  • he should be in a fucking screamo band

  • the best umaga!

  • What the fuck?

  • what kiwi`s say mean maori mean

  • @TheGAMEFREAK512 I would be lying if I said I understood even part of that.

  • Like a boss.

  • Rico Gear's back must've be stinging

  • no one will ever live up to umaga when it come to leading the haka

  • fika mai le pese

  • 1:18 hahaha "CLACK"

  • THE FUCKING BEST HAKA THERE EVER WAS IN ALL THE GAMES THEY PLAYED!

    thx for the upload ;)

  • Piri is the man

  • BOOOOO ADIDAS !

  • like a boss

  • Passion, power, emotion, skill, and an unrivaled need to be the best. as an Englishman it pains me to say, that's why the ABs are the best in the world

    Ki Ora

  • the springboks look a tad scared

  • Anyone else think Piri Weepu leads the Haka much better than Tana Umaga?

  • @AdamWest4life no way man....this shit gives me goosebumps

  • @AdamWest4life Dude, that war cry practically translates to 'I'm gunna rip out your small intestine and strangle you with it'. Tana Umaga is by FAR, in my opinion, the better leader.

  • @J4C145T312 There's not one line in Kapa O Pango that translates to anything near ''I'm gunna rip out your small intestine and strangle you with it''.

So what the fuck are you talking about?

  • @AdamWest4life it's a joke mate, lighten up

  • @J4C145T312 You're a towel

  • @AdamWest4life this performance by umaga is outstanding, bro... no question

  • Collins Umaga Hayman !! Big Up Toulon ;)

  • As an American with no taste in music, I find it offensive that you can't differentiate between Creed, Nickleback, Puddle of Mud and Foo Fighters.

  • @Daraymann The Foo Fighters would no doubt find it offensive that you mentioned them in the same sentence as Creed.

  • the best Kapa O Pango ever!

  • And on another note, as a proud Kiwi of Maori heritage, I find it offensive that you can't differentiate the between a Haka (A traditional Maori war dance), a Cibi (A Fijian war dance), a Siva Tau (the Samoan equivalent) and the Sipi Tau (Tonga's Kailao or war dance). So both teams never do the Haka, but in tonight's World Cup opening match, both the Haka and the Sipi Tau will be performed. Learn the difference please!

  • @Sundance540 May I just ask what qualifies you to be the voice of many on this topic? If other rugby teams and nations actually had a problem with teams performing something, surely this 'atrocity' that you seem to believe it is, would be well over by now. But the fact remains, the crowd, the players and the opposing team love it. The haka represents their Maori culture and heritage, and is therefore something that they have every right to do and be proud of.

  • Ko Hikurangi te maunga

    Ko Waiapu te awa

    Ko Ngati Porou te iwi.

    EastCoast-Ruatoria HARD!

  • Let me become one with the land

This is our land that rumbles

And it's my time! It's my moment!

This defines us as the All Blacks

It's my time! It's my moment!

    Our dominance

    Our supremacy will triumph

And will be placed on high

Silver fern! All Blacks! Silver fern! All Blacks!

  • @Sundance540 Im sorry, perhaps my first comment was a little too hot headed. I disagree with your viewpoint but i would like to know more about why you feel this way. Do you have any other points to back up that the rest of the rugby world is tiring of the Haka? And why do you feel it's an unfair advantage?

  • all blacks energy increase 110%

  • @Sundance540

Yeah righto mate. Your entitled to your opinion but I'm entitled to say you are an idiot. The Haka is something the entire Rugby world respects and admires because of how awesome it is. The time they 'do away with the Haka' will never and should never come...

  • @apoiner You are certainly entitled to your opinion but as you are obviously retarded its not really worth much. The entire rugby world doesnt respect it because its awesome. The northern hemisphere teams endure it out of tradition but the novelty is wearing off. And it will be changed in future, or perhaps every team should get a minute to do something ? Perhaps france in the world cup should have a minute to shout at NZ and make threatening gestures ?

