  • Da Banger

  • I have done a few ride alongswithh this company im not trying to advertise but look at my l123 and e234 vids the kid is not me my cousin.

  • Hard to imagine that guy laying on the top of that porch like deal couldn't climb down off it and needed a fireman, I mean you turn around, swing yourself over and lower yourself down so you are holding on with your hands over your head, facing the building and you'd be like 5 feet at best off the sidewalk LOL

    Ppl are just helpless

  • What was that around 5:06? Was that the pto for the engine, or the aerial as I heard the engineer on either reving up the idle?

  • Watching this, I kept holding my breath...didn't want to breathe in that smoke!

Good use of the air horn to clear traffic.

  • Electronic siren is the federal pa 300 model with the silver front.

  • Who are the 6 'tards who didn't like this vid? Step up! Show yourselves!

  • @aal49 One of them was probably the guy in the window.

  • New York's finest!! Love the NYFD.

  • who was the officer on rescue 2

  • Since when was it a competition? All the squads do their best. It's bullshit to compare.

  • Whose the a-hole on the roof at 5:33

  • @Miroshinen Seems to be what we call a victim, dog breath.

  • excellent footage....

  • there was no noise-by-law at that time ?

  • I love the time 1994 was a good time in our lives. Wish we could go back. But I wonder, why did it take so long for the initial attack on this fire? Seem like they were fumbling around trying to get water? I know you can't bad mouth FDNY but didn't it seem like it took forever to get water on the hot stuff or was there an attack going on in the rear of the building?

  • Got a chance to sit in taht same seat with my father back in '87 when I was 12 years old. Did an overnight at Saint John's East. One of the mos memorable nights of my life that I will never forget. Made me appreciate my father even more than I did. FDNY.....the Bravest.....the Finest.....and the Boldest. Thanks to all the men at L123, E234. FDNY, no one compares.....in a league of your own. Thanks for keeping NYC safe. God bless.

  • @moletid Who is your Dad?

  • Wow!!!!! i miss my old hood... i used to sit in front the barbershop across from L123 and when they turned out... i would follow on my bike imagining being a fireman. i saw some cool stuff, but most of the time they would skip on me... way 2 fast!!!! lol Love the vid.

  • No no Squad 33 is the BEST

  • I do not care if you are FDNY or not....your horn sounds sick....wha't with the electronic siren too...where's the wind-up?

  • My dad is the LT

  • man your so lucky... now we dont get to do ride alongs.. well only if the mayor does decide going from 5 ff to 4ff you might get a chance but for now no one can get a ride along with the fdny.

  • Thats my Neighborhood

  • "10-75 please"

  • Only squad in the city? Not true. Squad 41 in the Bronx.

  • @mcfrs I stand corrected... you are right!

  • @mcfrs This was 1994. I think Squad 1 was the only squad at the time. They added the others in the late 90s.

  • @mcfrs sq61

  • @mcfrs Squad 61 , Squad 18 , Squad 252 , Squad 288 , Squad 270

  • @mcfrs At the time this was the only Squad in I believe 1998 Engines 18 , 41 , 61 , 252 , 270 & 288 were all turned into Squads

  • I don't guess you'd know anything about why they had to abandon the people in Tower 1 after the South tower fell.

I can't get them to tell me why.

My daughter's dad was above the impact point and died there. Obviously.

But why can't they tell me why. I just wanna know why, and they acted like I was giving them the fourth degree questioning.

  • @vickiormindyb "My daughters dad"...?

  • @vickiormindyb they eft the people in tower one because after the south tower collapsed they realized how unstable the towers were and decided to evacuate in an attempt to prevent any further loss of firefighters if the south tower were to collapse which it did

  • those 94 seagraves were brand new then, but now we refer to them as "spares"

  • Little do they know in the near 7 years they will have the biggest call in their life...

  • My dad was at this one and like you said, who knew that him and I along with the rest would go to the biggest call in the history of the FDNY.

  • if your so obsessed with the fd why dont you join

  • 234 must be flying to this job. met a bunch of these guys back in the early 90's. all great guys.

  • at least he didn't forget to hit the 10-84 button.

  • i liked ever thang bout it great job guyz alot of team work and alot of hustle

  • FDNY-The BEST in the world!

