  • that vet said DONT trust them?! WTF?! i thought they were mans best friend!!!

  • Right! They need to give the dog to someone else rather than kill the poor thing! I dont agree with what he did but still dont think he should be killed!

  • for every alleged dog incident of this type- there are probably dozens of humans whose lives were saved by a dog. I say give the dog the benefit of the doubt, and adopt her out to someone who can provide a better home. Also- who would leave a 3 day old infant alone with any dog? That is NOT enough time to say you trust the dog with the kid based on it's past interaction. Owner at fault, in my opinion, as usual.

  • dog looks like a wolf hybrid, to me.

  • Omg that poor baby!!! (He was) 3 days old and already on death's door. Who knows how it happened but, I guarantee you those parents were hurting bad when they discovered their baby in that condition. I feel for them. I hope the baby survived but, those were some pretty severe injuries and to a newborn no less... Its just so sad.

  • haha to the baby

  • Maybe That's Why You Don't Leave Newborn Babies Unattended, Even Within Your Own Home. Are The Parents Stupid Or Some Shit??

  • This is what I can't stand about other human beings. This was a total lack of parental involvement. Who has a baby, but not a baby monitor?

What? You just put the baby in the crib and say "fuck it"?

This is just another case of a dog being a dog and the community saying "Yes, she was a good dog but we're going to murder it anyway so we can sleep better at night".

  • oh my god thats horrible i thing the dog was jellous

  • lol that dog's all like: I didn't do anything!

  • This dog had motherly instincts.........to punish her by putting her down, is sick. They need to find a home for this poor dog, and not put her down. Who is to say, that the baby might have been crying non stop, and the people were getting ready for their baby shower, ignoring the baby, and the dog came in to take care of him like it was one of her pups? Native American Dogs are very VERY good family dogs. Something here, does NOT sound right to me........

  • The family should have kept a close watch on the baby and the dogs. Also, it's too bad that animals don't speak our language. We would be able to directly ask Dakota what she was planning on doing then. I mean, yes jealousy is an issue, and there are other common ones too in these kinds of cases. But what if Dakota never planned on hurting the baby, but instead was intending to do something else entirely? I guess we'll never know.

  • both the family and the dog made mistake....as the family trusted the dog bcoz he was a member of their family........ as they considered him to be...... but the dog didn't prove his faithfulness which the owners had in him........ but amily must hav taken care of the baby.......Glod bless them all

  • How did the dog take the baby out of the crib without anyone noticing? Poor dog is going to get killed because of negligence from the parents. I also feel sorry for the poor baby , there are two more dogs at home besides this one for the baby to come home to......sad sad sad

  • Why do you say that Dakota is expected to be destroyed you stupid journalist ?! Actually the owner wanted Dakota back to his house and finally accepted to let her be adopted by another family ! Dakota's new family adores her !!!

  • that's why you shut doors so the dog can't get to the kid, parents fault all the way.

  • Shoot the parents, Not the dog!

  • any update about this? did the baby survive?

  • This is very sad story, both for the dog, the baby and the family. But ultimately it is the familys fault for not securing there child. If the dog wanted to kill the child, would have done it. Not wait 20 minutes later! They should not let the dog die, there are options, but unfortunately they take the easy way out! Pets rely on us, to guide them to teach them and to take care of them till they grow old and pass on.This could have been a more positive outcome! Adopt from Local Shelters TY

  • Wonder if the dog even knew it was a little human. Probably thought it was a toy or a delicious treat.

  • The parents are IDIOTS! The babies room door should have been shut in the first place! Now theyre losing thier dog and possibly their child.

  • I'm sorry but what were those parents thinking???

They have to make sure the dogs will be okay with the baby..

In my case, my parents gave a diaper to the dogs.. And ate it all..

If they don't do that, then you might have a problem..

The German Shepherd we had at our home, was there to protect me, when visitors came.. The dog would keep standing between the crib, and the people...

Making sure nothing would happen to me..

