  • YES i love Brent's singing

  • My Dad walks by my room and asked if Bachman Turner Overdrive got back together...(seeing Brent on Lead)... I say... I think their old and string out on glue, DAD!!!

  • aw brent sang really well this time.

  • Watching Brann Dailor manage to sing harmony without slowing down his ridiculous drumming style just makes me want to give up for good. I will never be that insanely talented.

  • @SRsyndrome Or Brent or Troy for that matter, epic performance nonetheless. And don't give up! You'll be that good someday my friend!

  • oh brent hinds..... you look like a wizzard

  • My ears hurt.

  • Snarf snarf sna-snarf snaaaaaaaaaaarfffff ...

  • Where's the banjo? Needs more banjo.

  • jesus fucking christ. this band....

  • is that.... is that Zach Galafinawhatever?

I always knew there was something awesome about that guy...

  • @MrFailboatCaptain yeah right gallifianakis would wish to

  • The two guys who do most of the singing in this song really need to work on their singing. I haven't seen too many live videos of Mastodon, but those two seem to always be out of tune or something. Brann's still good though.

  • @PcCAvioN They have worked on it, the're a lot better now.

  • Drum-cam neglect!!!

  • Brent singing gets a +

  • metal band with proper guitars? I'm liking that

  • @tonupnolid What exactly do you mean by "proper" guitars?

  • @WickedSteak Les Pauls and a Precision as opposed to bc rich or other pointy abominations

  • @tonupnolid I see.. So then what if one of those pointy abominations sounded really good? Is it still improper?

  • @WickedSteak Sure, you could have someone's eye out with them;) I'd go so far as maybe a Flying V, a Firebird/Thunderbird; but those still have smooth curves on the pointy bits anyway, beyond that they all look like accidents waiting to happen hehe. And while we're on the subject, bass guitars with more than 4 strings? What's that about? Truth be told, you only need 1 string anyway:)

  • @tonupnolid Haha. Yeah man. I used to be into pointy guitars myself. I had a cheap version of a jackson randy rhoades sig. Sounded alright, but man was it ever uncomfortable, especially when sitting. I own a flying v, too. Sounds great, but bulky and uncomfortable lol. Now I have a Schecter with a rounded body that i play pretty much exclusively. I definitely see your point. No pun intended.

  • Brent looks like an angry dwarf

  • WHAT A BAND.

  • honestly mastodon music shreds!!! but vocals are not so good but they still fuckin rock!!!

  • These guys are all rad musicians and vocalists...my son looks up to them and Crack the Skye was nominated for a grammy...

  • GOOD

  • Wubzubadensendis the worm hole is in aaaaaaaaaaeeeeeeeeehhh

    THIS CEREAL ECLIPSES AROUND MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHH

    SMRSIMMASLLLASILVERYSEASONOFBUTT

  • @GodsentHellraiser AND THIS PILLOW, SMELLS LIKE DENTEEEEEEN, SOME KINDS OF SODA GIVE ME HICCUUUUUUPPPPPSSS!!!!!

  • @GodsentHellraiser CAN'T UNHEAR! CAN'T UNHEAR!!

  • @GodsentHellraiser you have no clue how hard that made me laugh

  • @JORDANBAUMER BLACKGROW LIKE A MANKI

    SOMETHING HAN SOLO IS MELTED

  • @GodsentHellraiser Oh god, you sir just made my day a little bit better

  • Who gives a shit about the vocals, listen to those crazy ass riffs.

  • Sometimes I don't think Bass and drums can hear each other. It's usually them not harmonizing well.

  • I'd love to hear some of their english-language material...

  • @BelleAndTheBoy --they are from Atlanta, Georgia, and they don't speak English...

  • The vocals were good on this one. Some live ones.. Yeah, they're not great.

  • Vocals weren't that bad. It's Metal. Who gives a flying fuck whether the vocals are spot on or not, mastodons still one of the most instrumentally talented bands you could ever see live...

  • I didn't think the vocals were that bad.

  • Vocals are terrible as always, when they play live.

  • Their sound guy needs to be fired.

