"I was born ready!" Great trailer for one of my faves. It came at least a decade too early before we in the West "got" Asian action cinema. Today it would probably do well. I'd love to see John and Kurt together but I think a sequel at this late date might not be wise.  We might get another "Escape from L.A." which was fun but not very good.

@chrisgoguen I agree, no disrespect to Russell but he's 60 now if he isn't already. It would be hard to picture Burton kicking ass as a man close to picking up his pension. I know how that might sound but It's just been left too long. Had they may done it shortly after the movie had been released or back in the 90's I might have said, why the hell not. It might not be too bad. But its too late now. Unless they did it set in the 80's or 90's with different actors...but that me be too big a risk!

John Carpenter is awesome I'm glad he's still doing movies. This is one of my favorites.

He's been asked a lot, but said that the movie didn't make enough money at the box office for there to be a sequel. I think after all this time it would just ruin the movie. Besides, Victor Wong (Egg Shen) died 9/12/01 =[ ..and it just wouldn't be right without Egg Shen. To me it would be like how Blues Brothers 2000 without Belushi was

I'd only watch a sequel if Carpenter made it, one of the most underrated directors, Escape from New York and The Thing are great films. But nobody said that the whole cast of characters had to come back, as they could probably make another good film along the same vein using Jack Burton but set somewhere else, not in SF Chinatown, cause he's a pretty fun character.
