The thing about geometry proofs is that you have to supply something that's missing. They can be rather obscure at times. It helps if you can process information visually and have lots of imagination.
i feel ya on being fully grown and still known as the "baby". I'm the youngest of ten and although I'm thirty-two, my family can't get it into their heads that I'm fully mature LOL
Being in the sticks of NH I learned to drive on a tractor and a old car with a three shift on the column so I can appreciate the difficulty with not knowing. Wow you ARE an old fart! :) Hated geometry in HS but ended up tutoring it in Alaska to middle school students. I LOVED it as an adult, go figure.
I knew you were an old fart, like me, but I didn't realize you were THAT much of an old fart. :) You know I'm messin' with ya. My time will come, sooner then I think.
funny idea, the tagging. driving a stick shift is a lot easier than it looks.. best to just jump in a car and do it and lurch for a while down the highway till you get it.. i had to drive a stick shift on the other side of the car on the other side of the road last trip to the UK, and as you can see, i lived... its not too late to try tom..
Driver's liscence? I never had one for any vehicle. I can operate just about any land, air or sea craft (small one with a driver) and ironically I have the hardest time with land crafts. I do best with aircrafts and I am afraid of heights. I have some damage to my visual cortex (brain) so getting a liscence in any form of driving (or piloting) is an uphill battle.
Wow, that brain damage and vehicle operation info is interesting. I'm an excellent land driver (of automatic transmission vehicles, that is) but not all that great with things on water.
Doc, with you, that's a given. Yeah, me and my buddies also went down to stand outside their hotel during their first visit to the US for the Ed Sullivan Show. Only saw the hotel, but it was great to say, "I was there." Did the same when Castro came to Harlem!
Fun facts Tom. And I don't feel bad for you that you got to go to the "sucky" Beatles concert at Shea Stadium. Poor guy. That must have been rough. LOL.
BTW, I like your Rorschach test icon. I think I see David Hasselhoff. What does that mean?
At least you saw the Beatles in concert. The nearest I got was to marry somebody who had been to one!(p.s. that wasn't a qualification for marriage to me by the way, it was just a bonus - reflected glory and all that stuff.)
And she's reminded me that she went to 2 concerts not one! One at the Finsbury Park Empire and the other at the Odeon Hammersmith. Heady stuff! And all that was over forty years ago, what a memory!
Bummer - you had to see the crappy 1966 Beatles concert. Not many folks would be pissed off about that! hahhaa
I was supposed to see them in '64 at the Hollywood bowl but my aunt decided my brother and I were far too young for that rock n' roll business so we were whisked away to Disneyland instead. :(
Thanks for sharing! I know how you feel about the concert thing. Not that it was a band as big as the Beatles, but I also missed out on "the best ever!" concert of one of my favourite bands in lieu of some later ones. Argh.
I had the same problem with geometry. just barely passed. And im the youngest too but only by 8, 12 and 14 years all brothers. it was like having 3 extra fathers. but anyway... hey not everyone has been tagged.. like myself... not well known enough i guess..
Can I do a re-tag? See, that's the problem, there are so many of us who don't really know one another well enough to do something like tagging them. I'm adding you as a new tagee in my description!
actually i'll probably never get around to making a video.. but here are 5 random things about me... 1. MA in Archaeology. 2 I collect skulls... real ones. not of people though haha. 3. I hate ice cream 4. I have broken all of my toes. I am unable to whistle.
I think you're the second person I've seen who gave "don't drive standard transmission" as one of your 5 facts. (Don't recall now who the other one was.) I wouldn't be surprised if it's true of a majority of the people on YouTube, since most aren't old enough for it to be unusual. (Also true of me BTW, from a sort of intermediate cohort.)
It will be interesting to watch the others respond to the 5 questions. Don't worry about the geometry, Tom - as you know "your career didn't need it".
P.S. - Punctuation was my failure, among other things, so I just started inventing it on the "fly". :)
Maybe you could share some secrets about yourself too or maybe you could talk about things you've done which you're not proud of, but anyway, thanks for sharing it with us.
So, this was kind of sweet. Did the rules state that you had to tell your secrets, or just your unknowns?

One fact about me: I have a nervous fear of thunderstorms, even when I am indoors. Something about the sound of loud thunder that un-nerves me.

Yes...a scary fact knowing my parents.

What was the difference between the '65 and '66 shows?
Would have liked to have seen the Beatles, period.
ghostwise 4 years ago
Watch this YT video v=_mUXwnEWEnE to get the feel for the '65 show. Nothing like that excitement in '66.
tlg847 4 years ago
Thanks for the link! I wasn't sure if '65 was that memorable show.. but yeah, no wonder you feel some regret at not being at the inaugural show.
Small consolation but was the '66 at least a little quieter? Could you hear the music?

Actually, hearing the music was the ONLY benefit people talked about!

I haven't heard it called a "standard" transmission for many years. These days automatic is standard and "manual" is an option.
I can relate to still being "the baby" of the family.
I'll do my answers later today, before I get tagged a fifth time.
kenrg 4 years ago
Didn't occur to me that "standard" had changed meanings...hang around long enough and your entire vocabulary becomes outdated!
