down to 1/8 inch think
They obviously have to eat because they wouldn't have the energy to dance all day. They are skinny because of all the dancing they do.. they basically can eat anything and it won't do anything because they dance so much.
i have a friend in russia who has been to an audition at the vaganova. she says at least half of the girls there eat tonns of chocolate after class, and then they go to the toilet to spit it out again -.- so DADABallerina, shut up.... -.- dont be such a know it all!!! Oo
If you're at the vaganova, then u'd know that they dance max 8h a day... so its like.. watever they eat.. they'll always stay that slim -.- they're not anerexic at all!

I stopped for 3 years.. I got "in shape"
Now I'm dancing again.. and I'm not gaining any weight - only loosing - whatever I eat...
Does anyone know if the placing of the groups represents the skill level? Like are the middle girls the best in the class?

@americainapparel i believe the title means grade 5, part 11. but i dont know how old grade 5 is, sorry! they look about 14-16 though.

yes, they follow a special curriculum of general education (history, maths and law)
