  • @ohann14 it isnt back lit. So you will need a light for it

  • How does it do in the dark. does it have a back-light or will i need a light source to read with it?

  • So......thatsnazzyiphoneguy are you giving your old one away? :) cus I would love it :D

  • I would love this but oh well...needa save up on stuff :)

  • I Getting it For Xmas

  • i want one but we do not have these in canada

  • Hello! i'm interested in this device! Please tell me does it supports Cyrillic script letters and formats .txt .doc .rtf ??? (on web-site are written only epub pdf) ?

  • i just ordered mine yesterday!! <3

  • Oh yeah and almost forgot... As for being able to add any book on the Nook? You can do the samething with the Kindle LOL Just use a simple program called Callibre and it takes 1 minute to convert any book whatever format it's in say Epub, TXT, PDF, you name it, and it can be converted to Mobi for the Kindle...

  • Ok here's the thing guys... If you want to listen to a audio book you can't because of the no headphone jack... At least the original Nook had that. And the Price? 139.99? and it's only Wi Fi? You can get a Kindle 3 3G with special offers for that price LOL and the Wi Fi version for 114.99... Sorry guys but this Nook looks like a downgrade compared to the original Nook and Nook Color. They have more features. Oh and the touchscreen doesn't look that resonsive either

  • the only reason why you would need 3g is for if you were a traveling businessman or whatever.

  • Just ordered my first e-reader, the Nook!

Sure, e-readers are not as fancy as computers, but I don't want a back-lit device like the iPad, because I will be reading at night before bed. Looking at a bright screen is not conducive to sleep and wrecks my circadian rhythm.

  • This is the best video about the Nook, Thank you!

  • Haha "Classical way of turning pages" I know what you mean,it's just ironic thinking back when we actually turned our pages.

  • The built-in memory is not 2 gigs as stated in the video here. In fact, the built-in memory is 236 MB. There is no documentation which describes built-in memory. It is a detail which is left to be discovered when the device is in hand.

  • @PapaEJangles Yes it is... If I have a SD card removed, and just the internal memory, when I view capacity space in settings, as well as plugging it into my computer, it displays as a 2GB drive. The SD card is expandable to 16GB. I think you're talking about the RAM which is 256 MB.

  • @ThatSnazzyiPhoneGuy Thanks for the reply. I think there may have been a different configuration on your device. I realize this may not seem likely, but I just triple-checked my device and indeed it has 236 MB available storage (not system RAM). I tested this with and without an expansion SD mounted. The device I have reports them as distinct / separate drives.

  • you started sounding country around the 2:25 or it may just be when you say 'Device', anyway thanks

  • @Lazykyosuke I'm about as city boy as one can be. Haha.

  • its running Android :)

  • THAT'S WHAT QUINN SAID ;P

  • Sick! Too bad I don't read books that often :/

  • You need to stop trying to talk like the guy from CNET Reviews: Dan Ackerman... Find you own style buddy. Other than that, it was a So-So review. Thanks...

  • @registrationsucks I talk like myself. I have done videos like this for two years. I don't even know who Dan Ackerman is. And it was a so-so review because it wasn't a review. It was a hands on, initial impressions unboxing video. Read the title.

  • @ThatSnazzyiPhoneGuy Wow! There are a lot of trolls on this video. I thought this was a very informative review. Thumbs up from me. I don't know what's wrong with everyone else.

  • @SuperAdviceMan They're just stupid and don't understand that the nook is a book reader and not a tablet.

  • @ThatSnazzyiPhoneGuy =/ Seriously....

  • @ThatSnazzyiPhoneGuy Except you had already opened it, so it's not really an "initial" anything. And you have been doing videos like this for a WHOLE 2 years? Well, aren't you the innovator... Again, stop playing dumb and find your own style buddy. It was So-So "whatever you wanna call it". Thanks...

  • can't tell whether or not you're being trolled by these people. since when did reading a novel require color? or a net browser for that matter. I wonder if these same people complain about the ipod shuffle's lack of app support. this is a device for reading books. and the best one on the market so far for that. that being said, I am a huge magazine junky, so if kindle or nook ever came out with something for magazines and comics using a color e-ink screen. I'll be first in line to buy.

  • They copied the iPads basic look

  • i heard that the kindle will read the book too you can the nook do that?

  • OMG THIS SUCKS.... Look at the screen... why does it flash like that??

  • @paroutdiok Because it's an e-ink display... Google it. OMG YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT A BOOK READER IS...

  • lol, this is your favorite toy isn't it?

  • Hey Good Review man im planning on buying one but can you show how a manga or a comic looks on the nook, thanks....

  • Can wait to jailbreak my iPad2 already....

  • Oh. Ok. I thought the nook color was just a reader too. I heard it got a big update lately which enabled it to surf the net. Neither really sound worth getting unless your a dedicated book reader. But I still think this is better than the kindle. Thanks for the video bro. ;)

  • Even without rooting the nook color, you can still browse the web. The nook you are showing isn't very popular.

  • @greend614 The nook I am showing is a book reader. The nook color is a tablet with book reading capabilities. Not the same thing.

  • @greend614 it isn't popular because, it came out recently

  • @greend614 Well, the Nook Color is more of a tablet than an e-book reader. This Nook was buit for reading ONLY! It's doing what the Nook Color FAILED to do!

  • No color nook??? I heard once you "root" a Nook Color, it's a fully working Android tablet. You can install apps and games from the marketplace.

  • @greend614 One is a tablet, one reads books. The nook color has an LED screen rather than an e-ink display.

  • @ThatSnazzyiPhoneGuy I want a tablet that reads books but i don't want a iPad 2 like all my friends are saying (i already have the original iPad) so kindle or nook?

