I'm a real pilot and I prefer X-plane. Just like any argument oppinion varies. The biggest advantage to FSX i feel is the number of third party people developing supporting programs. Xplane takes my vote because the flight model is better as is the local scenery in my area before i need addon third party software.

good to see real pilots commenting ,if youve seen my other posts you probably know im a fighter pilot and used Xplane as my f15 sim back in flight school. I guess theres alot of hobbie pilots using FSX and thinking its the best and bypassing Xplane because it cost a great deal more and hasnt the same adventure setting with ouut the whole missions thing, but iguess thats also why it sint certified by FFA

still, if you want max graphics, that's kinda weird, cause I got 1 gb graphics card and it still lags a bit

i knothis is a kind of stupid qeustion. my demo wasnt workin properly. is there rudder in x plane? cuz i havent seen rudder movement on any vids and on my demo it didnt work

Yes there is rudder control. You can use a stick with a torsion axis like I do, of get a stick and pedal combo. The rudders, along with all other control surfaces do visibly move as well. I suspect some of the vids you've seen simply didn't feature any yaw input by the pilots, which is feasible if there's no cross winds.

I can't speak for the newer FSX, but in the previous MSFS, various "forces" were totally canned rather than modeled. For example, a parked 747 with the brakes off and full reverse thrust just sat there in MSFS! In X-plane, it will back up just as in real life. Additionally, with the MSFS autopilot engaged, full roll could be applied, the ailerons would move to 100% and the plane stayed completely level! Totally bogus behavior. I was never sold on MS for these reasons.

one thing i dont like x-plane is require to high graphic card. my geforce 9800GTX 2 can only set setting to 2014x1024, full water refect, 10.0 cloud puff,number, extreame reso, exteame world view distance, 8x anti alies with average 36 frapes per second

Flight sim is only "real" as long as you don't exced critical angle of atack so the only thing it replicates acuratelly is flying in a straight line or normal turns. I have on sevral ocasions done some aerobatics in FS with the extra and as a result the plane starded doing some REALY wierd stuff jumping in all drections... Even tough X-Plane has it's flaws it has A LOT more potential because of the way it is implemented. The best flight simulator that i found: Condor (only gliders but still...)

I've always liked X-plane for it's unique modeling of flight dynamics using blade element theory, the vast repository of free aircraft files and other resources, and it's included Planemaker application in which one can modify any existing models or design their own. X-plane is also undergoing continuous improvement and offers many periodic, free updates through each version. Having flown real planes, I've found nothing more convincing or with greater variety for the PC.

BTW fsx wuz used to train pilots in tha navy and some Level-D simulators were approved for training pilots. I have both fsx: original & Xplane:V8.6 & there is almost no difference with the "Relistic flight simulation" of xplane & normal fsx flight. Fsx also features missions and tutorials to help out newcomers & dats a big plus for Fsx.

I like xplane a bit too, it is good to a certain extent, but fsx still is voted to be the best.

I think its totally laughable that people are knocking X-Planes Graphics based on a crappy youtube low res flash player video. X-Plane states up front, if you don't have a high end graphics card its not going to look like the demos videos or pictures. At least your not stuck with the non-stop crashing of Windows with X-Plane.

I have both FSX and X-Plane, I got X-plane 7 first as my uncle(an aerodynamics designer for Boeing)highly recommended it. As a simulator it is far superior, but it has a horrible UI. As far a graphics go X-plane has FSX beat again. The scenery is spot on, and the good planes look great.

I got FSX purely for the UI, it is simple and easy to use, and that makes a ton of difference.

I really think that Austin should get some UI people in and make the game more user friendly.

Yea um fsx beats xplane7 in graphics??? xplane8? Even xplane 9? Phhsure.... They couldnt even include a push-back car or airport scenery. It may be more accurate but fsx has a ton of scenery packages and stuff like that (downloads) eventhough it practiclay dusnt need it and um xplane has very fake unrelistic scenery like roads going over roads and all the trees being the same... Fsx, heck fs2002 & 2004 beats any x-plane in graphics and thats that.

The thing that's always let MSFS down is the unbelievably shitty physics. An infant can land any of the planes on first go. It's just really really bad. point the nose and aim for the runway.. That's not how you're supposed to be able to land..

Try landing the SU25 in Lock On to see how off FSX is in the physics department.

BTW i get that the physics arent super important in MSFS. Avionics and ATC's and whatnot is where the games focus lies, but cmon.. The physics are horrid.

Guys, those graphics are extremely low for X-Plane, I'll see about taking some vids of mine, and I'll show you how it looks on mine on medium detail. Also, the aircraft in this vid looks to be from an older version of X-Plane, meaning it doesn't work or handle correctly considering how often the flight modeling changes.

X-plane 9 is a crap simulation the folks that developed it used deceptive advertising and doctored screenshots to sell this sim, it's equal to microsoft flight sim 95 or 98 the graphics are BAD the aircraft modeling is BAD it's not even worth stealing, save your money and by flightsim 10 from MS. the folks over at x-plane are ripping people off.

The graphics in that video are on minimums, look at it. If you want to claim anything about it, theres a demo on the website, it's the same as the full version except there is only a small scenery area and there is a time limit on the demo. Also, most of those aircraft you are looking at are from X-Plane 7 or early X-Plane 8. A correctly done aircraft in X-Plane 9 can be around the same level of detail as those PMDG aircraft on FSX. Try it before you bash it.
