  • I'm English and I get very aggravated when I hear someone (Americans) pronounce it ''Nitch''

Thank you for the video! ;-)

  • I pronounce it "Neesh" or "Neesheh" not "nitch".. then again, I don't really have a typical American accent XD

  • Removed it because I realised my mistake. Cut me a little slack, as I've only been in Australia for two weeks. The two accents aren't that easy for an outsider to distinguish. That's akin to me expecting you to be able to differentiate the U.S. and Canada by accent alone.

  • @acdold Hey! U.S. vs. Canada is easy! It's all aboot the ayes aye?

  • @oldschooltube28 No, that would be the Scotts. Canadians say "eh".

  • @acdold Why'd you remove your comment? I was getting really excited about schooling your dumb arse on how Australians and New Zealanders are two very different nationalities! But, you did say "I'm from the U.S." in your rant, so, that probably addresses everything we need to know here.

  • "neesh" not "nutch" got it, thanks!

  • @BridesEyes I <3 your comment.

  • Even though OP himself has a funny accent and probably has an unusual fondness of sheep, he is correct; the word is not pronounced 'nitch' in English. It is, however, in American English, but it goes without saying that this is inherently a perversion of the English language.

  • According to pretty much every American dictionary and usage guide, "nitch" is the correct American pronunciation; "neesh" is at best a secondary pronounciation and at worst a pretentious deanglicization of a word that has been anglicized since the 1700s.

  • @fwgoldberg i think americanised would be a more accurate term than anglicised. it has always been "neesh" in britain.

  • I'm going to go ahead and call it 'nitch' to separate myself from bastards like you. Nice counter-productive work there, bud.

  • Hahaha!! I love it!!

  • It's niche. Why don't you look in the dictionary for the proper pronunciation before you make assumptions? Lol.

  • I pronounce it "nish" but I don't have an accent, you do.

  • I am not American and I pronounce it Nit-Ch o.o

  • I'm sorry but niche simply doesn't rhyme in my poetry.

  • This is hilarious, a New Zealander trying to teach the world how to pronounce words when they are incapable of pronouncing them correctly themselves.

  • Ever heard an American say 'Nietzsche'? As in the philosopher. It's guaranteed to annoy you. "Nee-chee". That's not accent, it's just ignorance of how foreign words are pronounced.

  • answer me this mr superior english man what are you doing at home making youtube videos pronouncing words???

  • "ahead" --> "uh-head" not "uh-heeeed" ; "stupid" ---> you, and it's pronounced "stoo-pid" not "shhhtuu-pid".

It's called an "accent" in case you haven't noticed, this made my day, thank you, me and my "mates" are laughing our asses off. Also, most Americans say it like 'neesh'. I don't know where you are getting your "info" from. But good try though, made for a good laugh, shave your beard.

  • @feffi26175 Hahahaha this made me laugh :)

  • How about "soldering iron"...? Americans call it a "sawdering iron"! How about "chassis"... pronounced "chah-see" instead of "shassee".

  • @badreaxion Lol, we're just so dumb aren't we!

  • I heard "niche" being said as "nitch" for the first time today. Made me cringe considering the woman was a teacher.

type in on google "apple eduction greene county" and it's the first link.

  • You can ask Merriam Webster all you want, but she's probably related to that despciable Kevin Webster and his daughter Rosie..., so I don't trust Merriam's advices.

I have no idea what ignorance means and I'm far too bored and agitated by new things to look it up, so I'm going to take it as a compliment.

Thank you for stopping by ;)

  • The Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary has two audio versions of how it is pronounced in the US. Both are official.

In the 19th century spelling differences were codified in the Webster Dictionary vs the English Samuel Johnson Dictionary of the English Language. English as practiced in the UK today has many corruptions that are still debated there. What you call "stupid" is your personal preference and reveals your provincial bigotry, intolerance, and ignorance. Deal with it.

  • Isn't the word "stupid" and not "shtupid" like you pronounce it? Everyone pronounces words the way they want to. You don't say every word right..

  • I agree, but I live in the US and most of the people I know pronounce it "neesh." I don't know where you are getting your data from.

  • Great video, it's so so true. Hearing anyone (usually thick Americans though) say 'nitch' is fucking cringeworthy and annoying in equal measure.

  • u know which word pisses me off more than any other... its when people (usually stupid americans) pronounce the word "solder" as in to solder a wire as "sodder"

i swear to mother fucking bishnu i will kick you in the teeth u say it in front of me...

i mean its not like its an awkward word like niche... i mean its ch right cheese not sheesh... but solder... ess oh ell dee ee arr solder! not sodder... pronounce the L! and its o as in blow not o as in hot