  • I hear of this all the time: Dogs in our neighbourhood always sneak into the baby's room, lift it quietly from the cradle, drag them down the stairs fracturing the skull without the baby crying, open the door, get outside and way down into the woods without killing it. Then, the dog gets caught with the baby still alive and are blamed for trying to kill it.

The parents are always shocked that the dog, who is trying to kill it, just doesnt kill it in the same room that it lifted it from the crib

  • This whole story sounds fishy. How did the dog get the baby, take it outside, and hurt the baby, all without the baby crying or the parents noticing? Sounds to me like poor parenting. I have a husky and she loves children. Dakota probably thought the baby was a toy. They need to give the dog away as opposed to killing her. I blame the parent entirely.

  • @jaymers23 The baby was in the cot how did the dog get it? I think its jealousy. Not enoug attension for the dog.

  • @jaymers23 Listen to the type of injuries the baby received: crushed skull, 2 collapsed lungs, broken ribs. With those injuries, I doubt the baby even had the chance to scream and he certainly wouldn't have been able to with collapsed lungs. He may have even been unconscious (let's hope) after the first injury because those are some pretty severe injuries for anyone to deal with but, this was a brand-new baby, only 3 days old. Its amazing he survived long enough to get medical care. Poor baby.

  • I don't blame the family and I sure hope the baby has a speedy recovery. Also, I do hope they find the dog a good home. But honestly, and maybe I'm wrong, but don't you think this case would have been treated differently if this had happened in a poor neighborhood or a black neighborhood? I feel the parents would have been sadly and unjustly facing charges if this occured in a minority or poor neighborhood.

  • PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON'T KILL THIS DOG! He is already locked up in a concrete cell & doesn't understand why he is there. If the dog wanted to kill the baby, he would have done so! PLEASE give him another chance to be the good pet he has always been. My prayers go out to the dog & the infant.

  • dakota looks like a siberian husky.. i hav a dog a siberian husky and she looks like dakota.. but dakota is much bigger looks like a wolf. wat kind of dog was dakota?

  • @kimpee13 She's a Native American Indian Dog, I think.

  • Any dog should not be trusted with a baby but these people didn't do anything that people do every single day. They are devastated and in shock I am sure.

People need to remember that all dogs are animals and instinctual and make sure to take every precaution when dealing with them.\

Native American Indian dogs are NOT part wolf by the way.

  • hmm seems a little fishy.. but u never know it cud have been the dog.. buttttttt who knows

  • Not the dogs fault. If you care, please email or call Jessamine county shelter and urge them to not kill the dog but instead to place her in a responsible home or sanctuary. Even the father says she was treating the infant like a puppy. Glad the baby is going to be ok, but it's a shame the dog has to pay with the parents negligence with her life.

  • i guess infants dont cry now? the parents are idiots and should have been better prepared. you had 8 months assholes. i hope somebody adopts this doggg

  • I want to know what kind of dog it is.

  • My Siberian Husky looks exactly like her, Circles around the eyes and the brown/tan coat. She might be a half breed Husky/Wolf. I was looking into getting one but in doing research i read that they have issues similar to hers. To bad, shes a beautiful dog.

  • Hmm so it's half wolf. Those half wolf/huskies can get pretty big?

  • pretty big, Buddy of mine has an uncle with a full blood wolf, shes very big. About the size of the very large German Shepard.

  • Those parents should have their baby taken away from them, how disgusting that they leave a child on it's own in a room with an animal.

Yes pets are part of the family, but they are also animals and it's not fair to put that kind of temptation in it's way and then destroy it when things go wrong because of your mistake.

Call social services on these morons.

  • the baby snatcher isn't a husky!! It's a wolf. That is the parent's fault!!

  • you know what i dont blame the dog at all. i blame the parents. it was there fault. they should've kept an eye on the baby and not leave it un supervised. who in the right mind would do that. now that poor dog is being put to down because of the parents fault.

  • Poor kid. Poor dog. The parents should have kept a watch on their kid. That's right. I blame the parents.

  • fuck the baby, poor dog!

