    Hmm..Marcus Aurelius (complete with inner turmoil) and his son Commodus going mad, a brave honourable Centurion defending the Roman ideal of Republic, opening in the German frontier, climax in the Arena....nah Never occurred to me John, not for one second.

    (But you could have pointed out the Roman cavalry with stirrups, and the Gay sub-plot with Plummer and Boyd)
