popcorn sutton, a man above anything else. i agree he got a raw deal. he probly payed taxes on the corn, jars, copper, i dont think he stole anything. he payed his taxes on the likker. that is not illegal
You seem like a really good guy (like popcorn) Your guitar playing is teriffic and reminds me of a lot of Woody Guthrie's style. God bless you and RIP Popcorn, you were the last of a breed.
Tony thanks for this wonderful song, its about time people started taking up for each other,I personally never met Popcorn but muy dad use to hunt on his place , he said he was a good guy .Your music is great ,keep up the good work !
Pickers like you sir are the few who keep my faith in the American music alive. Now days it's all about who can be the most liberal in their music, but you instead pay tribute to a dying breed of American originals, and I thank you.
@ponyboy195 hope I didn't offend anyone with this ,other than the ones who deserved it LOL.. once again good song Mr.Oldtones this is one you just gotta love here. Ol'e Pony said it keep picking ;) ..
Love the song,,love the comment afterwards too!! I agree they should go after the ones who intentially hurt others, I don't think Popcorn ever hurt anyone. Thank you!!
thank you for liking my song; yes, I have recorded it on a demo cd along with several other originals I wrote and I did play the banjo on this promo. You are right, the banjo serves it well. Tony
how would a person come by a copy of this demo cd? just call me an interested nc mountain mandolin picker....great song too popcorn was a cool old dude.
Great job and much enjoyed the song. Thank you for also posting the chord pattern. That "pint of his best" needs ta get drank bro! Get you a big gal, some mirrors for the floor and ceiling and drink that pint! Do it for Popcorn!!!! :) or not...
I don't have any tabs written out, but I will be happy to give you the chord pattern, it is C, F, and G. If you cannot get the lyrics down from the youtube, I will be happy to send them to you. Thanks for liking my song.
I first met Mr. Sutton at the Museum of Appalachia and got aquainted with him. I performed several times at the cabin porch as he was building the moonshine still. He enjoyed my old time mountain tunes as well as some of the old gospel favorites I played. I was honored to play for him several times over the course of the two years I knew him. The last time he was there he left me a pint of his best and I still have it and will keep it in his memory. He was a master of what he done.
you are right, we think the law did him wrong, there is so very much worse out there! and it IS a part of this culture. Noone would understand that if they do not live here. No, not just live here, but be a part of this culture.