  • I like it when Kapa o Pango is done. To be completely honest, I think that Ka Mate has lost it's touch. Some opposing players actually look like they're about to shit themselves when they see Kapa o Pango whereas Ka Mate is seen by a lot of other opposing players as just a thing the AB's do before a match and can't wait to get it over and done with.

  • Bout time the Haka was done away with in Rugby. Either that or every team has a few minutes to do whatever they want, making threatening gestures, shouting, makin faces or whatever. To allow one team to do this kind thing and force the opposition to stand and watch it is a bit stupid. All well and good when both teams do the haka but when facing a team that doesnt it shouldnt be allowed.

  • @Sundance540 But they aren't the only team, all of the Pacific Island Nations do it with pride. You say that is should be allowed when both teams do the Haka yet you contradict yourself by saying "To allow one team to do this kind thing".

The ramblings of an old man?

  • @taweraster Its weird, you obviously read my comment yet you didnt understand one bit of it. You must be new to rugby so I'll explain. Ya see theres other teams from other places that do not do the Haka. And when they play a team that does they are forced by protocol to stand there while the other team makes threatening gestures and tries to intimidate them. Its ok when both teams do the Haka, but not all teams do it, there are more than just pacific island nations in the world of rugby.

  • @Sundance540 Oh my apologies, a good fix would be too have an IRB vote on the subject, every international team registered with the IRB gets to say whether they want the haka performed against them. Those who say no can change there mind whenever they please.

I think that would be fair to everyone.

  • @taweraster Vote would be good. I can see a lot teams that might vote against it. Its not that I dont respect it or anything its just that it is an advantage to the team performing it. Its a chance to get riled up, to intimidate. I think I remember some team years ago trying to or maybe even stopping the all black from performing it.

  • @Sundance540 Yeah that was Wales, the All Blacks performed it in the Changing Rooms and even Welsh fans were angry at the WRU. I'm not new to Rugby by the way, I was chatting with Jonah Lomu on the Viaduct this morning. I'm actually writing for Ultimaterugby.webs com on the Welsh Rugby campaign.

  • @taweraster Sorry if I was a bit rude that "ramblings of an old man" dig angered up my blood some.

  • Umaga looking like the predator...i remember the goosebumps watching for the first time ...it started with the guy with a baritone voice singing the anthem.

  • One of the best Hakas for one reason...Umaga gets fuckin fired up

  • hawaii is full of samoans, the samoans do a haka in rugby, same as new zealand, and alot of the new zealanders aren't maori themselves nowadays, but we dont fall on them like a ton of bricks. just saying

  • As usuall the americans copy the rest of the world. Rugby rules as does the ab. Game on

  • I miss Umaga!

  • Really play rugby is understand how dangerous American football would be without the pads.

  • Ok I play rugby now that I am in college and I have fallen in love with the sport. But that said why does American football have to be for faggs? It's a game that's just as physical as rugby its just different. The pads are neccessary. We hit differently. We put our heads across the ball carriers body in football so we need the helmet and shoulder pads. We also hit people no matter where they are on the field, at anytime so there are a lot of times u can be hit completely unawares so if u

  • is it me or is this slowed down lol

  • Like a Boss

  • Taringa whakarongo! Kia rite! Kia rite! Kia mau! Hi! Ki-a whaka-whenua au i a-hau! 1 Hi! Au-e, Hi! Ko Aotearoa e ngu-ngu-ru nei! 2 Au, Au, Au-ë Ha! Ko kapa o pango e ngu-ngu-ru nei! Au, Au, Au-ë Ha! I ahaha!3 Ka tū te ihi-ihi 4 Ka tū te wana-wana. Ki runga ki te rangi 5 E tū iho nei E tū iho nei. Hi! Ponga rä! 6 Kapa o Pango, Au-e, Hi! Ponga rä! Kapa o Pango, Au-ë, Hi! HA!!!

