I remember jumping outta my seat watching this when I was kid. They showed the highlights at halftime of the All-Star game the day after the competition back then. As much as I love the Dunk Contest, I prefer game-time dunks WAY more. They're just so much nastier than waiting on a fool to dunk with a costume or some other gimmik.
Why do people always say, "The dunk comp is back!" when the modern day dunks are way more insane than these. There were a couple bad years but not many. Jordan's dunk at 2:17 was the best dunk in this competition but would probably just be a first round dunk today. No disrespect to the greatest of all times
@ratsplayingbasketbal Stansbury is great. he was my coach in 2008 in Luxembourg and I'll alway remember him sayin' after performing a dunk in practice: 'Oh my back...' ;-)
dunkers23, That's why I play basketball, along with all the fancy dunks. If you can't dunk yet, you GOTTA start practicing. I definitely advise you to try the one I'm using - 50inch vertical[dot]com - I m 5 7 and I can dunk!

dunkers23, is 5 10, American and could dunk. Wtf you mean white people can't jump? It's simply about the training people do to get their own jump to be strong enough to dunk. For me, I just used the professional jump workout over at "50inch vertical [dot] com"
dunkers23, reminds me of why I like basketball, along with all the fancy dunks. If you can't dunk yet, you need to start practicing. I definitely recommend you to try the program I'm using - |50 inch vertical [dot] com| - I m 5 7 and I can dunk!
yeah stansbury he's great...I know him I shook his hand a couple times and talked to him...I met him like 4 times and he still can dunk lol....he's a coach here in my country and I won with my team against his
Terrance Stansbury should of got royalties from EA cuz they took his "Statue of Liberty" dunk and put it in Jordan v. Bird for the Commodore 64 in '88. Just another case of EA lowballin there clientele.
that was a decent dunk contest, Orlando Woolridge never did that great of dunks in dunks contests although he did have first between the legs which was definitely sick
2) Jordan was decent, you could tell he hadn't elevated his dunks to the level they would be at in just a few years
3) Drexler was nice, although I've always thought his in game dunks were the most insane b/c he'd float over someone from like 10 feet away
Yeah they all did mostly the same dunks back then with just slight variations in take off and stuff. Amd that was enough back then, just really cool to see athletic guys fly and dunk. People have just become Really Jaded this day n' age. I can't stand Magic and Barkley's constant pissing and moaning about dunkers doing any dunk that has been done before. Expectations need to chill a little bit, remember NBA players are the amatuers and AND1 guys are the pro's at this stuff.
Stansbury statue of liberty dunk was the best dunk of that contest. First full 360 ever seen. And that other dunk was nice too. Can't even desribe what he did but I'll try. Off the bounce catch it going right to left back to right side reverse.
its silly to me that now on all star weekend , and we have non all stars dunking and shooting threes? bring back the old ways

clyde drexler was such an underrated dunker.
GstateBALLER925 2 years ago 3
clyde the glyde i dont think was underrated, he was known as one of the best, why else was he in a few contests then?
Staleym 2 years ago
what i mean is that not many people considered him a great dunker with all the jordans and dominques out there. he was very overlooked.

Did Stansbury get robbed in this contest?
