@uni4ever Actually I received an HTC Desire HD last week. I rooted it today with Android Revolution HD 3.0 (2.2). I'm going to post a review of it tomorrow... loving that 2nd generation Snapdragon processor. You're not really using and EVO still are you?

@obrebel0 I was using GammaFly v1 up until yesterday and other various Cynaogen spinoffs but dropped back down to an Eclair ROM for a little more speed and less freezing issues.

@snake1250 Yes, there has been a bluetooth fix for ages but that Hero Rom was 1.5 (Cupcake). Android is now up to 2.2 with 3.0 supposedly coming out before Christmas. If you are still hooked on a Hero ROM you can download a 2.1 Eclair one.. same good stuff but just updated :)

Idk why but this rom works perfectly except when i press the power button to lock the phone and i unlock it, the screen go blurry... everything continues to work except the screen shows blurry... Idk how to fix this and if anyone can help me i would really appreciate it

No problem.. download the file from my description then use a recovery console like Amon_Ra's 1.5.2 and flash it... not too difficult since you're already rooted. Since this video I have tested a better Hero ROM.. will post a video next week.

If you phone is rooted make sure you save your Dalvik to SD and when you install this ROM then all your apps will be there...

Camera works but BT has a problem working on Hero ROM's... I have since moved onto Eclair and a supped up themed Cupcake with Eclair parts.

Okay I have done everything perfect. My phone is amazing with the hero and everything is working. the one thing I want to know is if its possible to now upgrade to 1.6. I had to downgrade from 1.6 to 1.5 to make it work, but now can I get 1.6 back???

You can get a 1.6 ROM or switch back to your original ROM with the backup you should have made and get an OTA update to 1.6

hi there, I have a 32b magic with 1.6 firmware on it. I cant seem to downgrade it to 1.5 and it's sending me mental! did you say you had the file needed?? any help would be great, thanks a lot

I was thinking about loading the Hero rom on my Mytouch, but when loading the hero rom, does it delete all data (contacts, downloads, text messages) ???

Yes.. you have to perform a wipe to install it fresh, but your contacts will sync again with Google when you go through the setup. Text messages will be gone but you can use programs in the Market that will backup all of that stuff anyway... try: Astro File Manager (it has a good app backup) or MyBackup Pro which will backup just about everything.

I use the class 6 8GB card that came with my phone.. if you use the same then you should have no problems.

There are tutorials online to help you root your phone very easily. What version number is your phone? Mine is a 32b so I ONLY flash 32b or universal ROM's.. don't flash anything other than a ROM for your board or you will have issues.

I have the file you need in order to get from 1.6 to 1.5... I updated my Magic to 1.6 and had a horrible time trying to root it because I had to downgrade. I have since found the file and rerooted my phone again and now have a rooted 1.5 & 1.6 on my Nandroid backup. I have sent you a message with my email so you can root your phone too.

Does it sync facebook contacts with your phone contacts like the hero rom does?

This is a Hero ROM and yes.. it syncs all the major social networking sites. I only use facebook & flickr though.

Yes you can revert back to the original ROM, but after you root the phone its best to make a Nandroid backup of it for later use.

I have thoroughly tested ALOT of ROMs. Some of the ones I got rid of in a HURRY were MoDaCo 2.0, MLIGN-HeroV2.0, Cyanogen 4.1.99 (I like the Hero ROMs but Cyanogens 1.6 update was nice). Others may like these.. God only knows why but I was searching for perfection and I have it with mdHero.. incidentally I replaced the HeroLED apk with a newer one and that's all I needed.

The Hero uses the exact same Qualcomm 528MHz processor as the HTC Magic so power isn't an issue. The difference between the 2 phones comes down to an extra 1.8mp for the camera a 3.5mm headset jack and Sense UI. I can tell you now that the photo difference between the two is minimal at best. The headset issue is dead since I purchased one for 69 cents (Euro cents) here in Germany and as you can see from the video I have the Sense UI. I have all the good parts without the extra price. NEXT!

Sorry.. my screen is crystal clear. The blurriness is in fact from the camera quality.

I can multitask.. keep a lookout and I will post a video. The HTC Magic is a multitasking phone... that simple.  The most apps I have used at once is 9 I dont do more than that because that would just be showing off.

Try to do a factory wipe/reset then go through with the ROM install and see if that helps.

like you, i've been on a quest to find the perfect hero rom, this by far is the best one. the only thing i cant seem to do is change the wallpaper :(

The wallpaper is easy to change. Just push Menu : Wallpaper: Home/ Lockscreen, then Albums or Wallpaper Gallery. I use the albums on my SD card as that is where I keep my wallpapers. This ROM only has 2 wallpapers, but not to worry.. you can download more to your SD card easily.

yeah i know, it forecloses when i try to change it in the menu and when i add my own wall paper it says new wallpaper but when i go to the desktop its the same one, might just re-install the rom tonight.

You have to root you phone in order to install this ROM.. and also this Hero ROM is for the 32b mother board (Vodafone HTC Magic).

Multitouch does work with some apps but not all. I know it works with the default browser and photo viewer. As for Google Maps.... I don't have it so I wouldn't know. I use CoPilot.... years ahead of Gmaps.

The ROM is called MdHero but because I spent the weekend downloading and testing ROMs I found online I don't know exactly where I found it. xda developers would be a good start. I will upload the ROM today or tomorrow.
