1 day ago when you are reading thid do not stop or something bad will happen! (sorry about this) this girl's name is summer she is 15 years old and has blonde hair, many scars, and she has no ear. She is dead. If you don't copy this to more than 5 videos, she will appair one dark quiet night when you are not expecting it beside your bed with a knife and going to kill you. This is no joke. If you send this on 5 more videos something good will happen to you im
@wpppete ..2 reasons why WLS was heard from afar. 1. 50,000 watts AND the frequency (890) did not have any interference from other stations (clear channel)
Oh yeah. I used to listen to this song ON THE ACTUAL WLS RADIO STATION ....89 AM. Lived 2 hours away (Bangor Michigan). WLS and WCFL were the main stations back in the day. This one definitely brings back the memories.
Cool video...this works even for people not from Chicago...8-tracks, the 45s case (my sister had one of those), the 45 spider, S and H Green Stamps(we all had a mother who collected those and you go to the showroom to redeem them), School House Rock on a Saturday morning, The Gremlin (I think we all knew somebody that drove one), pop with the metal top....nothing says 1975 like Tab,an Elton John 8-track and a banana seat bike...ah...the good old days...
@89wls It was Safeway and/or Consumers in my part of the world (southwest Missouri, 1970-75, I think)...those stores are still there but S&H Green Stamps are no more, sadly...your video brings back many vivid memories of that time...thanx
We used to get WLS down here in Texas in the 70s. That's how strong the signal was. Not all of the time, but most of the time depending on the weather etc... And only in a car. Couldn't pick it up inside the casa. As teens back then we didn't have the net, video games at home so on and so on. So we surfed the radio stations looking for alien life and found WLS on AM. We stopped listening to it when we discovered KISS - KMAC hard rock AM station in San Antonio later on.
Sorry I haven't been on this page in awhile. All your comments have been positive and I am very happy to have provided a walk down memory lane for some. Since I am born in 1962 (in Chicago), all these images in my slide show represents my childhood and obviously yours too. My wife sold a original "Tip It" game of mine (in near mint condition) for $2.00 at our garage sale. I nearly shit right there (lol). Oh well.
@ DaveWollenberg. There is a WLSfm 94.7 now that has gone to the format
The Super CFL version of this was the last song WCFL played when they dumped rock & roll for "beautiful music" in 75 or so. That last day, they actually ran ads for the other rock stations in town -- AM & FM -- inviting listeners over after the "big change."
Larry Lujack was afternoon drive on CFL in those days. I used to have that last day changeover aircheck on tape (probably in the bottom of a box in my garage somewhere)...
Reunion hit #8 in Billboard, 11-16-74. Sure wish WLS-AM would go back to a classic- hits format. Nobody listens to talk radio, anymore! God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!
I never heard this song. Came across an album and bought it yesterday. This song is on it. WOW...this video is so cute. All the memories. I still have the green stamps, had some models, also bought a Partridge Family album-has a group pic included, found a Kodak camera like the one I had, dated a guy who had the Gremlin car, still have my 45's, had Booby Trap, still have Lite Brite. Bring back the Gong Show!!!
Awesome memories from an era of radio that had great personality. Thanks Lou, for bringing us back to that time when MusicRadio was the rock of Chicago!
this is so freakin excellent love the pictures

There was a longer version, or something, but there were one less or one more chorus between verses 1 and 2.:) and a longer fade.:)