  • Cool video mate.

  • great video and outstanding job fellas!

  • The Suburban at 2:50 is Batallion 3-8

  • 10-75 Box 1-0-3-0 for the address 489 Kingston Ave between Lefferts and East New York for a fire in multiple dwelling....calling the 3-0 K

  • you can hear the dispatcher assigning rescue 2 to the box due to numerous calls, and then you can hear the officer hitting the glass @ 1:44 letting the backstep know they're going to work. awesome

  • Brooklyn Wins !!! Brooklyn Wins !!!

    Strength and Honor

    Invictus NY !!!

  • How often do the horns get changed, hourly, daily?? Lol!

  • Back in the Eighties was L123 the Mad Horner or was it L132?

  • do you know if ladder 132 responded to this. my dad was in that house at the time

  • They are located on St John West.... 123 is on St Johns East. The first due truck was 113. I do remember seeing them there, i'm guessing they may have been requested an additional ladder

  • Wasn't there someone on the roof in the rear lying down. Did they know he was there?

  • At 7:34 He's walking with someone holding a white blanket. They got him

  • Has FDNY ever used PA200's ????

  • Comment removed

  • maybe back when the 200s were huge but i cannot confirm that all i know is that i want a 200 in good condition

  • Thats how you use the air horn

  • engine truck battalion for an arder from the dispacher 2nd alarm additiona;l units all hands will be every one used

  • Somehow, I still like the old-school Seagrave engines =)

  • Agreed. The old units have a lot of character.

  • this rocks.. esp at 3:00 but I wish the camera was steadier.

  • thanks trillions times to all of the firefighters on earth, even if trillions is surely not enough

  • quit debating and watch the vid

  • not in america a 3rd alarm is when you need more units to come in more that the units assigned for a second alarm a 3rd alarm for the FDNY is-12 engines-7 ladders-5 battalion chiefs-1 rescue-1 squad-1 deputy chief-1 RAC unit-1 sattelite-safety battlalion-SOC Battalion-1tatical support unit-field communications-masked service unit

  • MASKED service unit? You mean like Batman or the Green Lantern? I didn't know FDNY had a special super hero unit. ;-)

  • u dam right they do...there called FDNY after 9/11 they truly are superheros when people are runing out of building they are the ones running in..so hellz yea they are superheros

  • The name of the outfit is the MASK SERVICE UNIT (MSU). It supplies and maintains the air-paks (portable breathing units). Not the MASKED service unit, weenies.

  • hi msu repo units are usually called on the 2nd alarm and greater within most code 1 2 and 3 runs along with sattelite trucks and safety batt chiefs

  • im from the uk can any1 please tell me what a 3rd alarm is please i would like to no thanks

  • ok... before you get any more bad information. An "alarm" is typically a group of apparatus, for instance, 3 engines, 2 ladders, 1 Rescue and a Battalion Chief, could be a 1st alarm. Every alarm after that may follow with a similar apparatus amount with added pieces that may be needed, like a cascade unit (fill air bottles), deputy chief, communications unit, etc. etc. The term transmitting a 2nd alarm was back when the chief would pull the box at the street corner if he need more help.

  • "The term transmitting a 2nd alarm was back when the chief would pull the box at the street corner if he need more help. "

This is absolutely dead wrong. Before radios in FDNY the chief would open the box with his key and use the telegraph key inside to tap out 2-2, followed by the box #. THAT would get him the 2nd alarm. Pulling the box a 2nd time would be ignored by the dispatchers. Been there, done that.

  • I stand corrected, thanks for the info

  • Wow, they actually let you ride along to such a serious fire? What a nice bunch of guys.

  • is dat rlli 1994 jesus man i was born in 1993 and i swear it never looked that old not that i have ever been to NY but still looks like the 80's

  • those are some old fire trucks

  • That's Mike Boucher on the radio. He's up in the X now.

  • they only had one squad in 1994?

i thought they would have more

    what is a squad?

  • A squad is an upgraded engine company. They carry more tools and equipment than a standard engine. Back in the day, Squad helped Rescue 2 with their duties. Brooklyn was and is so large and busy they needed additional resources to protect the city.

  • awsome pure awsome

  • 113 giving the 10-75.

  • 43 k, batt 38 shares quarters w/ 234 and 123 correct?