  • @ThatSnazzyiPhoneGuy Actually the Nook Color has an LCD display.

  • @greend614 You don't even have to root it anymore. It was in the software update.

  • Nice review and hands on, very interesting

  • Actually you are severely limited in the amount of content you can side-load on the internal storage and it only reads epubs and pdfs

  • You do realize the space available for side loading content is severely limited?

  • how does this compare to the nook color

  • @thekingcuber The eink screen only draws power when it updates what on the screen and it doesn't have a backlight making it much easier on the eyes for long reading sessions and increases battery life so you can have those long reading sessions.

  • good job for the review. I saw your iphone was transparent,. Thats so cool. How did you do that?

  • i shouldnt have gotten the regular nook so quickly! i should have waited a few months and get something that is cheaper and lighter smaller and better than the original nook. :(

  • just a little side note this is not a touch screen device that we all are use to this uses infrared technology on the page turning buttons and the screen.

  • It is $139

  • Without a doubt an impressive ebook reader... However I still prefer my Kindle 3G over it for various reasons. I don't see how 4GB isn't one's fill for space though? I suppose if you put your songs on it I could see the benefits for 32 gigs, but be realistic, are you ever going to be reading anything near 3,500 books? I think not. Not to mention the Kindle's bookstore is massive, more so than the nook's :)

    Just my 2 cents.

  • I almost want to sell my nook color for this!

  • You missed the NookColor (which could be rooted to make it into a full tablet)

  • Yes the device is impressive, but Amazon has the most books to choose from out of anybody else. Huge selling point.

  • Hi Quinn! Do you know where I can download some 320Kbps music to enjoy my Beats Pro at better qualityÉ

  • Kindle can read files like e-pub with an application I believe is called Caliber. I bought the Kindle 3 and I don't regret buying it since it has 3G and the UI is very simple. New Nook looks great too though. Thanks for the vid Quinn!

  • God, that hands on was impressive. Nice job. Looks like a solid product

  • You pretty much rock. Keep reviewing because I feel so up to date with technology because of you!

  • אתה מדהים!!

  • @MrSnazzyness Quinn has a video explaining how to be a good youtuber.

  • Quin i just really want to know how i can become a good youtube tech reviewer and also once that is done how i wil be able to get companys to send me items for review and also how i can become a youtube partener. Thanks

PS: Great vids! (Also @luislemus2727 you are a fin mother effer fo go ef off)

  • Thanks, I was waiting for a video on this product. Any recommendations for an e-reader (Kindle 3 or Nook Touch)? Also, sorry for the double comment, but the website says it is $139. Did you use some sort of promotion?

  • Thanks, I was waiting for a video on this product. Any recommendations for an e-reader (Kindle 3 or Nook Touch)?

  • And also... come to the UK Barnes & Noble! I want a nook! But just don't end up like Borders. I liked Borders, very nice shops, very nice environment, but they had to close... sad really.

  • I don't understand why you keep getting negative votes, I love your videos Quinn! :)

  • ipad pwns these noobs

  • great vid Quinn

  • Quinn, would you be able to install other software on the device? For example ios, windows 7 etc.

  • Comment removed

  • I like my Kindle's interface better, but the size of that device is nice. When it doesn't refresh the page, does the ink ghost on the page? I hate that on my kindle. :-/

  • I thought Quinn was gone being indoctrinated into religious camp, or going on vacation?

  • It's funny that the white one is larger than the black one

  • @arsalon12 No it's not...that's stupid.

  • 4:40 to 4:47. Is a that's what she said moment

  • quinn, if you havent had a kindle 3 ( i dont know if you have or not) you shouldnt say the nook is better... cause you dont know what its like!

  • Quinn and when I click on the link it is 139?

  • @luislemus2727 I'm a little confused, cause it turns out I only speak English (bizarre, eh). How does this compare to an iPad? Did I ever say that it did? I said it's a unitasking book reader that is capable of reading books (and only that) more efficiently and effectively than an iPad. I still own an iPhone, I still own a Mac (7 actually), and I'm still a huge Apple fanboy. The iPad 2 is amazing (by far the best tablet); however, this is better at reading books. Make sense?

  • @ThatSnazzyiPhoneGuy quinn btw, what do you think about the android tablets?

  • @ThatSnazzyiPhoneGuy why would you even respond to that person? clearly he's a bit mentally unfit.

  • @luislemus2727 wtf? learn to spell...

  • @luislemus2727 your such a douche.

  • Sound the death rattle as iPad wanna be's kill these in power vs price

  • I know this is probably a dumb question Quinn but I am new to e-readers and have never used one. Can you read on it in the dark? Specifically this new Nook I mean. Or do you have to treat it like a normal book and have an external light source? Thanks if you answer this.

  • not apple, not buying!!

  • @cyrusXmods fanboy.... you do know that ibook is the worst bookstore

  • @kazora1001 i know im a fanboy I thought I was being quit clear with my comment. Bt i do not read so i dont care about electronic readers. I just love apple ease of use and marketplace.

  • I use the iPads iBooks :3

  • subscribed

  • Nice work Quinn :D

  • But will it blend?

  • @yauman22 maybe

  • 4:40 thats what she said

  • @Bloodburst3 LOL

  • True fans leave meaningful comments, not brag about the video quality that they saw. Very nice video Quinn, but you're mistaken- the Kindle 3 can sideload as well- albeit not in ePub. But it's easy to do.

  • Congratu-fucking-lations to the people who were first/watched in 240p/are true fans before 300 views. Nobody cares. On a different note, solid video Quinn.
