  • who captured this POW i want to meet him.

  • Great game, I still have it in my basement with the original box & manual.

  • 20 years laters, I finally realise I inserted a whole lot of coins in this game...

  • This was good but the real version, the arcade was better. Game play was more challenging. At first, the beginner will be thrown off thinking it's just like Double Dragon. Wrong!! The format is the same but most guys get killed with one hit or 5. Your energy bar has 3 to 5. Jump kick is the only way to get yourself out of a bind. Punch when cautious. Kick to terminate. Use machine gun to turn the tides. This game was tight especially with co-op play.

  • What the fuck? i never knew you could machine gun the chopper. i thought you had use the grenades.

  • Thank god, one of the first playthroughs where you actually destroy the helicopter with a machine gun. I use to do it all the time and I was looking through playthroughs and no one else does it but you guys. Nice job.

  • I remember this being alot harder when I was a kid.. Mainly cuz I wanted to back fist everyone.

  • Haven't seen this in ages!

  • pow for mame is much better

  • This game has an awesome bgm. Case in point: The 1st stage's bgm and the 2nd stage boss bgm for example.

  • 2:57 I love it how the enemies in the game try to dodge the gunfire, but still end up getting hit anyway.

  • do you think the people fly far enough when they die? LOL yeah only 20 feet

  • This was good but Ikari III was better

  • CONGRATURATION

  • good shit

  • I was able to beat this game as kid without cheating, but my god, was this game frustrating at times.

  • I've found my NES brother. I beat this game 20+ times.

  • lol i remember this game.

the first stage kinda reminds me of metal gear solid. when u go up the tower to fight a Hind D helicopter :D

  • Great game, and better than Double Dragon, in my opinion.

SNK games always had crazy explosions. I think Guerilla War is still tops in that department.

  • Doot Doot DOOOSHHHH

  • Congraturation!

  • GOD! I LOVE THE MUSIC! Got it for my emulator! Gonna be playing it!

  • i was 11 year old when i used to play that game in video shop. i was the only guy who complete the game with one token in my town. i had a craze for that game . it was very difficult . there were no bosses in that version.

    memories

    from pakistan

  • Three words: Best NES Ever

  • Man I remember this game was so damn hard, I never got past stage 3

  • I got a game shark and went all the way through it. haha

  • hahaha good job..glad that you learned how to cheat when you were 5 years old! A corrupted guy was in the making!

  • Game Shark for NES? You meant Game Genie

  • I have mine still, and the original manual/code book. :D

  • prison break.....

  • I could never beat the second boss (guy that drops grenades) and you just made him look like a pussy. I only played the game a few times though, and I was king in the arcade version :)

  • Good stuff, mercisan, the arcade game owned my ass a kid the first time I played it :).

It was so different from the NES version, so I did't stick around to play through it. There are hardly any true boss battles in that game either.

Yeah, Don James is pretty tough at first, but once you jump kick over his bullets and take the fight to him, he's an absolute joke.

  • My god this game takes me back.

  • the song on stage 2 is the shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • No way man! Stage one.

  • when I was a kid the grenades reminded me of CornNuts for some reason.

  • In the sequel, the nameless POW from this game should run for president and fight ninjas on the streets of DC while wearing a business suit.

  • this game was awsome i only beat it with game genie!!

  • Don't you guys think that the chopper at the end of level one looks like the Tomahawk from GI Joe. Remember the one Lift Ticket flew? I always thought that. I know, I'm a nerd. Girls don't want to have sex with me.

  • There's a girl for every geek, trust me I know. :)

  • I miss the NES games how are you guys able to play these things. Are there consoles out or something that can be bougth new again?

  • The console I assume was rented from the store Daniel T works at, unless he happens to own a console. However, there are companies who have made reproductions of the NES system.

  • Like shincyriades mentioned, there are bootleg NES consoles around, unforgivn82. In my case I have a copy of the original NES console. They continue to be sold at game shops as well as online to this very day.

Finding a brand new NES would be tough though. Never underestimate the staying power of a used console though, they can last quite a while, as long as they are properly maintained. So find an NES if you can, kick back, and enjoy some classic gaming!

  • I still have mine..I may need to hold a game down with another game to make it work...thus after blowing in the game I want to play...lol

  • sweet, awesome speedrun!

  • I'm glad that you appreciate the speedrun, rogelioVela1985 :)

  • This is one of the few games I liked the home port over the Arcade. That boss music is awesome.

  • this game was the shit. I remember getting this game and baseball stars for XMAS and loved it! underrated game good find man

  • Hi,i´m from Brazil, this game was fantastic!! I saw a lot of games that you played here!! I would like to know how can i get this games for my PC!! POW, Double Dragon, Mega Man, etc!! Thanks!!

  • If you mean emulation, plenty of options may be found via search engines.

  • Yes. KICK ASS

  • Yes I agree. SNK should certainly go back and make a sequel to not only this game, but Crystalis as well!

  • i remember playing this as a child, it was alot of fun back then AND it still looks fun, SNK is such a good company

  • i like stage 2s music

  • Oh yeah, definitely good tunes in this game ^_^

  • dude, i didn't pass stage 1... I sucked.

    thanks for the vids, man.

  • No probs! If you ever play the game again, I am sure you will do fine :)

  • omg i remember spending lots of time on this

  • Yes, definitely. I love SNK in general, and I've always hoped for some kind of sequel or followup to this game. Although, Metal Slug is fun and interesting enough in its own regard!

  • One of the coolest games of all time.

  • aww Man, the memories, I absolutely loved this game when I was young, I love the music from the first level

  • I'm glad that you feel the same way, ShatteredSoulja!

P.O.W. is one of my all-time favorite video games. I just love the kick ass atmosphere (aided by the music naturally).

I even dressed up as the game's hero, Bart, for Halloween in 1991, but nobody knew who the heck I was lol. I still felt pretty cool regardless :).

  • i have the NES version, and there are some iPod worthy tunes in that game. i hope that SNK/Playmore releases P.O.W. as a virtual console game (along with guerilla war, and crystalis)

  • interesting. i thought you could only defeat the hind chopper with hand grenades.

  • im pretty sure it's some sort of exploit..

  • true. it didn't mention that it was a tool assisted run

  • No this isn't a tool assisted run, figment1988. The chopper can be defeated with either bullets or grenades.

I recorded this on an actual NES without the use of any cheat codes and while using a regular controller.

  • hmm. maybe i should try it out

  • Yes you should, it works like a charm, trust me :).