  • IT sound like Brent really needs to take a shit when he's singing

  • Brann needs to be lead Singer but its kinda hard to sing while tearing it up on drums

  • @curlyhairdude2010 completely agree, he's got the best voice

  • The only complaint I have with this performance is that Brann's snare sounds a little 'flat' and doesn't seem to pop as much as it should. Everything else was great though.

  • has anyone ever listened to mastodon really late at night they kinda scare you lol in a strange but good way

  • If these guys truly want to be prog, then they should promote their drummer to lead singer....lol....he has the best singing voice after all.....Go Brann.

  • this is one of my favorite songs to sing, such a great tune.

  • Mastodon is perfect the way it is!

  • @bigfatbass5

If you like horrifically off key vocals.

  • I love Mastodon, but they definitely need a singer...

  • Brent looks furious lol...almost in pain! He's a monster

  • THATS FUCKING POWER!

  • None of 'em can really sing (as opposed to the shouting/barking/screaming most of their earlier albums were dominated with) so they drown them with effects in the studio... they really need those effects live, as well.

  • @DeepSouthWrestling1

Brann can sing really good live :O

  • @DeepSouthWrestling1 you haven't watched enough live videos of them, sometimes they are amazing, other times they aren't lol.

  • @lionslicer9999 : True enough, but I did see 'em live in '04, and it was pretty bad, vocal-wise...

  • man i wish i could see them live!

  • Love this band and I hear all ya when you say it's tough to play like this and sing...I can barely play easy shit and sing....but Brent's vocals are just atrocious. I dunno what else to say about it.

  • fuck yeah!

  • Wow. The vocals on this one are actually brilliant. Usually they are their big weak point.

  • @KirkAwesome ~ What metal band has 4 vocalists? I think it's extremely cool, creative and a very strong point. I can't think of any recording of theirs that sounds weak vocally. Live sometimes maybe....but that could be the case with any band on any given night.

  • 1:23 Now THAT'S a fucking scream!

  • lol,they are seriously hairy :D

  • 5 dislikes votes, they only can be Justin Bieber, Hanna Montana, Jonas Brothers, Tokio Hotel and Demi Lovato

  • brents voice sounds the best ive ever heard it. i like it even more then the recording

  • The lead singer talks and sings COMPLETELY different...

  • everything sounds just like it did on the record. fucking metal \m/

  • dig the Shriner emblem on that Gibson...

  • this is amazing, but that sound guy turned bill and brent's guitar sound way down.

  • My only complaint, is I wish they were a bit more animated on stage. That is not a bash on them, These guys are fucking incredible.

  • sucks

  • brent sounds like theres no lips under his facial hair you cant hear his F's and P's lmao i love mastodon

  • This is insane how they can play this and sing at the same time

  • The fact anyone can play this song on guitar and sing is amazing. Even if they wrote it, it's still hard as hell just looking at it. I looked it up last night and it blew my mind how hard it was

  • brett is sooooo good.... when hes sober lol, just when he getsdrunk his voice goes straight to hell. please brett for the love of humanity and for the stability of the universe, stay sober

  • Brent's vocals were bad on the live Oblivion, but they are pretty good on this one.

  • The vocals are sick, the music is SICK, it's all 100% amazing.

  • lol Zack Galifinakis on guitar and lead vox.

Jokes, this is really good thow.

  • 0:40-0:45 when he screams like that then adds that hill billy vibrato at the end of a phrase makes me laugh

  • man i like this band but there lead guitarist looks like they got him in some busted up slum crackhouse. dude looks like the little axe man on the ole game Golden axe

  • Brent Hinds Rules

  • F*cking amazing!!! Brent really does have problems with singing, but Troy's voice sounds awesome and the playing is fcuking solid!!!!! amazing band, amazing album!

  • 1:24 Lol, strugglin

  • They all kick ass, as far as it goes for band solidarity live, it's pretty rare when everyone contributes so many CRUCIAL parts.

Also singing in key with another person isn't always going to sound amazing, it's hard too when you're bashing drums and rippin' a bass. solid.

