Hi from K.M.Lo, thanks for your comment, i think my intention is simple, not showing being smart or stupid, but reflect the lives of few homeless in Japan. It's too bad that i was born in Hong Kong and i only know English and Chinese, and some Thai. If you re native speaker of other language, pls volunteer to do voice over, make more people understand this documentary.
@halocekicksass It's to make you feel double good. They might produce a luxury edition to make you feel triple good about yourself, paying a premium to watch misery:)
yes...Japanese homeless people never beg someone.Because they are too gentle or shy to beg stranger.
besides, Japanese ordinary people are so heartless that no one care about them at all even though they are passing near by them on the street. So,Most people who help homeless are foreign christians or left activists.
I think Japanese goverment should save them immediately, because such a long economic depression is obviously goverment's fault.
You re right, the governement actually have sufficient welfare system at 65 yrs old or above, but local welfare office usually demand a fixed address or the homeless must return to their origin registered region to get welfare. since the quake and tsunami , i think the previus homeless community becomes insignificant and the temporary refugees might have a better understand of their own ignorance to the homeless, once you become one of them , you know how they feel.

There are people like the last man featured in the video that have plenty money in stocks but refuse to cash them out they would rather sleep homeless than change that aspect of their life. They have spent their life building that portfolio and never considered that it is there for them to liquidate some day and use the money for their retirement. Financial hoarder many people are financial hoarders never spending any of their funds.
@xmikeox Was an OTR Trucker met a man that had over $9million in his 401K. To a normal person working a blue collar job like that they would cash in and take the 20% hit sure you loose some millions but you are still a self made mutimilliionaire this was pre dot com bubble. Trucking is no easy life you are on the road seleeping in a truck town to town no one for you. It could be classified as legalized homelessness It was where I was homeless and was able to save $10K in less than a year.
@xmikeox I am a person that realizes that we need so little to survive if we have health. When I watch what the masses are brainwashed into believing what they (want) need how people will kill themselves when their brain tells them that it would less painful to pass away than to exist without life as they know it. I am conducting an experiment I purchased a camper and solarpanels with it I am betting you could live wealthier than the majority of the pre cheap oil man has.
@cdltpx Currently I have a battery and a $150 solar panel setup tonight is the first time I run the system all night and last I checked the light was burning bright. This means for under $200 you coul have a system to produce small amounts of AC power via inverter use it to recharge your electric bike. The electric bike is next on the experiment a way to travel 12 miles a day round with the aid of an electric motor. A solar hybrid that requires little maintence and some pedal assist.
@cdltpx I want to find another power source for this bike to add range ideally an alcohol fired engine would do since we can produce our own alcohol for this using a biomass such as grass and over ripe fruit. That is much later down the line but I will probably add a small gas motor to the bike and use it to collect metal and go fishing with and my sources of income and food. Look into my favorites you will not be disapointed I have solutions to prevent or enhance homelessness if you are there.
@xmikeox Look in my favorites I have hundreds of ideas that can assist one that is rebuilding their life. I concentrate on SOLUTIONS that cut out the middle man. I for one have not had anyone cut my hair for almost 10yrs now I do it myself I can cut my own hair in less the time for a woman to put on makeup. I not only save $ on the cut but have saved hundreds of hours driving to sitting and waiting for a man to cut my hair and take my money. The latest saver methane productuin using cows&scraps