  • i have a whole lot of love for tana umaga after watching this... he is boss.

  • @toknchar I used to watch this when I was around 16 and played rugby myself and I felt deepest admiration for Tana Umaga. Now, watching it again after a while, I cannot help but being downright SCARED! He's the man...

  • @amziadi i know!! intimidation in its finest form right there... it's barely understandable why so many teams took offense at this. it's like... ka mate isn't exactly a hug before a match either. i mean they're playing rugby for fucksake and they get offended at gestures / traditional motivational techniques?? harden up lads.

  • Raindance 2.0

  • wie komen er van dumpert?

  • dumpert.

  • aaron mauger out front all by himself. go white boy. man, i love this version of the haka its awesome

  • 1:06 "DONT EAT ME!"

  • jeeez how he slaps Ricos Back :S

  • The "Kapa O Pango" haka was used by the University of Hawaii Warriors in 2006, before they created their own war dance, the "Haʻa", in the Hawaiian language with original movements.

  • Comment removed

  • I absolutely shit you not when Tana goes nuts and starts scratching his chest my entire body does something i can't explain....i watch this before i go to the gym....unreal level of passion, who says men can't move mountains :-)?

  • @SammyKTA still stupid

  • didnt people try to ban this, serously people need to stop being soft and realise rugby is a tough sport unlike football. and to be honest the only reason why they dont want other sportsmen apart from rugby doing it cos they wouldnt be able to do it properly and would make tards out of themselves considering its a war dance, i barely call football war considering all they do is fall over and pretend they are hurt.

  • well the other team just shit their pants

  • i'm not even from new zealand, and i love the All Blacks, i admire their haka so freaking much, best team ever ^^

  • My God amazing respect for all blacks just grows and grows respect from Ireland

  • The All Blacks were going to reveal the new haka against the British & Irish Lions earlier in the year. But thought it more appropriate to do it against the traditional foe the Springboks! I don't know if South Africans are honoured by this gesture, or whether they consider it as trivial.

  • THIS IS SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAARTA

  • kapa haka. u aussie

  • used to do a haka very similar back in primary =)

  • Nah Umaga > any Maori Ive seen leading the haka. Love the back stroking thing in the middle not sure whats it about but looks pretty cool

  • shit myself jst watching it!

  • oh c'mon!!! Is not traditionally.like Ka Mate...its invented.

    Is cool,but not genuine...

  • the most amazing haka ever to be done by the abz!! makes the hairs on the bak of my neck stand up eveytime i watch it. Tana Umaga is a legend!

  • i like it. Just dont like how they tend to race through the haka. But still good :)

  • man you fellas are crazy Tana is wack leading this...i love the bro but hes screaming ...Piri or Jose lead this the best. But i love Tana Umaga heaps of mana that fella.

  • i saw this when is was first posted... 1:11 still gives me chills.

  • This haka caused the Australian scrum to shit its pants for 6 years and they're still shitting themselves.

Tana, you are a freakin legend!

  • Man they must be frightned... frightned that NZ is gonna kick theeir ass! :)

  • Ruthless.... throat slit is meant to represent the cutting edge of sport... yeah right- they do it cos it pisses australia off...lol good on them : p

  • I disagree with YouJarrad. Taine Randall led the Haka like you would imagine a 10 year old girl would lead a Haka. Tana Umanga is awesome. So is Piri Weepu. And thats only because they go mental. The more mental they go the better. They should brings knives. And thats my two cents.

  • @jimbobjones45 I agree. And thats my two cents.

  • I could watch this over and over and never get sick of it ! up the ALL BLACKS BAYBEE ;)

  • Tana;s mana rests lightly on his shoulders

  • you can even feel it in hell shit yeah...lol

  • Dont ya just love the expresion on the face of the oposition when its finished? " We had or work cut out for us to start with , but now where fucked".