  • That is correct... L123,E234 and Batt 38 all in same house on St Johns East in Crown Heights

  • nice truck engine rescue and battalion scenes with roof teams venting

  • oic sounded like lt mcarthy???

  • I'm from Boston and we have a great FD. But FDNY is the greatest FD in the world

  • Simply no better rush then being in a rig rollin into job. I miss those days!

  • WOW this was a totally awesome video great job

  • i was told they r putting q's on all the new trucks

  • I was told that they are putting electric Q's on new apparatus. I understand why, because of costs. But they are so lame! I'd rather not have one, then use these bogus electric.

  • FDNY are the BEST anywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 43 is it true that the FDNY is goin back to the Q's??

  • I have no idea, but I would guess no, only because they cost thousands of dollars extra. Multiply that by all the apparatus, and your talking hundreds of thousands of dollars.

  • they might be when the new ladders and tower ladders arrive i think i heard one on a new engines

  • 43k Glad you posted the video. I lost my tape a few years ago. Brings back good memories! da kidd

  • SK is that you?

  • yep. How goes it?

  • Same SK as was Bklyn #31?

  • 43k, you ride with 234 anymore?

  • Negative, those days are over. They don't let anyone buff insdie the rigs anymore. The best you can do is ride along with a Batt.

  • "Back" to the Q's? If you want to talk about going back, it's to the Federal Model 28!

  • q for queer/queens

  • Thats a taxpayer? I thought a taxpayer was a strip mall

  • A strip mall is a tax payer, however this building....a store on the first floor with apartments above is a "true" taxpayer. The concept is that you had a business on the first floor and rented the apartmens above to "pay the taxes".

  • Second-source=time-to-go-to-work!!

  • its weird sseing guys wearin turnout gear and the old 3/4 coats and pull up boots. I guess this was when turnout gear was first issued. Very nice video A lot has changed since '94.

  • I didn't see roll up boots. I saw black kevlar or nomex with long coats. Coat length is short medium or long.

  • There were a few guys wearing the old bunker gear(long coats and pull ups) look closely and you'll see a few guys with it. This video was filmed around the time the job started issuing full turnout gear.

  • I wish New York would allow REAL Q's or elase you have to rely on the air horn to identify yourself as a fire truck.

  • Awesome video, too bad I cant pass the damn physical test.

  • it's hard to believe how different yet similar the fire scene then ('94) and now look.

  • it is actually . some guys have the encapsulated gear and some dont. It all became issued about 6 months later due to a fire capt. and 2 members dying in a stairway in soho

  • well considering this obviously isnt 1994 what year is it?

  • why do u say that?

  • Look at the cars. Looks like 94 to me...

  • Great video..Was very excited to see real fireman do such a wonderful job..I was excited to see how fast the first fire truck responded. Also like to comment on the fireman that was working pulling the hose out..Kinda cute! Does anyone know his name?

  • that was me. how ya doing?

  • hey i really love this video!

if you have any more videos or pictures of truck 123 please let me know, cause that was my grandfathers rig and i have alot of pride.

  • I don't have any that is as good as this unfortunately... Who is your grandfather?

  • i like the seagraves better than the mack's

  • naw i love the macks they r awesome

  • nice mack

  • guy laying on the roof and the engine comapnies still streatching lines.. thats what I call discipline! or over discipline...after 23 yrs in the buisness.. someone could have threw a 16 and got him.. come on

  • I completely understand your concern Jackcourt, however, I think they recognized that they were in no eminent danger and that there may have been other higher priority tasks being addressed. They had someone at the window which they did rescued. They were opening up. The thought may have been to control the fire quickly and protect everyone, rather than commit resources to a non serious rescue and maybe let the fire spread creating more danger.

  • I know that goes against the list of fire fighter priorities SOP's or SOG's. But I have seen many jobs were someone at a window has created such panic that all fire fighting tasks were abandoned, ultimately creating a far more serious fire and risk to everyone involved. Just a thought.

  • awesome video!

    thanx for uploading!!

  • Sounded like box 1030. Great video. I agree with jd - it's good to see some of the old Mack's getting some face time.

  • What was the Box #

  • Great driving brother.

  • nice video!!!!!! i like the older rigs in a video for a change!!