  • all the members have great vocals, even bill, but when your playing shit that complicated, trying to sing and play guitar is like trying to remember a 5000 pg book word for word and knit with your feet at the same time

  • @MorbidHumanity666 are you sure check out Nile or Children Of Bodom and say that again

  • @tumabugi nile isnt that good live though. they cant tremolo pick worth for shit

  • @MorbidHumanity666 i can do that, ill make you a blanket

  • the drummer has the best voice out of the members listen to oblivion kickass song and band

  • 2:21 troy is all, "come on bass be louder damnit!"

  • I love Mastodon don't get wrong. They having amazing lines, riffs, solos, singing. But I just have to say Brent looks in pain when singing. Still love him and the solos though! (I mean no one can play a solo like him fuck!)

  • @TheBurntPi look at the download festival recordings of 2007 when he had a throat infection. THAT look and sounds painful.

  • @TheBurntPi i think its just the concentration he's under to do all of that at once

  • @TheBurntPi Would you rather him look like Taylor Swift when he sings? THIS. IS. METAL.

  • @TheBurntPi just him trying to push his vocal style out. Without hurting his vocal chords

  • @TheBurntPi let's see what you look like fried on crystal ripping insane riffs and singing your fucking throat off??

  • @TheBurntPi He is in pain. It's painful to be a god sometimes.

  • @MickeyD931 It's painful to hear people say lame-ass shit about metal guys being "gods."

  • Troy Sanders rulez!!! =)

  • im sorry but troy sanders is clearly the best singer

  • Brann's vocals are the best. Make him the lead singer.

  • brents the only one who has solid vocals live

  • phil anselmo's vocals would be sweet on some of this stuff

  • thats not such a bad idea....... give me some time, ill record vocals over the instrumentals, edit the shit out of them so i sound like him and see if its alright. it wont be the same, but itll be close.

  • lol, i was just kidding around, but that would be very cool. i've subscribed to your channel if you do put a vid of that out.

  • im working on it as we speak:D its hard to get the right pitch and all that -_- :D

  • @audibleobsession Phil's vocals would sound good on any thing

  • @audibleobsession anselmo is overrated.

  • Troy looks like a fish when he sings

  • Brent Hinds has hobo chic down to a science. :D

  • braveheart.

  • i love bills look, he looks like josh homme mixed with a lumberjack and a cowboy. Fucking straight-a badassery.

  • like like like

  • Holy shit! Troy's voice in this is amazing. I was thinking to myself "Well, this is an okay performance so far. Brent's voice isn't that good."

Then i heard Troy's in this and I was shocked! Very good job on Troy's vocals.

  • Hinds's singing defenatly brings a harsher note to the music that in my mind improves the overall effect

  • Instruments are awesome, but the singing is a little dry and flat. They're usually much better than this.

  • awesome vocals!

  • Ah shit man, I thumbs-downed your comment when I meant to thumbs up and my optical mouse skipped! Sorry!

The vocals are brilliant! I LOVE IT.

I love the fact that they're all singing as well.

I saw them on the Blood Mountain tour and my mind was blown. Something tells me the next time I see them it's going to be even better!

  • Great job. Take some vocal lessons though please. Make your live work match your studio work.

  • consider the fact that brent hinds is probably baked during this, and he has to focus on guitar aswell as singing... so its not his fault he sounds like an angry goat

  • You have an excellent point. But I think some vocal lessons might be helpful too.

  • well he was probably more drunk then stoned but yeah. its funny when in most videos he kinda just mumbles because he forgot the lyrics

  • I happen to think angry goats sound awesome.

  • L2play guitar like that and match "studio vocals" and you will be the most successful rockstar of all time. GTFO.

  • im view 7,001 bitches!!!! yay :D

  • maybe not. youtube doesnt post all the views as it happens apperently.

  • @TheDramaticSkeleton ahahah win.

have you worked on that thing of phil's vocals over this?

  • I think if they added even a little reverb, the vox would sound better. Whatever the case they sound dry...naked. They r mostly in harmony...oh, not there.

Hey, it's got the character right? It's still fucking badass!

  • yeah, exactly what i was thinkin, that need more reverb.

  • Man, for such an amazing band, they have the worst vocals! They do alright on record, but live they can't seem to keep it together.

  • yea its true unfortunantly :( but they make up for it with badass instrumentals

  • when Brent sings i start laughing, not because hes a bad singer just the way he looks when he sings. But seriously Mastodon are amazing.