  • I don't know but don't you have a baby shower before the baby is born? So they put the baby down and in a "FEW" minutes the dog had the baby made it out the house and 150 yards down the road. Wow that one fast dog. Don't you think that vet was a little to happy to be on tv?

  • who gives a shit about the baby send the baby to a animal shelter dogs deserve better!

  • It's their fault for having a wolf hybrid around there baby.... am I really suppose to feel bad for someone who was being so carelessly stupid. You can't trust a wild animal to be around your defenseless newborn! People can be idiots! Quit making huskies look bad and leave the wild predators in the wild. PLEASE for the sake of humanity!

  • Dog must be destroyed.

  • it aint the dogs fault. the parents shuoldve kept an eye on the baby in the first place. especially a 4 day old one. at would a right mnd would leave a baby unatended. i dont blame the dog at all its the parents who must be blamed

  • Sorry but have to agree with larrywalkertbi. Police should still investigate the case further cause they should of never left the dog inside with the baby. I have dogs and they stay outside and are never allowed around children without supervision even though they've never showed aggression toward them. I love my dogs and though they are part of the family they are still animals, people should remember this and stop treating them like humans.

  • correct but by child you should mean new borns i have a dog but uh well its an italian greyhound mixed with german sheperd so its scared of everything but still my point is if you leave a baby and a dog at least have supervision so ya

  • New borns and children is what I meant. Small children can still be easily scared into running from a dog and the dog will chase and tackle him/her and could possibly even bite them. The dog might just do this playfully but the child could easily be injured by this. Also a child's life is more important than that of any animal and though the owners were at fault here, the dog still hurt a baby and must be put down.

  • the dog as a female may have just heard the baby crying and and tried to protect it like a mother would her puppies

  • yes but a mother protecting her puppies does not fracture the puppy skulls, puncture 2 lungs and more.

If she was treating t6he baby as a puppy it would have only puncturr wounds by the kneck and not damage to the entire body

  • human babies =/= wolf puppies

  • valid point but a human baby is larger and bulkier than a puppy so the dog may have been biting down harder to keep from dropping the kid.

  • If the dog was dragging the baby possible down stairs, this would have fractured the skull. Being that dogs don't have hands, they use their mouths as such. Also a baby weighs much more than a puppy so the dog could not have lifted the baby. Who knows what really happened? Dogs are blamed for many things that people do.

  • People keep saying that they shouldn't put the dog down, but once a dog in any way attacks a human once, it is very likely to happen again from the same dog. This isn't a death row case, this is a dog that could threaten human beings, end of story. Put it down and move on with life. I hope the kid is okay.

  • This is bizarre, I never heard of a dog which did anything like this.

  • I think this was a jealousy issue, the parents more than likely didn't introduce the baby and dog. To the dog, the baby was an intruder. Who knows. I blame the parents.

  • omg if they kill it i'll start a fucking potison thats so wrong its a dog beware come on keep ur kid away god!! I'll adopt it :(

  • WTF... I blame the parents for this!!!!! Don't they know you should never, never, never leave a dog alone with young children. Who knows why and if the dog dragged the baby into the woods. It could have been for protection purposes also. If the dog wanted to kill the baby, it wouldn't have drag it into the woods. And no one heard this? How did the dog open the door? People have to realize that dogs don't think they are people. They think people are dogs.

  • That's a pretty dog. I'm sure someone would take it in if they'd allow it.

  • Don't destroy the dog! We give many people a second chance why not this poor dog?

  • what the hell! what if the parents or someone in the family did that..? just because THEY said the dog did it, we believe them?? besides, even if the dog did do it, it was still the fault of the parents due to their own negligence and lack of attentiveness.

  • I think you'd notice the teeth marks...

  • I feel sorry for the dog. The dog and the baby were obviously unsupervised and the dog does not deserve to be put down.

  • The dog owners are responsible for their dogs which means that the parents are legally responsible for what happened as sad as it is, but my heart goes out to them. They obviously miscalculated their dog.

Talk about this to your dog-onwer-friends and prevent it from happening again.

  • How the hell could the parents not hear the baby crying. There is no way in hell the baby didn't make a sound during all this.