The Japanese engaged in trade that clearly was unfair to America and drove many Americans out of good jobs. I have no sympathy for the Japanese today. At least they still manufacture cars, electronics, and other paraphernalia. Unlike America which can't do jack shit.
@laalfombra221 Yes, 20 times worse and HOMEGROWN. As it seems America has build its living standard by piling up obscene amounts of debt which it has to pay at some point.
It is so ignorant of you to blame the Japanese for that. A tragedy remains a tragedy, be it in America or in Japan.
I agree with miles2057. The documentaries you carry on your website are fantastic. But is there away you can generate revenue by inserting ads. I would gladly sit through a few minutes of ads to watch these great docs.
wow awesome man i am gonna cry in my countri there are people that have homes money all and steal bagging cose it is easy for them to get money this way
and this man refus to ask people for many for his pride what a world
@Klazyo japan have tremendous pride.Even in anything and whatever they do.I watched a gameshow once where this american was asked to sweep at a train station and she grumbled and didnt want to do it but the japanese did it and did it with pride and perfection like it was his house. When i went there, it was just amazing ive never seen such a bunch of great people.
@tybash Might want to check out the population figures vs the area, then it's no longer a surprise. People need to stick to fucking and spawning less if they know what's good for them.
In a capitalist system, homeless, or more correctly the unemployed, are a necessity. I'm not against capitalism in any way, nor am I a communist or an anarchist. Surplus labor, or redundancy of labor makes labor a commodity that can be bought and sold like anything else, and although the economics are a little more complex than what I'm saying, unemployment keeps the cost of labor down.
JCP is only independent political party in Japan that fights for the interests of ordinary people. May the Japanese people triumph over the evils of capitalist greed, exploitation, and oppression.
Say no to capitalist stagnation, failure, inequality, and misery !
May the honorable workers of Japan unite! Victory to the working peoples of Japan, and all around the world ! Down with the neo-liberal capitalist order.
It's a real shame that we are now resorted to purchasing or renting these great documentaries, if we want to view them. What happened to all the good freely accessible documentaries here on Journeyman Pictures? This is why I subscribed. I am upset that this is the new trend with this channel. Isn't the revenue from the advertisements enough? I love documentaries but I'm in no position where I'm able to afford them, that is why I came here. I don't want to be driven away, I'm sure others agree.
@miles2057 Hah, I agree. I subbed this after watching several full-length videos on this channel.. I haven't really seen a complete one for a while now :/ Everything they upload is pay-to-watch now.
@miles2057 no its not, anyone involved in this knows this.its just an extra source of revenue and a marginal one at that.how do you think they pay the staff, travel expenses , filming , editing ,colour grading, research the subject at hand , write it .And a hosting it on youtube is not free for those large uploads. You guys want everything free but you would NEVER want to work for free.
@cannoir We don't expect everything for free. Many people subbed to Journeyman Pictures because the documentaries here were available for free & now slowly over time we're being charged to watch them.I'm from Australia & many of these documentaries are directly from Australian tv networks.Journeyman have taken ready made documentaries off of tv networks such as ABC and SBS& put them up on youtube as many other people do.So there aren't all the expenses involved as you've mentioned.
@miles2057 why not expect something for free ,whats wrong in it.the rich should give little to the poor .here we re in 3rd world we cant afford paying many ,others in the west should pay for us.
@miles2057 Yeah i know, they make ad revenue, view revenue, commenting revenue and they charge to see the whole clip. These men aren't really a documentary group, just money hungry faggots. They aren't even in Mexico to document real war, too scared JMP?
that was an advertising gimmick to attract lots of subcribers, then slowly the full-length docs are reduced but people still wanna watch them, so they buy it
Damn! And all Along I thought that Japan is 10 years advanced than USA in terms of technology & Innovation, but still there is no getting rid of this "Corporate Created Poverty"... If Japan has these poor people What more so On CHINA? lol...
how can you make a movie for a given issue when you do not even speak the language of the country? I've been living in Shnijyuku, Japan for 8 years and still would not dare to write about this complicated topic.
@Diabl0Pabl0 If you go back and read what he says, you will see he has the stocks but not the means to reach where he has them, thought i asume making a call might give him some help byt we dont now how stuff works there.
Greed, of any sort, should be identified and treated like any other personally disorder. It follows the same destructive traits as substance abuse. It IS a social crime and a treatable DISEASE. Plain and simple.
it reflects the extreme situation among Japanese corporation and workers. They are generally required to obey the company's agenda all their lives or quit their job. But even after they quit, the situation in other company wouldn't be so different from the first place because it is surrounding phenomena the whole islands of Japan.
JCP is only independent political party in Japan that fights for the interests of ordinary people. May the Japanese people triumph over the evils of capitalist greed, exploitation, and oppression.
May the honorable workers and people of Japan, unite !
When I saw this I thought straight away that it was a matter of pride for him that he does not give in. I wouldnt be surprised that many of the homeless are the same and the charity groups are only serving a small number of them because of that national pride they hold as a people.
First of all, Yokohama is not far from Tokyo. Maybe a 30 minute train ride for $8. Second, the guy seemed intoxicated and was probably making up stories. Yes there are homeless in Japan. There were homeless when I was there 1993-1996. Nothing nearly as bad as San Diego, CA though.
@DavidofThe You shouldn't blaim capitalism because capitalism doesn't really exist anymore. There are a lot of secret trusts, cartels, and monopolies that are in collusion with the governments of the world. Banks, insurance, stocks and bonds, communications, television, etc.
@DeimosSaturn Trust me I'm well aware, but we get sold it as the beautiful purity of capitalism.... Really its more like a twisted form of mercantilism.
This is so sad. The homeless in my town are all drug and alcohol users. I don't know if that is why they are homeless and jobless or whether they got homeless and jobless first and then became addicts and alcoholics. Either way it's sad. No one in the developed world should be living outdoors and eating hot food only twice a week.
2:15 An erhu is not a Japanese instrument, I really hope this was solely intended for the Chinese guy talking, and not for all the footage of Japanese I'm looking at. This is tantamount to doing a documentary on homelessness in Ireland and playing Oompa music. Get it right journeyman...
It was sad to watch that old, grey-bearded man at the end. He was too proud to beg for money and he lives in a society that regards homelessness as too shameful to talk about. He has tons of stocks (are they worth anything now?) but he doesn't have the means to get to Yokohama to cash them. This shouldn't be a problem to rectify yet...it is.
How many poor and homeless people do you know who can speak two languages? Hint: Not very many. This man was clearly an part of the educated class. I'm shocked that he has been laid off and no one has bothered to hire this guy.
I'm assuming that was all the money he lost investing in the two companies. I haven't seen the entire documentary; the context of this video is a bit vague. I guess they went under and left his job since he thought he had plenty of money invested to survive on.
@Malangsufi it s rare in Japan for someone to speak that well of an English, and especially at that age. I think there may be some truths about what he said - he surely is an educated man..
A hell of a lot less dangerous to live on the streets in Japanese than in America...such a beautiful country, such great diversities found no-wheres else, such supurb technology unmatched by any other country,all-in-all one of the very greatest countries in the world..hell America is'nt even in the list...boo hoo
@mactopolis And if Japan keeps on going with increasing poverty and no opportunities for the poor do you honestly believe there streets will stay safe? If you love it so much why don't you live there?
The justification of having an elite capitalist class is that they provide jobs. Yet somehow it's your fault when you can't find one. Looks like a great documentary will have to watch all of it soon.
The man at the end is very respectful and wise, I feel... I respect him much more than I would with many so-called men of high status of today. This man, he is truly a real man, and hasn't lost his dignity and self respect. I bow unto him.
THEY do not call themself HOMELESS.Society call's them that