  • I just crapped my pants, bring back tana

  • lmao at the guy at 1:45 . He grins and i bet you he thinks to him self "we are fucking dead"

  • taine Randall was the best haka leader

  • Can't believe this got banned just because of the throat slice at the end, its pathetic

  • @FutureCommando it didnt, this haka is still done today.. just without the cut throat

  • i dis agree tana's ok but were i come from tana does a pitiful job at it im not saying tana dosent do that but hosea gear does better

  • That would use up like all of my energy.

  • tana is a beast :p

  • Tana umaga is a beast

  • Is it just me or do any other kiwis out there reckon that American Footballers stealing the haka is totally disrespectful seeing as the cant even pronounce it properly -.-

  • @Bullshifta Yes! Not only are they stealing our hakas. They're getting all the facts about it mixed up saying its hawiian and stupid shit like that. And the worst thing is they suck shit at it!!!

  • @Bullshifta I know what you're getting at. But as long as they do it for the right reason, I think it's quite flattering.

  • @Bullshifta i've never seen the haka done in football...

  • @Bullshifta I think it's a fucking insult.

They take Rugby and modify it and add protective gear.

    Fine with me.

But when they use the haka in their football games.

Rugby is where its at. Fuck American Football, over half of the NFL

    players are obese.

  • @Outlawzand1 What most people are unaware of is these teams have a high number of pan-polynesian residents, other than Maori. Others have had polynesian players in their teams and started the tradition, which was adopted and carried on. Some of these college football teams also have New Zealand coaches, that use the Haka.

  • @Bullshifta where did you see american footballers performing a haka?

  • @DerkaDerka66 Could be refering to the Hawaiian Football team, they used the Haka. They used the Maori Haka to identify with their Polynesian ancestry. It inspired them to create their own Haka based on their Hawaiian roots.

  • @kiwicanuck1973 doesnt sound so bad to me

  • @Bullshifta American football is for faggs!

  • @Bullshifta i'm welsh and i find that offensive, the haka is part of NZ culture, to me the haka is intimidating and something quite beautiful it's not something for other cultures to use without any understanding of it's importance, we can repesct and admire it but thats as far as it should go, bloody americans

  • @Bullshifta no one else except us kiwis should be allowed to perform any of the Haka.... Our culture!! Agreed Bullshitta,

  • @Bullshifta hard, they use it 2 show off. They have no idea or the meaning of doing a haka

and what it represents. just like all their other sports its all about hype.

  • @Bullshifta I watch both games and love them both. I can see your point to a certain extent. The main team in American Football that performs such a dance is the Hawaii Warriors College Football Team, who perform a variant called the Ha'a before kickoff. To me, performing the Ha'a is fine, since it is a Hawaiian thing. However, I have also seen them perform the Haka, which I agree, isn't on, since it is a Maori tradition.

It just depends on your perception of historical and cultural borders.

  • @Bullshifta Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so no.

  • @Bullshifta

i'm not even kiwi but i definately find it disrespectful as shit. they use it for the wrong reasons reather than a cultural thing

  • @TiN0350 If you're not even kiwi then what the fuck would you know? It is maori war dance that was newly made to represent the multitude of cultures that take home in new zealand. The only thing disrespectful here is you.

  • @xJayMEEH ul thank me when u check out my page sexy boy

  • @xJayMEEH U SOUND HOT!

  • It's not Ka mate but it's crazy how the haka has become faster and faster with years....

  • fuck australia for bitching about the cut throat

  • I think the commentator was supposed to say ''a haka particular to'' not ''a haka perculiar to'' lol.

  • eew east coast :S

  • Tana is class.

  • very passionate!

  • man piri weepu is a maniac lol!!!he is just a WARRIOR period

  • gear brothers r the best alright

  • does any one know if there is a new one? i may be mistaken but i swear there are 3 versions - the orignal/this one/and a new one recently come out???

    anyone...?

  • @ShnuckFuckle a new one? lol... no a new one hasn't come out.

  • @RampinAchilles no it was the tinatanga i had seen for the first time and ddnt realise it was the maoris !

