you dont have to have acadian blood in the veins to be cajun, my family lives in michigan and we are cajun, being cajun you accept the cajun lifestyle ,the culture , traditions, music and food. With living in Michigan im a northerner , a UPer and a cajun.
Just because there's a MI State fan doesn't mean they're not Cajun.
I'm Cajun/Italian, and I live in the middle of the desert, and I still root for the Saints and cook Cajun food, but I love my Diamondbacks/Cardinals....so it's not what we're a fan of that makes US. :)
