Ice Storm - part 1

I will never forget that week. It was beautiful and awful at the same time. Overnight I heard generators buzzing and exploding because they were being hit by lightning. Six of us had to sleep in one tiny room with a fireplace. We listened to a battery-operated radio that my grandpa had that broadcast the audio of tv shows. We got that week off from school. I will never forget that week as long as I live.

i lived it in montreal... i was bad but a friend on mine was in the ice trangle for a month whitout electricity.

i felt bad for those who were in danger -no electricity or heat- but i was young and we had a ball ... it was a time when you could play outside and not worry about getting shot.

The ice storm created some very pretty scenery it also created some tough times for a lot of residents. And of course when the branches were turned into huge chip piles, they started burning as a result of spontaneous heating when they got wet and then the sun starting things up.

Yeah, I just remember how scary it was listening to all the trees snap and then fall to the ground with a large crash. Fun to get off from school, but that's all that was fun about it.

I went through as major ice storm here 3 years ago.. the scariest thing EVER.. Hearing trees snap and the power going off made me think I had to get where there is power.. I am disabled and can't handle the cold too well. I had to leave my puppy as he was too high strung.. But I came home from a friends X mas eve to take him to a relitives home and by 3 AM the power came on here at home.. It was the most scary thing EVER...

Nice. I remember up here we had a bad ice storm too but it was in 1999. There might have been a storm in 1991 too but considering id of been 3 i wouldnt know lol But Im in upstate new york in gouverneur.

i from rochester, i remember this ice storm! i was around 8 years old, we lost all of our trees and power for 11 days, but really beautiful!
