My dad got shot down behinde enemey lines and saved his co pilot's life in a cobra gun ship in nam sufferd third degree burns on his back. also was rescued and made it back only to do another tour.

Zai - all versions of the Cobra until the AH-1Z have two blades... well it's worked pretty well for decades now, but i think the 4 blades are quieter/more efficient

It's funny how folks try to see if you are a real pilot or not, but to answer your question, the front pilot is for navigation and weapons, which if main pilot is wounded, the front pilot also can take over and fly the bird. So as a former pilot, I would not want to go on a mission with out my co-pilot/gunner, but some have gone against the odds and tried. It is a 2 pilot machine! Now I would rather you say thanks for serving and protecting you then questioning me but whatever.

This guy is a very good pilot. Just pull her up and back her in. Great skills!!! For the record, the new Cobras are called AH-1Z Super Cobras. Unlike the previous Cobras, the new models have bigger engines, more power, 4 Main Blade rotors and 4 tail rotors. They are faster and more maneuverable than an AH-64 Apache. And, they can carry more armaments as well. They are the Baddest of the Bad. Pity the poor dude who looks up and sees one of these Birds bearing down on him!!!!

My fat twat brother used to fly these when he was in the TA. Say's he used to regularly fly solo bombing runs into central Tehran back in the early 90's, he had an accident a few years later when the Taliban National Air Force took out his tail rotor and he was forced to eject. He's in a wheelchair claiming benefits now.
