The Devastation of Katrina in New Orleans

Hi there friend, I was referring to the lyrics of the song that accompanies the images, those that "praise a god who gives and takes away". Anyway, what has God got to do with people chipping in and helping out each other? Some may wish to help it from a religious ethic, but I reckon the impulse toward human solidarity is what's really behind people mucking in when there's a crisis afoot. Praising a god for "taking away" your house seems a little beyond the pale to me.

What is interesting is that "You give and take away" verse in the bible is not doctrine, it is taken from the book of Job, where several men were debating and it is obvious they did not have clue, and at the end of the book God rebukes all of them. So I don't think it may be a good thing to sing either! I think because we live in a effed up world, crap happens, but God works in the mist of it bringing forth good. Thanks for the comments. I think its rather disgusting for one to praise an individual for death and destruction. I'm talking about your YHWH god, that enjoys the punishment of the innocent as well of the so-called guilty, example - homosexuals. Much love from the

I don't think God caused Katrina, I think it was a result of the laws of nature and we were in the wrong place at the wrong time. What I find beautiful, is that God now is making it possible for to help bringing restoration, we clean out peoples houses and serve and love people. God did not cause the storm, and yet He is making beauty from ashes, doing good in the mist of the devastation. Without Him there would be nothing but death and hopelessness