I don't want to be driven away, I'm sure others agree.
miles2057 1 year ago 139
@miles2057 Hah, I agree. I subbed this after watching several full-length videos on this channel.. I haven't really seen a complete one for a while now :/ Everything they upload is pay-to-watch now.
Aupas 1 year ago
@Aupas seems like they might actually have a budget though. Not everything can be free.
bennymcfarlane 1 year ago
@miles2057 The long documentaries were all old ones.
taubstumm 1 year ago
@miles2057 no its not, anyone involved in this knows this.its just an extra source of revenue and a marginal one at that.how do you think they pay the staff, travel expenses , filming , editing ,colour grading, research the subject at hand , write it .And a hosting it on youtube is not free for those large uploads. You guys want everything free but you would NEVER want to work for free.
cannoir 1 year ago
@cannoir We don't expect everything for free. Many people subbed to Journeyman Pictures because the documentaries here were available for free & now slowly over time we're being charged to watch them.I'm from Australia & many of these documentaries are directly from Australian tv networks.Journeyman have taken ready made documentaries off of tv networks such as ABC and SBS& put them up on youtube as many other people do.So there aren't all the expenses involved as you've mentioned.
miles2057 1 year ago
@miles2057 why not expect something for free ,whats wrong in it.the rich should give little to the poor .here we re in 3rd world we cant afford paying many ,others in the west should pay for us.

@jenjerx true.
When I saw this I thought straight away that it was a matter of pride for him that he does not give in. I wouldnt be surprised that many of the homeless are the same and the charity groups are only serving a small number of them because of that national pride they hold as a people.
eigokudemangaka 1 year ago
@eigokudemangaka i don't think that charity is limited to service certain number of homeless, they are people at the end who wont to survive.

DavidofThe 1 year ago
@DavidofThe You shouldn't blaim capitalism because capitalism doesn't really exist anymore. There are a lot of secret trusts, cartels, and monopolies that are in collusion with the governments of the world. Banks, insurance, stocks and bonds, communications, television, etc.
DeimosSaturn 1 year ago
@DeimosSaturn Trust me I'm well aware, but we get sold it as the beautiful purity of capitalism.... Really its more like a twisted form of mercantilism.

andrenj1970 1 year ago
This is so sad. The homeless in my town are all drug and alcohol users. I don't know if that is why they are homeless and jobless or whether they got homeless and jobless first and then became addicts and alcoholics. Either way it's sad. No one in the developed world should be living outdoors and eating hot food only twice a week.
CamillaCalamity 1 year ago
2:15 An erhu is not a Japanese instrument, I really hope this was solely intended for the Chinese guy talking, and not for all the footage of Japanese I'm looking at. This is tantamount to doing a documentary on homelessness in Ireland and playing Oompa music. Get it right journeyman...
welcomegohome 1 year ago
I want to see the rest of this documentary too!

@NemonicLee :200 000 000 million yen yet homeless?
Malangsufi 1 year ago
@Malangsufi
I'm assuming that was all the money he lost investing in the two companies. I haven't seen the entire documentary; the context of this video is a bit vague. I guess they went under and left his job since he thought he had plenty of money invested to survive on.
NemonicLee 1 year ago
@Malangsufi it s rare in Japan for someone to speak that well of an English, and especially at that age. I think there may be some truths about what he said - he surely is an educated man..

The justification of having an elite capitalist class is that they provide jobs. Yet somehow it's your fault when you can't find one. Looks like a great documentary will have to watch all of it soon.