  • aww...

    maybe it wasnt the dog...

and maybe it was but for a good reason?

you'll never know since dogs can't speak to humans

  • poor dog

  • Poor dog? Dogs are smarter than you think. Im pretty sure They Know right from wrong When it comes to something like that. how about poor baby!

  • the dog treated the baby as if it was a puppy.

yeah they are smart but they can also make mistakes.

  • No they dont dogs can confuse humans with puppys .

  • doesnt deserve death the baby isnt even dead

  • Comment removed

  • Wait a minute, How does a dog jump into the crib and drag a newborn baby out of the crib and out of the house with it making a sound?...Where the hell were the parents...Something sounds way to fishy here....Who opened the door for the dog...If some kind of foul play is found here I would call for the death penalty for the parents...I'm just saying.....

  • cops are stupid WAT CHARGES CAN BE HANDED TO

    THA DOG!

    TISS SMH

  • I think the dog may have been trying to "mother" the baby. I don't think she intended harm.

  • ....give me the dog she wont touch my lil bro he almost kille my cat by smacking it on the head btw he only 8 months old ^^

  • I don't understand how the baby was dragged out the home and never cried.A 3 day old baby should have made some type of noise being pulled out the crib and probably down some stairs and never made a sound.

  • Ugh...

This one doesn't look full blooded Husky or Malamute.

Mixed breeds can be more unpredictable.

    But...

She is right about the jealousy issues w/ pets at times.

Sad... I hope all turns out well.

  • I thought it was pure breds that tended to have behavior problems

  • Poor baby, those Husky/Malamute kind of dogs seem to take a really unhealthy interest in babies. I never trusted my partners family husky. She was a nice enough dog, but her behaviour was strange around my daughter. They all said she was trying to mother her. I didn't think so but.

  • tulipchic34-

    True...

Had a full blooded husky male for 12 Years whom was playful and at times too playful.

    That's their temperament.

    Scary to most though.

    Ugh...

    This is a sad situation.

    Hoping for the best.

  • Oh how terrible! But I don't think they should kill the dog either! Solving violence with violence is not the answer! Maybe putting him through behavioral therapy or something would be a more appropriate action.

  • please forgive me, but i might have missed the sarcasm, you were joking right?

  • No, I wasn't.

Obviously since the dog was fine with the other children, there's an underlining behavioral problem or some other issue involved here.

I believe that more investigation, etc, should ensue before they decide to put the dog to death. It would be as if someone robbing a bank in modern times and shooting someone were put to death without a proper trial.

  • ...but dogs aren't people.

  • That doesn't mean anything.

  • You're confused...

It means that unpredictable is unpredictable and over playful is over playful.

  • AHHH AHHH A DINGO'S GOT MY BAYBEE!

  • see world, michael vick wasnt ALL bad.

  • oh my god. thats why i never pet dogs.

  • oh geesz, you are way off here..........helllooo you are not even on the same subject

  • i dont like dogs.. dont you get it? helloooo

  • What a horrible story.... From the title of the video... I thought this was a video about the dog saving a baby from a burning house or something... :-(

  • ommg, i love dogs but thats just mean! it should be put to sleep if it does something like this

  • you should be put to sleep you fuckin retard

  • i love u

  • prepare for the uprising of the dogs. lock and load

  • where is chuck norris when you need him!! lol

  • too busy punching kittens.

  • oh the poor baby

  • How tall is that dog or how short was that crib...so what are we all suppose to be afraid of dogs because someone isn't watching there kid.

  • idiot

  • looks like a lovely dog, i'll take it.

can't blame it for trying to eat something like looks a big chicken.

  • it is lovely, it has "issues" hello, what part of this don't you get??????????? Good God....... it about killed a baby. get with it. what is your emotional IQ?

  • high enough to know that french kissing some ass-licking dog isn't smart.

    unlike you. LOL!

also high enough to know that it's not an "issue" for a dog to try & eat a baby, it's a fucking animal, that's what it's supposed to do.

the morons who don't realize that are the ones with the "issues".