  • Damn this sounds good compared to the other live vids of them! Awesome song!

  • system of a down is fucking boring

  • brent looks like a bear lol

  • kinda looks like a pissed off zach galifinakis

  • a bit lol

  • mastodon rules

  • system of a down and mastodon. two great bands. but totally different. don't compare them please!

  • no-one was comparing them dude:D

  • you were dude :D

  • AHHHHHHHH no. i wasnt. i was saying that there are bands who have a similar sound to system. in those two replies i sent to the dude talking about system, i never once even said mastodon, so before you act like an idiot, maybe read my comment properly and not be such a scrotum? just a suggestion. and before you reply to this, read the other comments and realise that no-one was comparing those bands, and see how wrong you were. failtard!

  • jason lee and zach galifinakis are good in this movie

  • shut up you emo metal brutal faggots!!! mastodon is the best band in the last 10 years. if there's a band that put all they got in their records and live, that's them.

why don't you all listen to some music for about 20 years and then start to talk

  • eh I would say last 5, last 10 has to go to System of a Down, there has never been or will be anything like them...not to mention they have their name down in some elite record books... Mastodon=best metal band since them and one of the most original ever. As their sound refines as they get better/older, their playing just gets more exciting to hear; every album and every youtube video gets sonically better. Old school Mastadon also kicks ass \m/

  • psykup, sikth, protest the hero (a little) and sometimes korn are all like system of a down. they way they use eratic singing and time signitures. i agree with you, they are legendary, but there are many bands like them, and there were bands like them before they were around. system were just the first to make it "big".

  • Yeh idk thoe bands being dumped in the same genre doesnt make them the same sound as SOAD, theyre studio stuff is so well done they usually cant do justice to their music live.I think they were the Beatles of this decade, they had such a good sense of melody and could harmonize brutal riffs and growls so well with a simple pop sense... I see Mastodons new album being sort of like Hypnotize/Mezmerize and could really boost popularity.

  • no, i wasnt saying they were in the same genre, i was saying that they sound like system, the time signatures and similar drum beats, not the exact same vocal sound, but the same way in which they sing. the reason i got into those bands is because of how much they remind me of soad. psykups latest album has some moments where it is very similar to soads first album. and sikth are just crazy like soad. protest the hero uses the same drumming techniques sometimes.

  • brent kinda reminds me of allen from the hangover in this

  • Well you gotta realize, in the studio they just sing and record instruments separately. When they have to play live they need to play their instruments and sing at the same time, which isn't easy at all. and these videos don't do them justice, it sounds better actually being there

  • This is also really close to the release of the album, they haven't had a lot of experience with the new songs live at this point. :) I saw them in July, was beautiful, vocals were close to flawless.

  • for me, Brent´s voice recalls those raspy , heavy nasal voices of metal like Udo Dirkschneider (Accept and U.D.O.)

  • Watch their other live shows, this is actually a pretty good live version. I don't care if they can't sing well live; it's difficult as hell to sing and play the fuck out of their instruments as they do.

  • I don't mind if the lyrics are a bit off, but if you're listening to the instruments they sound exactly like the CD which is awesome.

  • Exactly.

  • God, he cant sing live. I've watched other live videos too, dont get on me about it. They arent a good live band.

  • Brent sounds like a mountain man when he sings but when he talks he sounds normal

  • there riffs are so weird i love it!

  • that solo riff makes me want to smash my head into the ground whilst simultaneously want to kill zombies ninjas and pirates at the same time with my fists. Mastodon fuckin rule.

  • fake

  • this was such a good performance, i liked it better than the record

  • This live was very good

But I heard the dude's voice in some other lives of them and he killed it

But mastodon are one in a million

    Love them

Crack the skye was the album of the decade

  • yea, the lion-looking dude's voice is awesome... loving this band

  • lol lion looking dude, im pretty sure you mean Brent, but yeah mastodon is amazing

  • brent hinds lol

  • helll..yeah...love this new song so much...it sounds different from their other records

  • Dude- I love brents voice so much-

  • awsomeee

  • He doesn't have the best voice but who really gives a shit. His voice is powerful and totally original.