  • @ShnuckFuckle im sure there is 2 the first one they did against wales was different

  • Get your cameras ready. Tonight, again at Carisbrook, Dundedin, Kapa O Pango will be performed against Wales in the ground's final test match.

  • Man this is epic, always a pretty passionate rivalry between NZ and SA..Just wondering guys, what has a greater tradition and significance, the rivalry between the Wallabies versus NZ or NZ versus the Springboks?? from your own perspective

  • @Niallersz Absolutely has to be the rivalry between us and the Boks, the Wallabies couldn't play until the 80's, lol. It's a much physically tougher, more staunch tradition between us and the Boks, even with the playing drought that occurred during the apartheid years, it still comes down to us and them for me. To win the Bledisloe is great, but to beat South Africa is better!

  • Crak up wen umaga smacks rico on da back

  • @Tommy89fly all blacks won! we need to win this match to retain the tri-nations!

  • this makes me so proud to be a kiwi and I really wish I was maori,

    Tana Umaga is a god

I miss this haka, its not performed enough

  • Far out, doesn't matter how many times I've seen that first performance, I still LOVE it. I remember everyone going crazy over this! I'm so glad that the ABs have their own haka, and one that is actually appropriate to the context in which it is being performed. I have grown up loving seeing Te Rauparaha's haka, but this one, like NZ Maori's haka, is MEAN!

  • respect!

  • piri weepu looks like he wants to murder someone

  • Tana Umaga scares the shit outa me in this!

  • i play rugby leuge but i still use the union haka to get be fired for matchs

  • 's last game in Wellys, fucken awesome!

  • Love the Haka Full stop but THIS.. is by far my favourite version. Tana Umaga is the quintessential leader of the haka in my eyes...Go Kiwi's Go the AB's...

  • Monsters!!! All Blacks for the win, no doubt.

  • can someone tell me what the name of the player at 1:23 is? thank you!

  • Piri Weepu

  • thx man!

  • piri weepu

  • YOU BETTER BRING IT, GIRLFRIEND!

  • I Miss Tana Umaga!!!!

  • me to..n taine randall

  • The best rugby Ive ever seen played so far in my lifetime.. the All Blacks of 05 / 06...

  • lol not the Tana looks like a eel, Cant beat Piri cutting the throat, eyes roll back in the head

  • tana umanga looks like an eel...

  • no one does this like tana. he was the leader, an all time great.

  • this is the first time i ever saw this. I love it!Now all i need is for somebody to explain the rules of the game!

  • ha i looked it up on wikipedia...its way more detailed and complicated than i thought. make sure you have a hour free to read everything about it

  • thanks a bunch!

  • I'm scared and I'm not even playing them........ that throat cutting motion.... that did it.

  • What's cool about that is that it's not even supposed to be intimidating. Its a motion to "revitatalize the vitals" by pulling the energy across the body. the whole dance is soo symbolic

  • Yeah, I know! I watched another video explaining it... it's all pretty interesting. It's more of a ceremonial dance than a war dance, and it's really powerful when you read the translated words. :)

  • OMG!

that's impressive, they can shock somebody by doing that, very intimidating in front of you

  • I miss Tana :(

  • on the contrary - they dont yhey dont have anyone that can perform the lead prperly

  • weepu is pretty nuts when he does it..

  • but no one can lead a haka like tha Gear brothers

  • @NgatiPorouEastCoast sorry bro but i think piri weepu is better but the gear brothers are good to

  • @NgatiPorouEastCoast yeah boi!!! Ngati Porou hard

  • think the abs thought the kapa o pango was getting a bit to much commercial with everyone referring it to the "throat slitting haka" when its suppose to be like spreading power through theur internal organs or something.

  • I personally love the Haka, whichever form it takes. I wasn't offended by the throat slitting gesture, I sadly these days get a little disappointed when the All Blacks do the "Ka Mate" Haka which I've been waching for years.

  • no way in hell can anyone do the kapa o pango better than tana umaga
