When he puts the capo on the second fret, the key moved up a whole step. Since he was in the key of G it moved to A because of the capo on the second fret.
this guy is insanely helpful. Funny though, at the beginning "read charts" sounded like "read sharts." just funny thats all, otherwise many thanks for the tips
i'm just beginning learning guitar and music. I know a few chords and single notes. I don't understand how scales or different keys work. Where can i find more info about that something that's concise and quick to understand. I don't want too much theory
I have a kyser and the guy at guitar center said it was their top selling capo and it works fine for me though iI have some issues with notes being to sharp
hey imn trying to play collide b howie day on my electric gutair and u only use the 3 and 2 fret , and im susposed to put the capo on the 4th fret, so i did it and then when i held down the 3 fret and stuff it didnt change the pitch of the gutair, so is my capo to tight, or can u not use the frets behind the capo, that meaning if i put it on the 3fret will the 1 and 2 fret not change the pitch if i hold them down? help!
No because the capo is acting as the "nut" on the guitar's neck and all the pitches would be based on where the capo is placed. You would play your chords / notes after (below) the capo and not above it. In your case, you'd play the "2nd" and "3rd" fret from the capo placement which would actually be the 6th and 7th fret originally.
you would play 2 and 3 frets up from where you put the capo. if you play "behind" the capo it wont change a thing. so where ever you put the capo play it the same amount of frets from the capo you would playing regularly
I use the one guitar sage uses in his videos, the G7th capo. It's a little expensive, around $30 or so but it has never failed me and I use it all of the time. It's a very good investment
If a tab said to put a capo on the 1st fret and told you to place all your fingers on the first fret (example), would that mean put all your fingers on what would originally be the second fret.
Great series of videos. You mention towards the end of this one that you have another video that goes into the transposing of keys theory in more detail... I've done a search but can't find it... any clues?

that guitar sounds beautiful. i want an acoustic really bad.

If you move the capo up a whole step from G you would be playing in A. Right?

When we put on a capo and play tabs are the numbers still counted like normal without a capo or is number 0 at where the capo is clipped ?

when we use a capo and are playing a song by tabs, the numbers are played as usual or the number 0 starts at where the capo is clipped ?

Right i have a question.
If a tab said to put a capo on the 1st fret and told you to place all your fingers on the first fret (example), would that mean put all your fingers on what would originally be the second fret.

Yes scoot your hand up however many frets you put the capo up.

Try tightening it up if it's adjustable. If not, your string action may be too high keeping the strings from touching the fret.

hey whenever i use a capo on my acoustic either the 6th string gets muted, or the 1st string gets muted. how do i fix this??
