  • The Carling video was made in Reinsberg, Germany in 1996. I don't like either of these show-off versions.

  • Who's solo on Cherokee do you like??

In my humble opinion, it just doesn't getter better than Clifford Brown or Wynton's solos...and both their solo's are a bear technically.

  • It's not about competition, but if you want an honest opinion....I like Wynton's solo better, especially if you listen to the choruses before and after this clip. He's really stretching his mental and physical limits. Just so much energy and passion being channeled into his playing. You can hear and see all the years of striving and studying that brought him to that moment. Inspiring. This other trumpet player sounds good too. Creative ideas. But to me it's, Master vs. Skilled Player.

  • I have to totally agree with you on this one. I'd like to say that I think Wynton is a brilliant trumpet player but I am not a big fan of his music. Whoever posted this, don't get it twisted. There is no comparison. Challenge Wynton Marsalis. I dare you. You will get your ass handed to you in one million pieces.

Trump, I like your style man, WELL SAID....you don't have to like Wynton, believe it or not, HE TRULY DOESN"T CARE. The man is as honest a musician as there is, he is only playing for you what HE hears, HE CAN"T MAKE YOU LIKE IT...People who don't know music, they say, oh, he's arrogant, he's old school...Well, OLD SCHOOL is a good concept, and he's right about Satchmo and Duke, and I trust him, simply because he has dedicated his life to music...isn't his opinion MORE INFORMED???
