He is so cute and funny! I love him! I have two tiels and a cat, but one day I want to have an african grey (instead of a human child) which I will adopt from the rescue shelter! AWESOME!
LMAO my neighbor's african grey will watch Star Trek with us, and every time he hears the red alert sound he says "Cut that damn noise off" in Captain Picard's voice. It's freaking hilarious!
Jillang, I absolutely ADORE Oliver! I say, "Oliver for President"!!!! I have an African Grey named Boris... the intelligence of these birds is positively amazing! Parrot hugs to you and Oliver!
I was reading your comments. Our grey, Rudy, always listens intently when I talk also. He learns some things in a few hours. He's only three and he has been talking since just after we got him right after he was weaned. I had bronchitis for 6 months when we got him. (I have a terrible allergy to paint and the house had just been painted.) Anyway, the first thing he learned to do was cough non stop. Not knowing much about birds, I thought he was coming down with a cold. haha
I love your bird! We have a African Grey and he talks like yours non stop from 7am until dark every day. Amazing. He sings and waves at new people that come over. He also waves at people he sees outside the window. He does it by hanging onto the side of the cage with one foot and his beak while waving with the other foot. Hilarious!
Ive been watching Oliver for a couple years now, I would love to request the vid you have of oliver playing with his toys. (Unless it is already up now) I found out about oliver from a yahoo group on African grey parrots. LOVE HIM!
Why does he mainly talk in a male voice ? In the video where he tosses his toys, and also in this (when he says "what's that" there is a short sequence where he speaks in a female voice.
My CAG talks in my voice (female) and only uses my husbands voice when he's mad or really serious. They generally speak in one person's voice mostly and use other people's voices for only a few things. They also mimic sounds, like the phone ringing.
Hello! I think Oliver talks mainly in my husband's voice because he considers him his "competition". Over the last year, Oliver has been picking up more of my voice and my "baby talking" to him. I wish he wouldn't talk in my voice!
It usually doesn't take Oliver long to learn something. When my husband is trying to teach him something, you can tell he's paying attention. Just recently, it only took him a day to learn a phrase. Each grey is different.
it sound like a person holy shit!!!!!

He is really an outstanding bird. Interesting, how "human" African Grays can be. I wonder what he does, when he "goes upstairs help mama".
